The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Itβs a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This was a good week overall with a few meh days, but overall it wasn’t too bad of a week. Not much worth mentioning. It was mostly a standard week, I did some work, worked on the currently running tours and a cover reveal took place. And a new review opportunity and a new cover reveal went live on my site. I read two books this week which were both good ones. And I did a bit of gaming too. I did fell behind again on replying to comments and commenting back, but I’ll do my best to try and catch up again today! Please do know that I really appreciate all your comments!
And it seems I got lucky this week as I won two giveaways! I won a 5$ amazon gift card from an author and a print copy of a cozy mystery. I am really happy about both wins. Sorry not much to tell besides that!
Deals
Summer Haikus is on sale for only 0.99$ for a limited time. It takes place during the Olympics, so now is a great time to grab this one up. It’s one of the best contemporary romances I’ve read. And it takes place partly in Japan. It’s a great read and I would recommend it to everyone who loves a good romance. I can’t say enough good things about this book. Need more convincing? You can read my review of Summer Haikus here
Picture of the Week
I didn’t take any new pictures to share with you today. But as I was baking cheesecake on Saturday evening it seemed a good idea to repost an older picture. This picture is from my cheesecake recipe post. I really love a good cheesecake. I usually make the neutral flavor, but I’ve once eaten a flavored a cheesecake in a small cheesecake shop that was really good too. What’s your favorite cheesecake flavor or favorite cheesecake recipe?
What did I read this week?
Both were great reads! Cracked to death is the third book in a cozy mystery series about a glass shop and it’s a great series, with every book I grow fonder of this series. Bound by Faerie was a new to me author, the blurb and cover caught my attention and I was lucky enough to get a review request for it. I’ll review it on my blog next week. It’s a fun action packed and fast paced read with a snarky main character. It was a lot fo fun and I am looking forward to see were the authors take the series next!

- Wednesday: Wraps with Indian Cauliflower Mash

Book Haul:
It was a good week for books! My pre-order for Betrayals arrived! Kelley Armstrong is one of my favorite authors and I love this series so far, so I am very excited to have the next book in the series. And the Indie Author Survival Guide has been on my wishlist for a long time now, so when I saw it was on sale for only 0.99$ I grabbed it immediately. Thanks to my amazon gift card money ;). I really like her fiction books and as I’ve been picking up some non-fiction books more often lately I am really curious about this one.
Freebies I grabbed:
I grabbed the following freebies this week: Super Starrella (superheroes/ sci-fi), Boarded (sci-fi romance), Releasing Rage (sci-fi romance), Tears of Glass (sci-fi) and The Gallery of Wonders (MG fantasy).
YAY TWO GIVEAWAYS! That’s awesome π
I used to like cheesecake but then I kind of stopped liking it? But I always liked the… I don’t know a word for it. Not the smooth kind. Lol. The opposite of that. I don’t think I’ve ever had flavors, but once at Disney I had tie-dye colored cheesecake, and then my grandma made me tie-dye cheesecake for one of my birthdays because we all thought it was so cool lol.
I’m curious about Bound by Faerie, looking forward to your review π And I’m glad you had a great reading week! Sounds like a pretty good week overall, despite some meh days.
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…The Weekly Update: 8/14/16
The cheesecake I once ate form a store was very smooth, but when I make it at home it’s a bit more crumbly I guess? Not sure if that’s what you mean. Oh a tie dye colored cheesecake sounds fun! And that’s awesome your grandma made one for you.
Bound by Faerie was a fun read. I hope you’ll enjoy my review π
Ah, yes, crumbly. That is a good word for it lol. I was thinking yours looked more like the crumbly kind.
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…The Weekly Update: 8/14/16
Yes mine is the crumbly kind. I have no clue how those stores get them so smooth. But I think I might prefer the crumbly one too.
Aw, nice, you won two giveaways!I love cozy mysteries for their titles: Cracked to death, set in a glass shop! LOL!
Verushka recently posted…The Ice Child Book Review
Yes it was really neat to win two giveaways in one week :). Cozy mysteries always have such fun titles!
Nice to win twice! I don’t eat cheesecake very often but I do love it. Especially lemon cheesecake, but I prefer the ones that aren’t baked as they feel so much lighter to me!
Trish @ Between My Lines recently posted…The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News 14.08.2016 – Skillshare
I haven’t tried making a no bake cheesecake so far, but I imagine the recipe will be different then. Will have to give that a try one. Lemon cheesecake sounds good!
Congrats on winning in two giveaways, Lola! That’s awesome π And don’t you think ‘standard’ weeks are good every now and then? No surprises, just normal – which also means that there isn’t really any stress, either π
Your new books really look good, and I hope you’ll enjoy them all.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

I agree a standard week is good every now and then. And it was fun to win two giveaways in one week, I sure felt lucky :).
I am really excited about my two new books this week!
I’ll be interested in your review of Bound by Faerie as I think the cover looks great! I might just add it to wishlist!

Bound by Faerie was a great read, I think you might enjoy it. And indeed the cover looks great!
We’ve just picked up Tears of Glass, thanks to you pointing it out… I think it was you who recommended Across the Universe to me?? If it was – many thanks, I’ve just finished reading it and really enjoyed it. Bound by Faerie looks good, too… Have a great week, Lola – I’m still watching too much Olympic action as well as working VERY hard on some writing deadlines! My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/08/14/sunday-post-14th-august/
No that wasn’t me who recommended Across the Universe as I haven’t read that one. Tears of Glass looked interesting, glad to hear you picked it up as well. Bound by Faerie was a good one, I really enjoyed it! Good luck with reaching your deadlines!
Thank you, Lola:). I’ll let you know how I get on with Tears of Glass and thank you for swinging by my site:)
I hope we both enjoy Tears of Glass! Although with the amount of freebies I grab I always wonder when I actually get around to reading them.
Sorry your week was just Meh! I hope this week is better.
Don’t worry about the visits, I have been a stinky friends with my lack of visits. Just can’t seem to find the time like I had. When school starts again, I should be able to get a lot more done. I hope π
I love cheesecake. While we were away the hotel we stayed at had, Tye Dye cheesecake, it was all different colors, I never got a chance to get one but Disney cheesecake is yummy! π
I hope you have a great week, Lola! Miss Chatting with you! Happy Reading! ox

I just keep falling behind on replying to comments and commenting back and rarely find the time to do any visits beside that. I miss having the time to visit more blogs.
Oh that Tye Dye cheesecake sounds great and it must be pretty with all the different colors. That’s too bad you didn’t get the chance to get one.
I also miss chatting with you. I hope you had a great vacation!
For being a meh week sounds like a great one. How funny you mention cheesecake because I have a blackberry one in the oven right now. I typically love a New York style lemon cheesecake it’s my favorite. I hope you have a great week!!! Enjoy your new books!!!! Happy reading!!

It was a pretty okay week, but just had some meh days. Hmm blackberry cheesecake sounds delicious! I haven’t had that flavor yet or a lemon one for that matter. I like the normal one so much I rarely experiment with other flavors.
I like the cover for Bound by Faerie. I pre-ordered it. You got some great books. The food that you make looks really good. Have a wonderful weekend.

I hope you enjoy Bound by Faerie! I thought it was a great read.
It seems we all struggle with commenting and visiting everyone. Only so many hours in the day. Try not to fret about it. Everyone who blogs knows time is precious and we do our best:)
I’ve never had crumbly cheese cake but it sure looks good. Now, I’m craving something rich and sweet. LOL

That’s true! But I appreciate everyone’s comments so much and I feel bad when I have little time to reply and comment back. And yes everyone who blogs knows how much time goes into it and how precious time is. I’ve had both the smooth and the crumbly cheesecake and I like both. The cheesecake turned out great, yum!
Like you, I’m way behind with the visiting and commenting! As Laura said, there are only so many hours in the day. Your cheesecake looks delicious – yum! And I read a good review of that glass shop mystery, so I’m putting the series on my to-read list.

I agree there’s a limit of what you can do in a day. It’s just sad sometimes when you can’t do as much of what you want to. The glass shop mystery is great, the first book was just okay for me, but the later two books were really good. I hope you’ll like it!

