sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty okay week. Another busy one and it was a pretty productive one too. Although lots of small things popped up that detracted a bit from my feeling of productivity. I finished the assistant work for my two authors this week, which was nice. I worked on some new tours, sent out media kits for future events and two cover reveals took place.

I do feel a bit bad I have so little time to visit blogs nowadays. I am sorry about that, I do want you to know that I appreciate all your comments and will reply to all of them, although it may take a while. I do hope to do a bit of visiting today.

On Tuesday morning I did a bit of cleaning and finally put away the Christmas tree. It was nice to get that done and the house looks a lot neater and emptier without the Christmas tree. But it was fun to have the tree around for so long. Then later this week our microwave suddenly stopped working, we use it almost every day to heat up our food as I cook one day for two days and then we heat the food up the next day. So we needed to buy a new microwave. Luckily the microwave got delivered the next day, so we didn’t have to do long without it.

And one of the towel holders in the bathroom came down from the wall and every time we put it back up it came down again. In the end we decided to throw it out and order a new one. The new towel holder has arrived, we just need to hang it on the wall. Then on Thursday I had a nasty headache, which put a damper on that day and in the end I just took a nap before dinner as I couldn’t focus on work anymore with the headache. Luckily the nap really helped and the headache slowly disappeared after that.

On Saturday we went out to buy a new plant so we could place that on the spot the Christmas tree used to be. We got a nice cute plant that also should clean the air or something like that. We also got some extra soil and some new plants for our balcony. I always like potting new plants.

Picture of the Week

Plant
Hey I remembered to take a picture this week. This is our new plant we bought.

What did I read this week?

Magick RebornWhen the Grits Hit the Fans

It was a pretty good reading week in the sense that I’ve been reading two very good books. When the Grits Hit the Fan was an awesome book and I enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery. I managed to finish that one. And I’ve been reading the third Daydreamer Detective book by SJ Pajonas. Pajonas is one of my favorite authors and reading one of her books always makes me happy. This series gets better with each book and the mystery had me stumped for a while. As you can tell from those two titles I’ve been in a cozy mystery mood lately. I finished Magick Reborn last Sunday and it was a nice read. I reviewed it yesterday.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Saven Deliverance by Siobhan Davis
Review: Ozoni and Onsens by SJ Pajonas
Review: Alien frog Prince by JM Page
Lola’s Kitchen: Garlic Naan Recipe

Book Haul:

No new books this week! Who else is surprised? I was too busy to get new books ;). Actually I am not sure what happened, I did stop by netgalley, but didn’t saw anything I really wanted and now new books or review copies I was waiting for arrived. But I am kinda happy to not have had gotten any new books in a week, that rarely happens.

Freebies I grabbed:

  1. Don’t worry, we’re all extra busy sometimes πŸ™‚ And yikes, it sounds like you had quite a hectic week between the microwave breaking and the towel holder falling down. Your plant is really cute though! And that’s awesome if it cleans the air. I’ve literally never taken care of a plant, so it’d probably be dead in a week if I ever got one lol.

Glad you read some good books at least πŸ™‚ And wow, no new books! I only got one, so we both did good this week πŸ˜›

    • It felt like lots of those small things happened this week. It was quite the busy week. I am really happy with the new plant. They had this whole selection of air cleaning plants in the garden center.

I’ve gotten better at taking care of plants over the years, but I killed quite some too. And everything on our balcony always seems to die.

I was so proud of that no new books. I only got two this week, so that’s not too bad.

  2. Sometimes all those little niggly jobs can drive you crazy! It sounds like a bit of a crazy week. I just need to find some good books…my reading has matched my mood this week-grim! Oh well there’s always next week!

    • I am also glad to hear I wasn’t the only one who still had their Christmas tree up until now. It was nice having it around for so long.

  3. I have been crazy busy too. The day just seems to get away from me and I can’t seem to visit like I want. I have been commenting back but not as fast. I am looking forward to the spring, now that the kids are older I think I should have more time in the spring and summer to do stuff. I just need to work more on organizing the house.

I can’t believe you still had your tree up! I love the plant, I kill plants, like ANY plant. Wait… I lied…I don’t kill bamboo plants those I can keep around for at least a year but all over plants die in my house. I stink at plant keeping! πŸ™‚

I hope you have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • I haven’t even had time to comment back on all comments anymore, it makes me sad. Things just have been so busy lately. Although I am happy with all the extra work.

Yes we wanted to keep our Christmas tree up a bit longer this year and then I didn’t make time to remove it until now. I really like plants, although I also have killed a few of them, but I am getting better with plants. Our balcony is a pain to keep anything alive, we had several plants die there Now we bought some small plants that don’t grow as high as hopefully those can withstand the wind.

