sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another busy and productive week. I made a nice start on the big marketing assistant project I am working on this week. I did some work for Lola’s Blog Tours and am working on a new tour, which isn’t live yet. It was a busy week, but I also got a lot done.

If you need a good laugh, check out this post by the Bloggess or her twitter account. She experienced something awkward and twitter jumped in and started tweeting her their awkward experiences. I laughed so hard that the next day my belly muscled ached so much I could hardly move, even sitting hurted so much. A day later my muscles felt a lot better alreayd and i can mvoe normall again now.

My previous banner maker who made the tour banners for Lola’s Blog Tours stopped. I am sorry it didn’t work anymore, but luckily I found a new solution and ended up feeling positive and happy about the change. I asked Michelle from Limabean Designs if she wanted to design my tour banners and she said yes. So I have a new banner designer now! And when authors books tours they can book teaser graphics for their book as well which will be designed by Limabean Designs. I am really excited to be working with Michelel for my tour banners now as well, she designed most of the graphics for my blog and she’s done an awesome job with those, so I am sure her tour banners will be awesome too.

Christmas Recipe Exchange
And I signed up for the recipe exchange that Anna from Herding Cats and Burning Soup is hosting. I am really excited for this! It’s affordable and fun and something I can actually participate in for a chance. I got a bit overexcited and I already bought christmas cards, enveloppe’s, international stamps and something extra to ship with the card and recipe. Now I just have to wait to hear to whom I have to ship recipes, pick out a recipe and ship everything.

Random Picture(s) of the Week

Pop Molds
We bought somethgin new this week, these adorable pop molds were discoutned at our grocery store and we grabbed a few. We have this bird for me and a turtle for my boyfriend and we have another package fo six which will be a christmas package. Basically it’s a silicon mold and you put yoghurt, chocolate, custard etc inside, put it in the freezer for 6 hours and then you have ice or solid chocolate. We haven’t tried it with chocolate yet, but we did try yoghurt and custard and it turns out pretty good. We also have some fruit flavoured quark to try this week. It’s a lot of fun experimenting with different flavours.

Cocos Bread
This is something I eat frequently on my bread during lunch, it’s flatt pieces that are the same shape as cheese, but they are sweet and taste like cocos. We call it in dutch “Kokosbrood” or cocosbread literally translated. Do they sell this in the UK and the US as well? How do you call it? What do you usually eat on your bread?

What did I cook for dinner this week?

Royce–now a hockey star–would return to their hometown, too. Determined to avoid that particular sexy mistake, she’s caught off guard when her first night in town brings them face to face.

Seeing Shea practically fall at his feet is gratifying, until J.C. realizes his proud former friend, who he once thought would become a whole lot more, is truly hurt–and in more ways than she lets on. Lucky for Shea, he’s got a big house just sitting empty and a tree ready to decorate, as she is in no shape to stay by herself. With his bad boy arrogance down to an art form after eight years in the NHL, J.C. is more than a match for feisty Shea. Especially when it comes to her outrageous claim that there was never any chemistry between them…

  1. I’m glad you got Michelle to be your new banner-maker for your tours, Lola! You already know she’s awesome, and I’m happy for both of you that you’ll be working together 🙂
I have those ice / popsicle things, too, and another thing that’s really good is to just mix berries in a mixer, and pour them in, sometimes we need to add a little honey and syrup for sweetness, but that’s a pretty healthy snack as well.
Your new books look great, I can’t believe there are so many Christmas titles out already 🙁 I’m not ready!
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • Yes I was so happy she wanted to be my new banner maker! It’s nice as I already know how she works for the work she did for my blog. So excited to see her first banner design :).

Oh that’s sounds delicious! Will try to put some blended fruit in them somewhere this week. Thanks for the tip! There are so many options, we’re having fun trying out different things.

Christmas suddenly seems so close already! There are so many christmas books out already.

    • I looked through the colouring book and there are lots of awesome looking pages! I really like the style of this one. The christmas read is by an author I already know and it sounded like a fun one!

    • I’ve never seen Kokosbrood outside of the Netherlands, so I was wondering if they only sell it here. It’s really yummy.
I was a bit stressed about the banner shake up, but I am glad it got solved. I am really happy to be working with Michelle now. It sure makes it easier to work with someone I already know.

  2. I’ve never heard of cocosbread I must admit but that means nothing. I’m not much of a food person so I tend to just grab what we need and move on instead of browsing shelves! For sandwiches, I do love my cheese with a touch of salad cream! I’m a cheese fanatic!

