sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another week with lots of work. The discount I am running on Lola’s Blog Tours seems to be going well. I put up some new sign-up posts this week, one cover reveal, one blog tour and a book blitz. And I am working on sign-up posts for next week. This week the last week of a six week tour took place, a cover reveal took place and there’s a blog tour still running. Next week I have two cover reveals and the start of a blog tour on Friday. I am looking forward to it :).

I mentioned my computer troubles last week, while it’s not completely fixed, it does seems to do better. I only had it crash on me 2-3 times this week, which is about half the times from last week. So that’s good, I guess. I have so much work that I haven’t really made time to look into it more this week.

Kristen from the blog Metaphors and Moonlight did a fun birthday party book tag post. I wanted to share in case anyone was looking for a tag to do on their birthday. I already did the tag and have it scheduled for my birthday. It was a fun tag to do.

I am doing pretty well sticking to my list for reading so far, which is good. As I just added another three deadline reads to my schedule this week, lol. And I suddenly have this urge to re-read Summer Haikus. Which I don’t really have time for, but maybe I’ll try and fit it in somewhere.

Picture of the Week

Vegetarian-sausage-breads
I realized I never shared this picture on the blog yet. It’s an old picture, but I thought it would be fitting to share these today as I bought these last time I went grocery shopping. When I became vegetarian I didn’t really miss the meat, the only thing I missed eating were sausage breads or “Saucijzen Broodjes” as we call them here. They are kinda nostalgic for me as we used them a lot when we were younger and visiting my grandparents. And they are yummy. And there was nothing similar for vegetarians. Anyway, since a year or two they have a vegetarian version of them, which makes me so happy. I now buy them once in a while. They are really good!

What did I read this week?

Empowered: Agent

It’s itnerestign how my timing for books goes as last week I managed to read 4 books and this week only one. I am making good progress with my current reads though. Empowered Agent was a good read, but I had some issues with it as well. The superpower aspect was really well done, so I would recommend it if you’re looking for a good superheroes book.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Locked Tight by Susan Kaye Quinn
Review: The Royal pain by Erin Hayes
Lola’s Kitchen: Chocolate Covered Coconut Balls
Review: Renegade by Ivan Dale Smith

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Four Puddings and a Funeral by HY Hanna
– Review: The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase by Greg Cox
– Lola’s Kitchen: Leek in Curry sauce Recipe
– Review: Empowered Agent by Ivan Dale Smith

Book Haul:

Chasing Christmas EveThe Magnate's Marriage MergerHis Accidental HeirPlanet NeverlandThe Royal Mistake

I did well staying away from netgalley and edelweiss last week, but not so much this week. I got Chasing Christmas Eve from Edelweiss, I really enjoy this series so far and I am really curious about this one as it will be Spence’s book! The Magnate’s Marriage Merger I got for review for a tour. His Accidental Heir I got through netgalley. Those are book 2 and 3 in the series. I read book 1 in this series and I enjoyed that, so I was happy to be able to get the next two books as well. I have since also signed-up for a review copy of book 2 through a blitz. Yay! Planet Neverland I got for review form the author, I haven’t read a Peter Pan retelling before, so I am looking forward to reading this one. The Royal Mistake I got for review form the author. I’ve read and reviewed the first two books and enjoyed both of those (review for book 2 was on the blog this week), so I am hoping to read this one soon-ish.

Freebies I grabbed:

You can stop by my facebook post here to see some freebies I found last week. Here’s the facebook post for next week.

Finding Kyler is Free!

Finding Kyler
For a limited time only Finding Kyler is free! I really enjoyed this book and can’t recommend it enough if you like a good ya cotemporary romance with the right type of drama and a forbidden romance. So I wanted to give it a extra shout out here as well. It’s also listed in my free and discounted books post on fb.
Want to know more about the book? You can read my review here.

  1. Boo for your computer troubles. I get a little crazy when my computer acts up.
But you did get lots of work done anyway.

Oh, the vegetarian sausage bread does sound good. I have foods that remind me of visits to my grandmother’s home.

My reading fluctuates that way too from week to week. Sometimes I read a lot and sometimes I barely read enough to make my review commitments.

Oh, nice haul. The Peter Pan retelling looks great so I’ll look forward to your thoughts on it.

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • I think I maybe have solved my computer troubles? Not sure yet. If it keeps doing well for another few weeks I believe it ;).

They are really good. And it’s nice to have food like that,. that tastes good and makes you a bit nostalgic.

It’s weird how much my reading fluctuates, although some of it has to do with timing. if I finish a book on Sunday and read one book and a novella int hat week it’s easy to say i read 3 books. But then it means the next Sunday I start with a new book and probably only finish one. Which is what happened last week.

I haven’t seen many Peter Pan retellings so far and this one sounds really good :). It will be part of my to-be read list poll next month probably.

  2. Thanks for sharing the tag! And yay glad you found a veg version of the food 🙂 Don’t worry, I just BARELY managed to finish two books (plus a webcomic but that was quick) this week.

Cool, I don’t think I’ve ever seen actual retelling of the Peter Pan story, only sequel type things or books that use the same characters!

  3. Sorry your computer troubles still exist, but glad they’re better than they were. Be sure to save often, so you don’t loose your work if it crashes. I hope that you’re able to figure out the issue sooner rather than later. Sorry you didn’t get as much read. I know that I’ve had the same issue. I started a novella last week and I’m still only halfway through it. If it weren’t for audios, I wouldn’t have anything read. Have a great week.

    • The computer troubles got worse and now better again. I think I did something that helped, we’ll see in a few weeks if it has worked.

I do save a lot, so I haven’t lost any work yet, luckily. And most of my work is online that automatically saves.

  4. Computers are great but sometimes they can drive you mad. I like the cover for Empowered Agent but I’m unsure if it would be my kind of book. Think I need to check out some reviews before I decide! Have a good weekend!

    • Exactly, they are great if they work, but annoying when something is wrong.

The covers for that Empowered series are great. I’ll review Empowered Agent on my blog this Saturday.

  5. Sorry about the Computer issues. That always sets me into such a panic.
I love Sausage, those things look interesting and I am glad you found something similar.
I just checked out the birthday tag and it looks fun, My birthday is at the end of May so I plan to do that for the day. It looks like so much fun!

I hope you have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • I think I maybe have resolved my computer issues this week? Not 100% sure yet.

Yay! I am glad to hear you’ll be doing the birthday tag for your birthday! I look forward to reading how your party turns out :).

  6. Glad to hear work is going good for you and keeping you busy. I had to Google the sausage breads because I wasn’t sure if they had sausage in them or not but I saw that they do. That’s interesting and I can’t think of something similar here that’s sold all made like that. That’s good that they make a vegetarian one now that you can enjoy now. It looks good.

    • Yes it’s a sort of sausage there in it. Although weirdly enough we have “worsten broodjes” and “saucijzen broodjes” here and I would translate the same, but they have different kind of sausages in them? I didn’t realize they didn’t have these type of things in the US. I am glad they sell vegetarian versions of these now as they are really good 🙂

  7. Yay for the blog tour stuff! And glad that your computer is acting up a bit less- hopefully it won’t get worse. I get so frustrated w/ computer problems.

Those sausage bread/ vegetarian version look pretty good! I always like seeing what other people are eating lol. I get nostalgic about certain foods too…

    Have a great week Lola!

    • I did something this week that might’ve solved the computer issues, I hope? Computer troubles sure are frustrating.

The vegetarian sausage breads are really good. I always like sharing what I eat :).

  8. I’m sorry to hear that your computer is still acting up – I hope you get a chance to sort it out soon as it just slows everything down soooo much. It’s great that you continue to be so happy, though:). Empowered Agent looks great. Have a great week, hopefully with a better behaved computer.

    • I tried something new to fix the computer troubles this week and it has been acting well since then, so I think/ hope I fixed things?

Computer troubles sure slow things down a lot.

  9. I suddenly really want to try sausage bread! It sounds delicious and savory. So glad to hear that business is booming but I’m unhappy to hear that you’re having computer troubles. I, too, am having computer troubles and I have to resolve them soon or I’m going to go nuts. Have a great week!

    • They taste great! I guess they probably don’t have this brand in the US?

I think I might’ve solved my computer troubles. I updated my drivers this week and it seems to have helped so far. We’ll know for sure in a few weeks as it was crashing pretty randomly, so hard to know whether it’s fixed or just having a good day.

    • I am glad the sale is going so well :).

I think I might have finally found a solution for the crashing, but not 100% sure yet as some days it works fine anyway.