Congrats on the giveaways! And glad you got some gaming in. I want to try the new game No Man’s Sky that just came out, it looks awesome but finding the time is the trick. I do think Cracked to Death looks fun, and Bound to Faerie sounds like it could be good too.
I love that there are so many freebies out there!
Greg recently posted…Sunday Post #155
Let me know what you think of that game once you get around to playing it! I mostly played Kingdom Rush this week, it’s a fun medieval style tower defense game.
Both were great reads :). And yes there are so many freebies out there, it’s hard not to grab them all at times.
That cheesecake looks delicious! I love all kinds of cheesecake and I always have a hard time picking one when we eat at the Cheesecake Factory. Cracked to Death sounds like fun. I’m reading Crepes of Wrath and I agree with you I’m craving pancakes lol. I hope you have a great week!!
Kathy recently posted…Weekly Wrap-Up #104
Yes it’s so difficult to choose when you’re at a cheesecake shop. Cracked to death was a fun, it’s a great series.
I hope you’re enjoying Crepes of Wrath and yes it’s really one of those books that makes you crave food, in this case pancakes. There are so many descriptions of pancakes in that book.
I love cheesecake. I really like the original with a cherry topping. But the chocolate cheesecake is good too.

I am not a fan of cherries, but chocolate cheesecake sounds great!
I don’t think I’ve read anything by Kelley Armstrong but I really do want too, and my sister loves her!

Congrats on your wins. The cheesecake looks so good. I’ve had to eat softer foods after some oral surgery and that would have fit perfectly. I hope this week is much better than last for you.

Hope you can get some cheesecake to eat soon! The cheesecake I made turned out great, it was really good!
I generally prefer plain cheesecake with some sort of berry topping. The funny things is that, while I’ve always liked cheesecake, I was never that into it until I started having gall bladder problems and couldn’t have any.
Got My Book recently posted…text: I Read Too Much | Sunday Summary #15
I usually just eat plain cheesecake if I bake it myself. When you know you can’t have anything it does suddenly seem a lot more appealing. Sorry to hear about your gall bladder problems π

It’s long gone now, good riddance. I did put on 15 lbs or so afterwards though, since I was eating anything and everything I wanted.

Have a good week. I’m just stoping by and catching up. My weekend was busy and I didn’t get my Sunday Post together.
I hope it was the good kind of busy :). I hope you have a good week too!
Grandma visit and a celebration for her birthday, so you can say it was good, but busy! ^_^

Yay for winning the giveaways. I almost bought Summer Haiku but didn’t. I’ll have to see if it’s still that price. Mmm cheesecake. I like plain, but I also like it with any type of fruit flavors. Have a great week, Lola.
Christy LoveOfBooks recently posted…The Bourbon Thief by Tiffany Reisz
I think it’s still a week or so for that price, I hope you grab a copy :). It really is an amazing read. I have had cheesecake with fruit flavor once or twice and I liked them.
omg I LOVE CHEESECAKE. I think it’s my favourite cake of ever tbh. I particularly love chocolate brownie cheesecake, which is just a chocolate base (although I eat a gluten-free one) and a vanilla top! I really like the vanilla jfdslkafdjd JUST ALL THE CHEESECAKE APPRECIATION. <3
Also congrats on your wins!! That's awesome! π

Wow, you won two giveaways? That’s awesome! I feel like I never win anything, though I did win one of your giveaways once. π That was nice. I’m glad you had a standard week with no real surprises. Sometimes those are the best kinds of weeks to have.
I do enter a lot of giveaways and it happens only rarely I win one, so two giveaways in one week was great :). And yes it was a nice week. I hope you’ll have a standard week this week as it sounds like you could use a week without too much going on.

Cheesecake? I don’t care for plain cheesecake but you add chocolate or caramel and I am so there. We have a Cheesecake Factory restaurant nearby and they have a whole menu of cheesecake options. Yum! As far as being late commenting-well here I am a week late on this one! I get so behind. Oh, and congrats on winning two drawings π
I love plain cheesecake, which is why I never get further than just making the plain one. But now I am curious about how cheesecake with chocolate and caramel tastes. I wish we had a cheesecake store closer by. We have one in a city close by, but I don’t visit as often.
And no problem on the being a week late with your comment. I am glad you still stopped by and commented. I really wish I could stay up to date with commenting.
I find there are not enough hours in the day to get all the thing I want to do done. Commenting, I love comments, seems to be at the bottom of my to do list all too often.
