sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a bit of a mixed week with some good things that happened and also some less smooth things that happened. I had a few days that just had all those little things pop up that had to be dealt with and those days just don’t feel as productive. I had a few low priority things for Lola’s Blog Tours that I wanted to work on, like new services and an automation for my newsletter, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet. I did do a bit of work on a discount that I am planning. My assistant work is still going on as usual for which I am very grateful and my tour work is still going well so far as I have 2 tours going on and still 3 tours open for sign-up, which keeps me busy.

My boyfriend’s work schedule is still all over the place, work time and days he work are very variable and can change per day and it’s hard to keep up with or establish any sort of routine or schedule. Luckily my sleeping routine seems to be firmly in place and it really helps to get consistent amount of decent sleep, although that probably will change again now that our clocks went an hour ahead last night. I hate the whole clock change thing as it’s always hard to adjust to the new time.

I had some trouble with my Kobo ereader this week. I had it plugged in on my computer to add books it suddenly did an update that I wasn’t aware of and now all the hundreds of books on my account are on there suddenly and something about the programming on my ereader has changed with everything looking differently now. It already crashed twice since the update and I had to reset it. I normally try to limit the amount of books on there as my Kobo is pretty old and runs better with fewer books on there. It seems to be working for now, but I still have to go through the books and see if I can remove some again from my device. I just haven’t made the time or energy for that yet. At least it seems to be working for now, so that’s something.

I was a bit afraid of what grocery shopping would be like again this week and to be honest a bit stressed out whether I would be able to get everything I needed for next week. Especially as they made some changes to limit the spread by limiting the amount of people inside and ways to keep the appropriate distance. I was afraid it would be a mess, but actually it was the opposite. It was so well organized and streamlined. The grocery store was a lot emptier of people and the shelves were a lot fuller. It was so nice how this was handled and I felt a lot happier and less stressed than the previous few sorcery store trips. There were only a few non urgent things I didn’t get. It was a huge relief that the grocery shopping went smoother this week and I felt quite relieved. Let’s hope it stays that way.

What did I read this week?

Wandering Girl vs Torn BoyThe Music of What happensSilent Flyght

Wandering Girl vs Torn Boy was a great ending to this series. I love this series and it was great to see the whole family and happy and have Beck find love too. The Music of What Happens was a DNF, it wasn’t gripping me for some reason, so I decided to put it down. Silent Flyght was awesome with lots of things going on and some great twists. I really like the characters and the world, but it’s sometimes sad to see how stressed Vivian is and how hard she pushes herself.

Food Corner

For this week I thought I would share some recipe for things to bake that are relatively simple to make or require only a few ingredients. And hopefully give you some inspiration for something to bake. Among which to recipes I made this week Kaiserschmarrn and Brownies. Kaiserschmarrn are so easy and delicious to make and work great when you’re craving pancakes. The batch of brownies turned out great this week and I was happy I managed to buy some eggs to make them. I reworked my chocolate rocks recipe a bit this week, so I included that one as well, this is one of my earliest recipes and it was a mess, but it should be easier to follow now hopefully. If you have puff pastry, butter, cinnamon and sugar, you can make the cinnamon puff pasty twisters, a delicious recipe that only requires a few ingredients. Oreo Cookie Bars is a recipe I haven’t made in a while, but it’s a great one, it combines the flavor of oreo cookies and normal cookies into one. Or when you want something with fruit, give the mini applecake a try, it’s great.

How to Howl at the MoonWriting Killer Cover CopyHunting Fiends for the Ill-Equipped

I was in the mood for a fun read and How to Howl at the Moon has been on my wishlist for a while and I decided to buy it now. I started it after I finished my current read and am really enjoying it. Writing Killer Cover Copy was only 99 cents and it sounded like an interesting non-fiction read. Hunting Fiends for the Ill-Equipped I got for review and this will be my next read, really excited for this one!

What’s something you baked this week?

  1. Sounds like they have a great system worked out for groceries there! Here it is a bit insane and I just ordee them to be delivered. Because going to the store feels a bit like being in a supply run on the Walking Dead. πŸ™„

I’m glad things seem to be going well, stay safe!

    • The system does seem to work at the store so far, although this week it already went less smoothly sadly. I considered ordering, but that’s unhandy too as they don’t have everything and you have to order almost a week ahead to get a delivery slot. Stay safe!

  2. That’s weird abut the update to your ereader and what it did to your device. I have an old ereader that I use too and I don’t know how long it’s going to keep working for me.

  3. I know exactly what you mean about trying to adjust when your boyfriend has the crazy work schedule right now. My husband works for UPS and each day its adjusted based on the volume of packages they have to sort and deliver that day. He sometimes has to go in early and work extra hours and sometimes he has to go in on time and stay late with the extra hours. Looks like you got a lot of work done even though it was a topsy turvy week for you. Yay for a smooth and stress free grocery store run. I’m going on Tuesday and hope to find most things on my list.
Your recipes especially the apple cake sound yum. πŸ™‚
Bummer about the DNF, but glad the other two were good ones. I’ve had a couple that I set aside to see if it was just the mood which helps with my reading being more productive. I’m reading a fun m/m sci fi right now.

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • I didn’t realize your husband works for the UPS, that must be really stressful right now with the extra time he has to work and strange hours.

I hope you got most of your groceries this week.

I hadn’t thought of that apple cake in a while now, I might have to make it again sometime soon.

I do the same, I DNF’d 3 books this month, but it helps to keep my reading going. What’s the M/M scifi you’re reading right now? I am always on the lookout for good books in that genre.

  4. I got a copy of Hunting Fiends too and I’ve already inhaled it! It was definitely worth the wait but now I fear waiting until September to see how it ends may actually KILL ME! πŸ™‚ Hope you enjoy it too!

Sorry to hear about the Kobo troubles though. Issues with the ereader stress me out so I wish you luck on getting it sorted.

    • I finished Hunting Fiends as well now and it was great. The wait till September is going to be tough indeed.

I just left it as it is now, at least it has one benefit as the kobo synced books look a bit better and have chapter numbers. I just have to go through all the books on there eventually, but not now.

  5. Urg! The Kobo update sounds a nightmare… and just at the wrong time, too. Glad your supermarkets are now working better – they are far more organised here, too. I’m so impressed at the massive effort they’ve made to keep filling the shelves despite the panic buying. I hope your boyfriend’s work settles down into some sort of pattern – it’s hard enough right now to cope, without being constantly having to change hours, etc. Have a quiet, healthy week and stay safe, Lola.

    • It sure was a pain, but it’s working for now and when I have time I’ll go through it all then.

I am glad everything is getting more organized now that this has been going on for a while.

My boyfriend’s work probably won’t settle down until the virus is over sadly. They have a different work schedule because of it. It’s hard to get any sort of pattern.

  6. Gah! All those sweet bakes look amazing! I made some keto muffins this week and they came out just okay. I should have added more sweetener to them. Thank you for all you do for your authors, including me! I would be a mess without you. πŸ™‚

    • I thought it was fun to share some of the sweet bakes for this week’s food corner. Hopefully the keto muffins turn out better next time.

I am glad I can be of help to you and other authors πŸ™‚
