sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week just seemed a bit off. Lots of little things that didn’t go quite right and the whole week just felt off, not sure how else to describe it. I was just in a bit of a weird mood this week. On Wednesday our dishwasher broke down, so we had to buy a new one and in the meantime we had to the dishes by hand, which just makes me realize how much I like a dishwasher as I hate washing dishes by hand. I also had a nasty headache on Friday, which basically ruined my productivity for that day. We also have had construction noises in the building on and off for three weeks now, which is getting old.

At least it was a decent week in terms of work. It was a bit quieter than the past few weeks sadly, but still a decent week. I got a new cover reveal sign-up live and am working on review opportunity sign-up post now. I had a book blitz and blog tour that ran this week and a cover reveal that took place.

On a more positive topic, I made a list on twitter for my favorite authors and bloggers as they usually get buried in my stream and I want a place to see all the good. It’s been working great for me so far. I still have to add some bloggers and authors, but so far I like it already. It also makes it easier to retweet my favorite authors and bloggers.

Picture of the Week

Sorry no picture of the week πŸ™

What did I read this week?

Death by Chocolate LabThe Magnate's Mail-Order BrideLosing Kyler

It was a good reading week. I finished reading Death by Chocolate Lab, which was a great read and I already reviewed it on the blog yesterday. I also read the Magnate’s Mail-Order Bride, which is for a blog tour stop early April and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. It was a great solid romance. Losing Kyler was the second book in the Kennedy series and while I was a bit afraid what this book would hold with that title, it was so good! Filled with drama, secrets and revelations. I already looking forward to the next book!

What did I cook for dinner this week?

Book Haul:

AlightAlien MatePlaying HouseEmpowered: TraitorLoved by a DragonNo Charm Intended

I got Alight for review from the author, if I understand it correctly it’s a spin-off from the Changeling Chronicles series. So I am finishing that one up first and then start with this one. Aien mate I got from netgalley, I was curious about this one as I follow the author on social media and had her seen mention this one. So when i saw it on netgalley I requested it. Playign House I bought on release day, I had considered joining the blog tour for this one as it sounds so good, but was afraid I couldn’t fit it into my schedule, so i decided to buy it with some of my gift card money instead. Empowered Traitor was only 0.99$ on release day and I couldn’t resist getting it for that prize. Same story with Loved by a Dragon. I already read some of Alisa Woods’ books, so I know I will enjoy them, so I always pick up her new releases when I can. No Charm Intended I got an invite for from the publisher, I already have book one and it sounds good, so I decided to get book 2 as well.

Freebies I grabbed:

  1. I had one of those weeks too…just a lot of small annoying things adding up to make it a week I’m pretty happy to see the back of. I like the book cover for Alight and I’m sure something by the author is on my ereader but I’m not sure what. Might need to look through the thing and weed out what I no longer want to read. Have a good week!

    • Sorry to hear you also had one of those weeks :(. I usually enjoy that author’s books and the cover for Alight is really pretty!

  2. Bummer about the off feeling week and the headaches. I had a pretty decent week save one day with a whopper headache so I know what that does to getting things done.

Way to go getting three read and good that you had some blog and business work done, too.

Oh neat! I got Alien’s Mate, too. I liked her cyborgs so hopefully I’ll enjoy her aliens. πŸ™‚

Wishing you a great week coming, Lola!

    • Glad to hear you had a decent week except for the headache, those always put a damper on a day :(.

It was a decent week for reading, blogging and work at least. I read Alien mate this week and I really enjoyed it, looking forward to hear your thoughts about it! I hope to try her Cyborgs next!

  3. Construction noises suck. So do headaches. And broken appliances. I’m sorry you’ve had such an off week :-/

Oh how funny, I also tried to update my Twitter lists a bit this week since I too have a problem with the tweets from my favorite authors and bloggers getting buried! But I only did a moderate job of it. Better than nothing, I suppose.

Glad you had a good reading week, and wow, lots of new books too! Alight and Traitor look interesting πŸ™‚

    • Just after I complained about the construction noises it seems they finally stopped this week, luckily. But yeah it really was an off week, luckily this one was a bit better.

I haven’t finished yet either, I am sure I am still forgetting a lot of authors, but I’ll just add to the lists as I go. It’s been nice to have a place to go to see those tweets that usually get buried in my feed.

I am really curious about Alight. I am first finishing up the Changeling series by that author before I start on this one.

  4. Hope this week is a good one! I need to trim my twitter down and try and make a list, that sounds interesting. I also need to add more of those I really want to follow. πŸ™‚ Need to use twitter more as well in general.

Have a great week and happy reading!

    • I follow a lot of people and want to be able to do so, but also see my favorites. So the list option seems to work well for that. I just have to add more bloggers and authors to my lists as I know I still have a lot to add.

    • Yes after having to do the dishes by hand for a few days now, I can say a dishwasher really is a must for me. It saves so much time and energy. I did mange to get some good books this week and I am eager to read them all.

  5. Construction noises are the worst. And sorry to hear about the dishwasher, that’s no fun! Hope this week is better. No Charm Intended looks fun. I like that cover. And death by Chocolate Lab looks pretty good too. πŸ™‚

Great idea on Twitter, I should organize myself better on there too i suppose. I miss a lot of stuff.

    • It seems this week they stopped with the construction noise, so that’s good. Our new dishwasher is installed by now, so we have a dishwasher again :). Death by Chocolate Lab was really good. I hope I can read the first charm book soon.

I never really did anything with lists, but so far I like it.

  6. Sorry to hear you had an off week and a headache, those are just no fun. I get migraines and trying to do anything becomes a big big chore. You had a great book haul. I hope you enjoy them.

I should organize my twitter feed, but haven’t kept up on it. Also I like your idea on Facebook of one post a week and in the comments you add the free or book deals.

Have a fabulous week and happy reading!

    • Headaches are the worst, it’s so hard to focus when I have one.

I hope so too! I am really excited about these new books!

The lists on twitter are a big help to make sure I see the tweets form my favorite bloggers and authors.

    • It was nice to get a bunch of books read :). I have a few March ARC’s I didn’t read on time, but hope to read next month. I did already read a few of the April arc’s though.

  7. I’m so sorry to hear that your week was off. πŸ™ And that your dishwasher died! I had to do dishes by hand last year during our kitchen renovation and it really sucked. I also love my dishwasher a whole lot. Lol. But look at all the new books you got! And you had a decent week of reading too. I hope this coming week is much better for you. <3

    • Our new dishwasher got installed yesterday and it was such a bliss not to have to do the dishes by hand anymore. I also never realized how much time it saves to just put everything in the dishwasher. It was only a few days, but I already had more than enough of it after that time. I can’t imagine having to do the dishes for weeks.

It was a good reading week at least :). And a lot of new books. I already started reading one of them.

  8. I hate it when major household items break down – and the dishwasher is one of the most vital… The builders crashing around doesn’t help, either… Hope this week is already a better one and washing up by hand once more soon becomes a distant memory.

    • Same here, I also hate it when major household items break down. And I certainly noticed how much I value that dishwasher now I had to without it for a week. We have our new dishwasher installed now and it’s working great :).
