sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was better than last week, but still not very good. It was just a bit meh. I just felt off. Lots of days with me not feeling like doing anything, I had no motivation for fun stuff, nothing seemed fun. I did my work done and even managed to fit soem marketing assistant work, so at leats that part went right. I just felt out of it, no motivation for anything. It was a bit frustrating. I did got a lot of reading done on my ipad, but skipping lots of evenings reading even though I was reading a fun book.

We’re still struggling a bit with Snickers. She’s still a bit down, but we’re slowly getting into a new routine. Snickers spends some time out of her cage, either sitting with me or in her vacation house, she loves her vacation house. But I feel like I never give her enoguh attention, when cooking or when I am busy I sometimes forget to get her out of the cage and I feel bad as she’s all alone there now. I opened a new bag of rat food I still had lying around and she seems to love it, so after we switched food she started eating a bit more, which is good. Her hind legs are pretty weak, but she does manage to move around, it just goes a bit difficult when she has to climb. And she is still scratching a lot to the point of getting bald spots or small wounds. We aren’t sure if she has parasites or is just stressed. We did buy some meds which should help against parasites, but haven’t given it to her yet. We also bought a new toy for her, it’s actually a cat toy, but it’s made of fleece, which can’t fray and thus is also great for rats. And some cardbox cat scratching mats, which a site recommend to use as stairs in the rat cage for rats with weak hindlegs as they have more grip on that. So we’re going to give that a try when she gets worse, for now she still managed to get up the stairs.

I did a bit of cleaning around the house. And made cheesecake cookies, but I didn’t like them sadly. I got queasy after eating 3 of them and then decided to just throw them away, which had me craving cookies for the rest of the week and no time to make any. So I made cinnamon mug cakes a lot. I tried a new recipe on Saturday and made Japanese Curry from scratch as I was suddenly craving it after seeing someone mentioned the dish on social media. But it failed horrible, the taste was horrid. I’ll buy a package next time I want to eat it. Ugh I hate it when my cooking fails.

I set up a new recipe post for Mango Lassi for next week, I moved some posts around, but as it’s a summery recipe I was to post it during summer. I also made most of the recipe post for the cinnamon mug cake. And have a few more posts planned, but still have to write them. I am a bit behind on my ramblings posts due to last week, but at least I am still ahead of schedule with the recipe posts. I just haven’t felt any inspiration to write ramblings posts.

On Wednesday I woke up with a terrible headache, so I ate my breakfast and slept for another hour. But even after sleeping for extra long the headache stayed. I wasn’t very productive, until after dinner when I watched 3 episodes Star Wars with my boyfriend and the headache finally left. Then I was able to do some work. I had contact about two tours for authors who won one during an auction I am going to start organizing those soon and I got a new request for a cover reveal, so that was good news.

Saturday our new dinner table arrived. It was my boyfriend their parent their old dinner table. My boyfriend and his dad sanded it and painted it anew so it looks like new. We had a very large wooden table that was painted black and was pretty ugly. So I am really happy with our new wooden dinner table. It’s a lot smaller, but we don’t really need a large table as it’s only the two of us. We only have two chairs at the moment as the other two still have to get sanded and painted.

The top-selling, beloved indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths returns with a new romance about a young woman who loses her memory—and the man who knows that the only way to protect her is to stay away.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

    • Thanks! I hope Snickers perks up soon, but to be honest half of me is also afraid she’ll never will and just deteriorates further as she’s pretty old for a rat already.

I heard good things about this series by KA Tucker so I am looking forward to give it a try, I’ll keep in mind what you said about the first book not being your favourite. Is Chasing River the one that takes place in Ireland? I read a lot of great reviews about that one. I sure went a bit crazy with all the new books this week 😉

    • Snickers is pretty stressed from Smarties passing away as she doesn’t deal well with being alone and she’s an older rat already, so that brings it’s own problems. It’s been a crazy few weeks and I don’t take enough time to relax, maybe next week will be better.

I agree cheesecake cookies sound yummy, but they weren’t for me, not sure why, but ugh my stomach didn’t like them at all. I’ll just bake cheesecake next time.

