The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
What a week this was. It started with some annoying and stressful things that popped up that I had to deal with, another headache, then a dentist visit and the corona virus that’s now here as well. Luckily I had no caries at the dentist so that’s a bit of good news and the headache didn’t last as long. But it was still a tiring and stressful week. I am still struggling with not getting enough/ good quality sleep as well.
I had a good week in terms for work. I put two new sign-up posts live, one a blog tour for a suspense book and a book blitz for a middle grade graphic novel. If you’re looking for a new read, make sure to stop by my site as I have a bunch of open tours and review opportunities.
And the corona virus is now in the Netherlands as well. This week grocery shopping was just plain weird. Whole aisles were empty, mostly things like pasta, bake off bread, toilet paper, beans and other non perishable foods. Luckily I managed to get most of what was on my list for the week, but it was such a weird sight. I’ve never seen the supermarket so empty. The government also released some new rules to deal with the whole thing, so I think that caused everyone to start hoarding. I went back the next day to get some of the things I was still missing and it was ever worse then with even a lot of the perishable stuff being gone. I hope everyone stays safe!
For a bit of good news again. I tried a new mashed potatoes with leek and bratwurst recipe this week, which turned out great. I included the picture below. I also managed to schedule two new recipe posts and I have now 2 recipe posts scheduled for most of the upcoming months, yay!
What did I read this week?
Gotta Read It was a short and to the point read with a 5 step method for writing book descriptions. Murder at the Mushroom Festival was another fun read in the series. I wasn’t as invested in the mystery as it didn’t grip me as much, but I did like reading about the characters and some interesting information about redwood trees and mushrooms. The Dragon Mistress Book 3 was a great continuation of this series and I really enjoyed it, this one had some danger and some great character and romance development.
Food Corner
For today’s food corner I decided to go with mostly green dishes. Or partly green dishes. I just picked some dishes that jumped out to me due to their green ingredients and hey it matches my blog theme nicely. Mostly they contain things like green beans, cabbage, spinach or broccoli. Tell me about a dish with green ingredients that you like?
- Pasta Salad with Corn and Egg
- Spinach Masala Quiche
- Rice with Tofu and Broccoli
- Spinach Dal
- Spiced Pointed Cabbage
- Green Beans with Chicken
- Creamy Spinach Pasta Sauce
- Sajoer Beans

Book Haul:
This was a nice surprise to find my ARC copy of Silent Flyght waiting in my inbox after my dentist visit. That sure cheered me up as I love this series and I hope to dive into this one soon.
Sorry you had some not so good stuff going on, but glad your dental visit came back with a good report. Our grocery stores are getting bought out of the same stuff, too. It will be a long month or so as we try to get through the virus.
Nice haul surprise! I’m glad your books this week were good reads.
Green dishes! I love asparagus steamed or baked, green beans steamed or in a casserole. I like spinach quiche, but not cooked spinach on its own. I like roasted brussel sprouts. Hmm, I’m sure there is much more that I enjoy.
Have a good week, Lola!

I am glad the dental visit went okay. I sure will be a long month or more while we’re trying to get through this virus. Who knows how long this will last.
It sure was a nice surprise the new book this week.
I don’t like cooked spinach usually either, but I have a soup in which it works great. And spinach baked in a wok is good too. Asparagus and brussel sprouts are not for me.
This virus thing is crazy, the Toilet Paper thing is crazy. Mob mentality and media panic inducing coverage doesn’t help. You made some yummy foods!
I agree, it’s all weird this panic buying, but I can understand that people are afraid. The panic buying just creates more problems for more people as others can’t buy what they need. Let’s hope the panic buying stops soon.
Yes… what a week! Glad that in the middle of all the mayhem, you are still keeping busy, Lola. As for the panic buying – it’s a bit crazy. Thank goodness for lovely books we can escape into… Have a peaceful, healthy week, Lola:)
I am glad I can stay busy in the middle of it all. I hope the panic buying will be over soon. And yes I am definitely happy for books. I hope you’re staying safe too!
Stores here are the same way, it’s a little crazy.

I heard similar stories form those in other countries. i hope the panic buying stops soon.
Hmm green veggies – I make chicken burgers with chicken mince, grated zucchini, finely chopped green capsicum (bell peppers), finely sliced shallots, +grated carrot, grated onion, oats, garlic, herbs and egg. And serve them on a roll with iceberg lettuce + cheese, + onion rings
Shelves are empty fast here too. With a family of 6 I think we may end up eating a lot of toast
Wishing you a great reading week and good health

What a great idea to make chicken burgers, I am a vegetarian, but my boyfriend still eats meat and he might like these. I’ve make chicken meatball before, but not chicken burgers.
Sorry to hear the shelves empty fast there too. i hope you can get everything you need to sustain your family.
Wow. Look at all those food photos! I’M HUNGRY NOW! Lol. (It’s time for snack anyway.) We also have been hit hard too with COVID-19 and all our stores are empty. Hopefully they can restock this coming week. I’m sad that the mortality rate has hit 7% in Italy. That’s super high. What a crazy week. As for green vegetables, I must admit that I’m boring with them. I like to steam them and add a little butter and salt, maybe a few herbs. That’s about it!

I like seeing all the food pictures next to each other like that :). I hope the stores get a bit fuller again soon. I still saw a lot of empty shelves this week, although it’s getting slightly better maybe? It sure has been a weird time now. I rarely steam any food, but that does sound good and simple just steaming them with some butter and salt.
People are panic buying here too. I had to go to a bunch of stores to find what I needed, and I still couldn’t find everything. I hope you have a great week!

Same here, I went to multiple stores and then still didn’t find everything and had to go back another day. I hope the panic buying stops soon so everyone can get what they need.