I hope you’ll have a great week too! I’ll have a new banner request for you soon πŸ™‚

  4. Some weeks just tend to fall upon your head, don’t they – it sounds as if you had one of those… Yes… we have a collapsing towel rain in the bathroom but I cannot find another one that remotely matches out admittedly out of date decor, so I’ve become adept at pieceing back together! I love your plant, it should be a handsome beast in a couple of years:). Have a good week, Lola. My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/02/26/sunday-post-26th-february-2017/

    • It definitely was one of those weeks. Our bathroom consist of non matching stuff, so we just bought another non matching thing to fit in. But it doesn’t look too bad. But I can imagine that if everything is in one style it can be hard to find a good replacement.

I am curious how big that plant will grow.

  5. Life can be a bit busy and crazy at times. No worries! Like your new plant ^_^
I didn’t get to read last week with my parents in town. I’m a little behind and have this stack of library books I picked up for the library love challenge I’ve also got at least 6 review books I need to read. 5 are old and I’m behind on that. =/
Well have a great week and happy reading!

    • I just feel a bit sad I am not able to do as much blogging anymore as I used to. I am really happy with the new plant :).

  6. Busy is good, Lola. And sometimes we all get a little busy and can’t comment like we’d like to. But I’m thinking busy for you means good things, so yay! I love the plant. It’s great you decided to add some greenery where your Christmas tree was. πŸ™‚ I hope this week is busy and productive as well. Hopefully you’ll have some time to read a good book! πŸ™‚

    • I just feel a bit sad I can’t visit all my blogging friends as much as I want to :(. And yes busy does mean good things for me, so I am happy with all the extra work.

I like plants, I would probably have even more of them in the house if I had more money to spare. It’s nice to have an extra plant in the house πŸ™‚

And yes this week was just as busy and productive :). I hope it keeps up.

    • At first we didn’t want to take it down yet and after that I couldn’t make time for it. It was kinda nice to keep the Christmas tree up for so long though. That’s fun your grandmother kept her tree up until valentine’s day some years.

Our microwave broke a long time ago and we never got a replacement. I actually don’t miss it at all. LOL

That is a cute plant! How big does it get?

Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen

    • I like coking at once for multiple days, so a microwave is really handy then for warming food up.

I have no idea how big the plant will get. I am curious about that too. I’ll try to remember to take another picture in a few months or so πŸ™‚

  8. Sounds like you had a good week except for the headache! I had a headache this week too but mostly from dealing with Amazon. I couldn’t let it stop me though so I hydrated and took ibuprofen to make it go away. We got a new microwave when we renovated the kitchen and I’m so happy with it. Our old one was possessed. It would sometimes finish its cooking, beep, and then the light would stay on inside and it would keep cooking! We would open the door to get stuff out, and it would stop, but then start up again once we closed it. We had to unplug it and plug it back in again to stop it. Lol. That thing was a nightmare!

    • Yes it was mostly a good week, except for the headache and the microwave breaking down. I usually work through my headache, but it just makes them stay there longer. I also take ibuprofen and try to stay hydrated when I have one.

Wow that sounds crazy how it kept cooking and such. Our old microwave was pretty old by now, but it kept working well, until now. We tried to warm up our food and the light went on and the timer worked, but the food stayed cold. It was weird. Guess it was time for a new one.

    • I have no idea what plant it is. I had a short look online, maybe it’s an areca palm, but not 100% sure. For me it’s the same I rather buy books and plants than shoes and purses. I wouldn’t mind having a few extra plants around :).

    • It was so weird to have both things fall apart in the same week. We have 5 or 6 indoor plants now and just bought some new ones for the balcony too, let’s hope they survive this time. We named some of them as well :).

  9. Sounds like a busy week. I thought this week went by fast after a slow start. Sorry to hear about the microwave- I’ve had mine forever and I’m sure it’s going to go one of these days! Cleaning the air is a good reason to have plants. πŸ™‚

I’m thinking of trying the Pajonas books at some point. they look fun.

Hope you have a great week.

    • Ours was really old, so we knew it would stop eventually. You just never know when they stop working. This was quite sudden.

I hope you give one of Pajonas her books a try. I really love her books!

    • Yes that’s what we do too. I cook dinner for two days and then we warm it up the next day. It’s really handy to not have to cook every day. I am glad the new microwave arrived so soon.

    • I a sorry to hear you also have a hard time visiting blogs. I only have enough time to reply to comments on my own Sunday post and just hope to visit some new ones tomorrow if possible. I know it happens from time to time to all of us, I just feel sad not being able to visit my blogging friends as much as I used to.