  3. That’s awesome, I am glad you where able to find someone. I love designing my own graphics usually, its so exciting.
Last Chance Christmas by Joanne Rock looks super cute. I think I’ll be trying those nutella cookies that you tried myself, if my husband ever lets me bake ahha
Lily B recently posted…Sunday Post #3 ProductionMy Profile

    • I can’t design at all. Photoshop is one big mystery to me, so I’ll gladly pay someone to make my banners and have them look professional.

Last Chance Christmas looks like a fun one and so far I’ve enjoyed the books by this author, so I’ll hope this will be a good one!

I made the nutella cookis again today, they are really good. Let me know if you give them a try!

      • haha i know the feeling when I first got it, it made my head hurt, but I forced myself to learn it cause I do photography XD

Half the stuff on there, still makes my head hurt honestly.

So it’s a familiar author to you, that’s a good thing, I am tempting to try and not see if I can still request that book only because well >.> I have this extensive TBR pile heh

ugh.. next time I got to the store I need to get some nutella! I’ll prob make em next week. I’ll let you know.
Lily B recently posted…Sunday Post #3 ProductionMy Profile

        • It’s just so confusing. I bought it at first and thought I can make my own banners and quickly gave up as I didn’t have enough time to invest learning it. So now I just pay someone else to help me with graphics. It saves me time.

I only requested Last Chance Christmas last week, so it’s probably still on netgalley ;). I was so happy to see it on netgalley as I want to read more books by this author, the ones I read were realy good.

I hope your nutella cookies turn out great! Looking forward to hear how they turn out!

  4. I have got to go get me some coloring books! I went and bought pencils, markers, and crayons, now to choose a couple. Color Me Funky looks like a good one.
Sorry I haven’t stopped by much this week. I was doing so good on blogging ahead the last couple of months, I relaxed. Yikes! Now I’m scrambling in November. LOL Have a lovely Sunday, Lola:)

    • I am colouring one of the other colouring books in the color me funky series and I can defintiely recommend them. They are affordable and lots of unique drawings and it’s obvious the author drew them all by hand.
I don’t have as much time to blog visit thse past few weeks as I’ve wnated, so I hope I can make up for that a bit today.

    • I really should stay away from netgalley, but here are so many good ones. The pops are really easy to use, just poor the filling in, let it freexe and eat them.

    • Me too, I enjoy gorcery shopping. I am really happy with the colouring book, I looked through it and it looks awesome! I can’t wait to start colouring!

  5. I love the bloggess she cracks me up. Some of her posts are hilarious, I saw the one you are talking about and some of the feedback she got was just as funny.

I am so excited to do it for you! YAY! Thanks again for asking me!

Those pops are so cute. I have basic ones for the kids but now I need to find cute ones. I never tried yogurt or custard only juice but that is a cute ideas.

I do love Apple Butter on my bread but it has to be a good Italian bread toasted. Oh I think I need to pick up more 🙂

Enjoy all your new reads, Lola! Have a great week! ox

    • I was scrolling through the tweets on twitter that the bloggess retweeted and I laughed so much. The muscle ache the next day wasn’t as funny though. I should stop by her blog more often.

I am really excited about having you as my banner maker now!

I didn’t even realize those pops where a thing until we saw these in our grocery store discounted and they are so awesome. I love custard ice cream, my mom made them often when we were younger as it was cheaper than buying real ice cream. I like custard and it’s just as good in ice form.

I’ve never heard fo Apple Butter, it does sound yummy! We only have apple syrope here, which is nice, but I don’t like it on bread for some reason.

  6. Oh that post you linked to was too funny. I couldn’t read the whole thing because it was so long, but I got several great laughs. I’m so excited for you and Michelle – I think you’ll be a great team and be great for both of your businesses! Have a great week 🙂

    • I never participated in something like a recipe exchange before, so I am really excited for this one. I laughed so much about all the awkward tweets. I looked through the new colouring book and it looks amazing, lots of fun pages in this one.
Lola recently posted…Sunday Post #151My Profile

    • I really enjoy her posts and this one was so funny!

I usually go with either Kokosbread or cheese and pesto on my bread. I dislike trying to decide what to put on my bread, so I just have tow default options.

  7. Congrats on working with Michelle! Nice to see you guys having success in the blogosphere. 🙂 Those pop molds look good, and I’m totally a bread eater. I’m a big fan of peanut butter on toast… looking forward to your Voyager post and the vegetarian as well.
    Greg recently posted…Sunday PostMy Profile

    • I already worked with Michelle for my own blog, so I am exicted for be working with her for my tour banners now as well.
The pop molds are a lot of fun, we’re experimenting with different fillings. I like peanut butter, but rarely put it on my bread.
I hope you’ll enjoy my voyager review and the vegetarian post. I really enjoyed writing both those posts!