    • Thanks I hope so too. At least it’s good she still enjoys her food, although she’s pretty picky on what she will eat.

I sure got a lot of new books this week. I am already reading one of them and I hope I can read the others soon as well.

    • I also enjoy baking more in the winter, it’s way too hot to bake, but at least the mug cakes are done quickly. And I have too much of a sweet tooth, not to bake in summer, even though it’s warm.

I heard so many great things about that KA Tucker series I bought it for myself as I had a good month with Lola’s Blog Tours and thought I deserved a treat.

  1. Not a great week, then… but a very pretty table 🙂 I heard that Burying water and the Red wings series are very good, so enjoy ! Check out the pad thai dressing recipe I left as a com with the pasta salad post and tell me if you like it. Have a better week 🙂

    • The new table was one of the better things that happenes this week. The Rebel Wings series is great, I am now reading Torn Sky and I really like this series. I heard so many good things about Burying Water that I had to give it a try.

I’ll check out your comment on the pasta salad post later this evening and see if I can give the dressing a try!

    • I only have read the novella so far, which I enjoyed so I decided to request this one on netgalley as well. Now to get my hands on copies of the first two books as well. I think she’s going to be an author whom’s books I enjoy, I like books that feel a bit different.

    • Indeed Star Wars is good for getting rid of headaches. The cat bowl is also great for rats luckily, I like this one as well 🙂

  2. That is no fun when your motivation just isn’t there and you’re feeling yucky on top of that. Glad the headache went away. You might have some cooking fails, but I’m a huge admirer of how adventurous you are to try new recipes.

Sounds like Snickers misses her pal, but you’re doing a great job of keeping her spirits up.

So cool about the new table and wow, didn’t they do a great job on it!

    Enjoy your new books.

    • There are also a lot of weeks when I just stay with tried and true recipes as it can be hard to try new recipes, but it’s also fun.

It’s just so sad to see Snickers missing Smarties. She never dealt well with being alone and it seems to have hit her hard to lose Smarties.

It’s amazing to see how some work can transform such a table and make it look like new, so happy with the new table and how it looks!

    • Thanks :). I am really happy with the new table, the old one we had was ugly and painted black badly. This one is so pretty, I love wooden furniture.
I saw on facebook you had a bit of a rough week as well. I hope things are going better there too.
I am just so worried about Snickers and am afraid she won’t live much longer either, she’s so down :(.

    • She’s a pretty old rat and we don’t know how much longer she will live, so we’re giving her as much attention and yummy food as possible. I wish we had come up with vacation house idea earlier as she loves it.

  3. I’m sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down. But just give yourself a little time to recover, you’ve had a few losses of pets over the past while and it’s bound to have an effect on you. I hope this week is better. I always think when you feel like that you shouldn’t pressurise yourself to read or blog or whatever, just do things that make you feel good in your free time.
I’m so glad you are going to post a recipe for your mug cake, I need to make one of those as I never have. They look like fun and I love that you can do individual portions.
Great books too. I’m delighted to see Burying Water and Caching In looks like fun too.

    • Thanks! The hard part is that I don’t know what I feel like doing, so blogging was easy as at least that went okay. I didn’t have any motivation to read or do anything. I hope this week is better.

I had some really bad luck with mug cakes, but this oen is so good! Every evening I have a craving for something sweet I just make on of those. It’s warm yummy and delicious. And it’s so handy to just put it in the microwave for 1 minute and it’s done. And indeed the individual portions are great.

You’re part of the reason I finally added Burying Water to my to-read list and bought it, as you recommended it to me on one of my review posts. I am looking forward to finally starting this series!

  4. Oh no. I’m sorry to hear that your week was so meh. I hate it when a funk just grabs ahold and won’t let go. I’ve had a lot of those lately which is why I’m glad I’m on vacation now! Hoping to be inspired and relaxed this week. I hope your week is better too! Hugs.

    • Me too, headaches are the worst. Our previous rats all loved rice, eggs and corn as well. Although I try not give them too much corn as they often get diarrhea from it. Our rats ever liked peas. I tried throwing peas in the bath so they could dive and pick them up, but they weren’t interested.
