Lola’s Kitchen is a feature on Lola’s Reviews where I talk about all things related to food, cooking and baking. These posts can be recipe posts, tens list posts about food or recipes or more discussion type posts about food. I love cooking and spend some time in the kitchen almost every day, so I wanted to give it a place on my blog as well. The banner for this feature is designed by Michelle from Limabean Designs.
I discovered these bars a while ago when I was looking for a new recipe to try out and I had some M&M’s I wanted to use in baking. I actually ended up liking these better without M&M’s so I adapted the recipe to have it without them, but my boyfriend prefers them with, so that’s why you see two halves on the pictures ;). These cookie bars are really good. I like the taste and texture of the cookie dough and it combines well with the oreo’s.
This recipe is based on Averie Cooks Loaded M&M Oreo Cookie Bars
Ingredients
- Sugar – 160 gram/ 4/5 cup
- Butter – 113 gram/ 1/2 cup
- Flour – 125 gram/ 1 cup
- Vanilla Essence – 1 teaspoon
- Oreo cookies (or something similar) – 16 cookies
- Egg – 1
Method
- Warm up your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/ 175 degrees Celsius.
- In a small-ish bowl break the 16 Oreo’s into pieces. I usually try to break each Oreo into 4-5 pieces. Picture below.
- Warm your butter for about 30 second in the microwave. Then mix it with the sugar in a medium sized bowl.
- Add the vanilla essence and the egg and mix until combined.
- Now add the flour and mix again until well combined.
- Add the pieces of Oreo and mix shortly to distribute them throughout the dough.
- Spread the dough into a baking paper covered low oven proof plate/ bowl. Place it in the oven and bake for 20-22 minutes or until a cake tester comes out dry and they are brown on top.
- Let cool down for a bit and then slice in pieces.

Variation Tips
- Oreo Cookie Bars with M&M’s. Add some M&M’s on top before you put the cookie bars in the oven. An flavor M&M’s will do.
- Oreo Cookie Bars with different flavor Oreo’s. Instead of normal Oreo’s you can also use a different flavor Oreo’s in these bars.
- Oreo Cookie Bars with topping. Add your favorite toping or candy bar on top of the bars before you put them in the oven.
I would like to try them both ways. I’ve had M&M regular cookies, but never with Oreos, but I would like to try with just the Oreos taste.
The last Oreos recipe I made was a chocolate mousse with a layer of crushed Oreos between and whipped topping with Oreos on top. It was too sweet for me, but everyone else liked it. 🙂

They are good both ways, I just prefer them with only Oreo’s. The Oreo and m&m’s taste does go well together, although I used m&m’s with peanuts this time and I think I would prefer the plain ones for this recipe.
Oh that chocolate mousse sounds delicious! Seems like something I would like.
Oh yum. These look sooooo good!

They are really good 🙂
Oh dang that sounds so good. I’ve used crushes oreo’s and butter to make a pie crust for chocolate mousse pie.

I also sued Oreo’s for a pie crust once I think. Cookies work great as pie crust!
Those look really good. I’m not a huge fan of Oreo’s by themselves but the final product looks pretty yummy! With or without M&M’s- hmm tough call. 🙂

I like Oreo’s by themselves, but maybe even better this way. It’s really good.
I like cookie dough, and I like oreos, so yeah, these look delicious! I’d probably like them better without the M&Ms too though, seems like *too much* for me. Like, too much chocolate or flavor or whatever at once.

With the m&m’s it was just a bit too much for me and I thought the chocolate added changed the flavor and I liked it better without. Although maybe I’ll try it with plain m&’s once as we used peanut ones this time.
Omg, these look amazing. I love m&m’s but I think I’d like it okay with just the oreos. I don’t know if I’ve really made anything with oreos before…apart from using the cookie parts as cupcake decorations!

You can really use Oreo’s for a lot of different recipes. I like your idea of using Oreo parts as cupcake decorations!
Yum! And, yes, I use Oreos often in my baking 🙂 Love em!

I think this was the first time I baked with them but I’ll have to bake with Oreo’s more often.
my kids love anything with Oreos so we sprinkle Oreos on ice cream, make oreos milkshakes, dip them in chocolate, crush them and use them as pie crust, you name it BUT we have never baked them like this!!! Thanks for sharing this recipe 🙂

I hope you give this a try then! I like Oreo’s, but I don’t think I baked a lot with them so far. I might have to change that.
Like Greg, I’m not a fan of eating Oreos individually, but the recipe sounds too yummy, and a must try for sure. Hugs…and happy Friday

I like Oreo’s individually, but in this recipe they are great too and they do taste a bit differently this way if that makes sense?
I’ve been craving a chocolate slice of some type the past couple of days (I made one that has fruit in it, and it’s just not the same!) these look really good, and easy to make too!

Yes they are :). I just made them again this weekend and they are all gone now already.
Oh my word. I need this in my life! I love how simple it is to make. I’m more of a cook and less of a baker. So this would be perfect for me.

I like both cooking and baking, but I usually stick to the easier baking recipes like cookies and some simple cakes. I really like how simple these are to make and they are so good! Let me know how it goes if you give these a try!