  8. Okay, so that kokosbrood sounds really, really interesting. What is it, actually? (Apart from awsome) I’ve definitely never heard of it in Australia. But now I really, really want to try it. And aww! Cute icepop moulds! You’re going to have me in a food frenzy after this post- frozen custard? My my, that sounds ace. I’ve never heard of such a thing! *Decides to make custard and freeze some of it tonight*
    xx

    • It’s sugary and cocos and it’s a “plak”, uhm slice? It’s pretty thin, square shaped and fits the same as a slice of cheese on your bread. It’s pretty hard to explain, lol. I hope it makes sense.

We really like the icepop molds, they are so cute and frozen custard is so yummy! We often ate it when I was a kid, so it’s pretty nostalgic. Custard is very common here and buying a package of custard and freezing it as ice was cheaper than buying ice creams. I hope you’ll like it!

    • Uh I am not sure if they would work for soaps, I never have made those myself. The package said they were for food.

I thought Death Crashes the Party looked like a fun cozy mystery, so I couldn’t resist requesting it.

I am really excited to be working with Michelle for my tour banners :).

  9. That’s great news about your partnership with Michelle. I love her designs and I can’t wait to see what she does for your tours. You picked up some interesting things this week. I love the molds and I have to see if they sell something similar here. It is great for making healthy snacks and fun too. I hope you have a great week Lola!
    Kathy recently posted…Weekly Wrap-Up #76My Profile

    • Thanks Kathy! I am really happy with this new partnership and am excited to see Michelle her designs for my banners. I am really happy with the banners she designed for my blog.
The molds are a lot of fun and the ones we have look really adorable too. It’s fun experimenting with different flavours to add in them.

    • I guess it’s something typical dutch then, I never realized they didn’t sell Kokosbrood anywhere else! It tastes a bit like a candy bar, but then it’s a flat square for on your bread, it’s really good.

I am really happy to be working with Michelle now for my banners! I am really excited about this change 🙂

The pops we have are from the brand zuko, here’s the link to their website: http://www.zokuhome.com/collections/all/products/character-pops so you can see them in more detail. They are adorable! And it’s fun to experiment with different flavours.
Lola recently posted…Review: Star Trek VoyagerMy Profile

    • Hmm cinnamon sugar toast sounds good! From the other comments, I figured they only sell Kokosbrood around here, I never realized it was something typical dutch.

    • I am really happy that Michelle will be designing my tour graphics from now one.

Yes I know what you mean, it can be hard to colour inside those tiny spaces. I have fine liner pens for them, but then the big erea’s can be a pain.

    • Thanks! I am really happy to be working with Michelle from now on 🙂

Sorry to be tempting you with the cozy book ;). I am planning to make it my next read as it sounded fun. I have no self restraint when it comes to netgalley.
Lola recently posted…Review: Star Trek VoyagerMy Profile

    • I am glad I found a new banner maker and I already worked with Michelle before, so I am really excited to have her design my tour banners as well now.

From the other comments I get the feeling that no one in either the UK, US or Australia has ever heard of Kokosbrood, so it might be something dutch. It’s really good.

  10. I look forward to seeing what your new tour banners with the teasers will look like.

The molds are a fun idea. Mine are just plain, but we enjoy freezing yogurt or fruit juice in them.

I signed up for the recipe exchange, too. And I see banners for your new 2016 challenges. I signed up for blogger shame one.

How neat! You got a coloring book to review.

    Have a good week!
Sophia Rose recently posted…The Adventuress by Tasha AlexanderMy Profile

    • The teasers will be optional, so authors have to pick that to have them included. I just saw the draft of the first banner Michelle designed and it looks great!

We’re enjoying the yoghurt and custard ones so far, I bought some quark to try out this week.

I am really excited for the recpe exchange and am looking forward to pick some fun recipes. I already added the banners for the 2016 challenges I am participating in to my sidebar, although my sign-up posts won’t be live till next month.

I know the author from her paranormal book series and was so exicted she sent me another one of her colouring books to review. It’s especially awesome as I hardly ever get physical copies for review. I am looking forward to start colouring this one!
Lola recently posted…Review: Star Trek VoyagerMy Profile

    • I need to make more time for colouring, I haven’t coloured in weeks. It’s very relaxing indeed and a lot of fun. I guess Kokosbrood is something typically dutch as so far no one knew what it was, I never realized it was something we only have here. The pop molds are very handy, we mostly filled them with yoghurt and custard so far, have to try chocolate soon.

  11. I love Michelle’s blog, glad you’re working with her. The adult colouring books are huge in Australia, they’re quite relaxing. Visiting your blog always makes me hungry lol. I love the idea of the Christmas recipe exchange … might check it out. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂
