sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

It wasn’t a bad week, but it was still quite busy, but in a good way. There’s a new Review Opportunity open for sign-up and one of the cover reveals I organized took place this week. Now we’re gearing up for the february tours!

Ugh Tuesday really wasn’t a good day. I came out of bed sleepy and didn’t shake that feeling for the rest of the day. I cleaned the rat cage and I felt like I was moving in slow motion and my mind was foggy the whole day. Then to cheer myself up I was going to make lemon meringue pie, I emssed up the meringue, the blind baking and the lemon filling. The blind baking didn’t go right and it sagged. The meringue didn’t form peaks. And the lemon filling was bitter. I have no clue what I did wrong with the filling though, the other two I know what to do different. So we threw the whole pie away as it was just gross. Then I got a horrible headache and a papercut. It really wasn’t my day. Although I do have inspiration now for a Lola’s Kitchen posts about my cooking disasters and I even have a picture of the lemon pie (although the picture doesn’t show how bad it tasted).
Luckily wednesday was better, although I slept till really late to get rid of the headache.

Pita is still going up and down. It’s weird one moment she looks perfectly healty and the other moment she looks so bad I am afraid we’re going to loose her. She scratched herself so hard she got a wound in her side and after the bath on tuesday she kept shaking with her head. I worry so much about her. The last few days she looks better again and if everythgin goes right she’ll be off the medicine on monday.

I did some blogging this weekend and managed to write 3 new Lola’s Ramblings posts and came up with a few new topics. I got behind on blog commenting and eventually just hit read on everything in my bloglovin feed and started anew saturday. Friday was a crazy day on the blog with 3 different blog posts. Next week will be a busy week, but with one posts each day instead of them cramped into one day. And I scheduled some reviews a bit later so I hope I can get ahead with my reviews as well. I am still hanging around the 40 scheduled posts, so I am hoping to stay around that number.

WinterCoyer
I finished six books so far, so I am happy with how well I am doing. I am about halfway into my seventh book The Mind by John Heldt, it’s a time travel book, but reads more like a historical romance.

Scavanger-Hunt-Readathon
I finished my first book for this challenge in one sitting on last sunday evening and scored 10 points with that! yay! And my current read The Mine will also count for this, still have to figure out how much points I get for it, 5 I think.

New-Release-Challenge
And I joined another challenge. I am so excited for this challenge and I love the idea of a challenge for 2015 new releases. I often read a lot of books released in the current year, so this challenge is perfect for those book. My challenge sidebar widget is getting a bit large now, but I like seeing all those beautifull banners in my sidebar, or maybe that’s just me. I was considering removing it as it’s so large now, but I think for now I’ll leave it there as I like it :).

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Sunday: Lasagan Soup – new recipe
  • Monday: Sauerkraut with sausages, pineapple and mashed potatoes – new recipe
  • Tuesday: Risotto with Apple and Corn
  • Wednesday: Cashew nut curry – new recipe
  • Extra: Sugar Cookies – recipe post coming in June
  • Thursday: Curry sauce with potatoes from the oven – new recipe
  • Friday: leftover Curry sauce with potatoes from the oven
  • Saturday: Curried Cauliflower and masala seasoned tufo and chicken – new recipes

Random Picture(s) of the Week

I didn’t take any pictures this week, except for the failed lemon pie, but I am saving that for my cookign disaster posts. And I tried making pictures of Smarties and Snickers, but they ended up as blurs on the pictures.

This week I blogged about:

    • Yeah it was so frustrating to mess up the pie that should help me feel less frustrated. And I had hoped that even without the meringue the pie, would be good, but no. Really I am going to stay with cookies for a while instead of pies at least I don’t mess those up.

It was a productive week at least. We’re hoping Pita will be doing better, but we’re probably having to go for a vet visit again this week.

Looking forward to delve into those Joanne Rock books soon, I am in the mood for some romances.

  1. I’m glad your Wednesday was better than Tuesday! And I really hope Pita will improve so you can be less worried about her!

318 and Decode both look really good, I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of them, Lola!

Those challenges kind of sneak up on us, no? I have loads this year, too, even more than last year, but I really wanted to do all of them – so there you go. You’re doing really well on COYER, and I’m sure you’ll rock your other challenges as well.

Have a fantastic Sunday, a great week, and happy reading.

    • We’re probably having to go to the vet again this week, I am afraid she might have an ear infection as well as her ear looks gross and she keeps shaking her head.

I already have read two books by this authors in her Legacy Code series, but now I have to read her two defect books first and then on to this one as that’s the recommended reading order. It’s a great sci-fi series, a bit depressing at times and some serisouly messed up stuff happens, but it’s really good.

I never did any reading challenges beside the goodreads one before this year and now I am entering a bit too much, but so far I am keeping up with them and enjoying it :). I am kinda wonderign why I never participated in these challenges before.

You have a great week as well 🙂

    • Creepy and delicious looking is a good description of this authors style so far, her books are a bit dark, but good as well. I have the same issue I follow so many blogs, but I don’t want to unfollow any and then some days I just can’t keep up and hitting read all is the only solution sometimes.

    • I make sure to take some time for myself and read an hour every evening. I am really excited for all the books I got this week and hope to read them soon!

    • I am afarid she might need new medication now for her head/ear thing. Got a look into her ear today and it looks gross, so she might have an ear infection now :(.

The recommended readign order to starts with the Legacy Code books, then the Defect books and then these two. I have read her Legacy Code books, but still have to read the two Defect books and these. They are multiple series that are all connected and take place in the same universe.

Thanks for checking out my tours! Most of my readign challenges work pretty well together so I hope I am able to succeed in all of them.

    • I was planning to make it without the meringue this time, but that faield as well. I like the meringue, although it doesn’t really ad much in terms of taste. And indeed I never heard of lemon pie without the merignue, athough I don’t see why not.

I am doign pretty well with my challenges, but I understand what you mena, every time I finish a book I now have to think for whcih challenge it qualifies and/ or add that book to the recap post.

    • I didn’t think the bowl was fat free in this case as I fished out some egg shells with my hands, probably shouldn’t have done that. I didn’t want to waste anymore eggs to try it again.

    • I hope so too, but I am afraid we’re due for another vet visit this week as her ears don’t look good and she keeps shaking her head.

    • I am thinking it would be worth it to just buy lemon meringue pie instead of attempting to bake it. I’ll stick to baking cookies for now, I thnk that’s more my forte than cakes.
Thanks Kimba, hope you have a great week as well!

    • I don’t think I’ll attempt meringues another time, ugh what a failure it was. It hard to get it right indeed.

It’s so sad to see Pita like this, now we’re afraid she might have a ear infection because of her shaking her head and her ears look gross. I guess that will be another vet visit this week.

It wasa good cooking week, with lots of new recipes, I am making some familiar ones this week. And I will be sharing my favourite pasta recipe on the blog this week!

    • I am pretty happy with getting ahead on the blog, itmakes em feel happy :). And the scavenger hunt is fun, even though I probably will only read two or three books.

    • I still have no clue what was wrong. I mean there was sugar in there, so how did it end up being bitter? I am still craving lemon meringue pie, but I am not going to try it again.

We had another vet visit today with Pita and got medicines for her ear, so hopefully that will help.

    • It was nice, but I like it more in sauce, it was a bit too powdery now. Basically you put cauliflower in an oven safe bowl and added lots of curry powder and some other spices and then put it in the oven for 40 minutes.

    • Yeah it wasn’t the best week, especially with that start on tuesday. This kithcne disaster made me really sad as I was really looking forward to pie.
The cashew curry turned out pretty good, definitely will be making that one again!

  2. Next time you have one of those headaches, try pepper mint essential oil : I put a drop here and there at the limit of my hair and my forehead, it brings great relief and dampens the headaches. It looks like Pita is due to another trip to the vet, poor little one. Have a better week – and give a caress to Pita 😉

    • Oh I never heard of that method, might have to buy a bottle of mint essential oil once to give it a try. Thanks for the tip!
I have those headaches once every two week usually, often due to too less sleep. Sometimes it sucks needing 10 hours of sleep every night.

We went with Pita to the vet today, she probably has an ear infection so we got medicines for that. Hope I have better news next sunday!

    • I always hate it when bakings fail, although at leats I cna now use it for my blunder recipe post. That must have been weird when a pie you made before fails. But glad to hear you was able to salvage it with ice cream.

That’s what I like about cookies, even though they look horrible, they usually stil taste great.

I still have no clue what I did wrong with that lemon pie, which makes it even more frustrating. I am just giving up on making lemon pie for now, I have no inspiration to try again.

    • I have to cook every day, because else we have no dinner, but some days I don’t have much motivation either. Most days I don’t mind cooking and enjoy doing something different than sitting behind my computer for a bit.
