Sunday Post #65

sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week actually was okay. I had some time to read and the week just felt a little less busy than the few weeks before this.

I did have to go to the dentist this friday to have my teeth get cleaned. The appointment wasn’t as bad as I expected, I had a nice dentist who talked a lot, which helps calm my nerves because then I have something else to focus on. And my teeth now look white again, they always get a bit brown because I drink so much black tea.
And tomorrow I have to go to the dentist again for fixing the other half of cavities :(. I will be so glad when that’s over. I just keep reminding myself that after tomorrow I won’t have to go there for a half year.

And I finally heard back from the job interview I had two weeks ago and they choose another candidate. They said the talk went well, but I didn’t fit that well into their team. This makes me both sad and a bit relieved, because I always have my doubts about a job and after a talk the job always sounds less good then it sounded on paper. This does mean I have to continue my job search, ugh I hate job searching so much. I just need a parttime job for one or two days in the week, but I can’t find a good job that close and actually hires me.

This week was a nice busy week on the blog again, but next week will be a bit more quiet.

Face TimeFace Time (Love In The Digital Age #1)
by SJ Pajonas

Format: e-copy

You can find on Goodreads

Blurb:
After the best first date ever, Lee thought Laura was funny, intelligent, and impulsive; a whirlwind of bright laughter and happiness. Laura loved Lee’s sweet smile and the way he expertly filled in every awkward pause. He held her hand and then pulled her in for the most perfect kiss she’s had in years. What could possibly be wrong? Just the 7000 miles that separates them the next day.

Even though Lee has gone home to Seoul, Laura can’t stop thinking about him. What starts as an innocent text thanking him for their dinner date becomes something much more: someone either of them can’t live without. But Laura’s got a live-in mother going through a midlife crisis, and Lee’s stressful traveling schedule means they’ll be apart for some time. Life, family, and a complicated past also get in the way, and they’re both going to need actual face time to figure it out.

Told from both Lee and Laura’s point of view, FACE TIME is a funny, romantic, modern-day story about two people who connect across the world.

Foretold (Sister of Fate #1)foretold
by Rinda Elliot

Format: e-copy
Source: for review from Netgalley
You can find on Goodreads

Blurb:
It is written that three Sisters of Fate have the power
to change the world’s destiny.
But only if they survive…

The Lockwood triplets have had the prophecy drummed into their heads since birth. Still, Raven, the eldest of the sisters, can’t believe it’s really happening. She’s the reincarnation of a Norse goddess? One of the sisters is destined to die? When it starts snowing in summer in Florida, the sisters fear the worst has come to pass. Ragnarok, the Norse end of the world, has begun.

Raven finds herself the secret protector of Vanir, a boy with two wolves, a knowledge of Norse magic and a sense of destiny he can’t quite explain. He’s intense, sexy and equally determined to save her when it becomes clear someone is endangering them. Raven doesn’t know if getting closer to him will make a difference in the coming battle, but her heart isn’t giving her a choice.

Ahead of the sisters is the possibility of death at the hand of a warrior, death by snow, death by water or death by fire.

Or even from something else…

Sisters of Fate
The prophecy doesn’t lie: one is doomed to die.

In Red at Night, Stella and Jonah are total opposites. She’s the girl with purple hair from the wrong part of town. He’s a high school senior who hangs with the cool crowd. Until a car accident leaves him haunted by guilt, and Jonah starts spending time at Stella’s favorite refuge…the local cemetery.

Stella knows she should keep her distance—after all, she spent her girlhood being bullied by Jonah’s friends. Once he’s sorted out his tangled emotions, Jonah won’t have time for her anymore. Too bad she’s already fallen for him…

At least after tomorrow I don’t have to go there for another half year, I just wish it was over already. I really hope I find a good part time job soon.

  1. Dre @ Sporadic Reads

Oh, Lola, I’m sorry about the job! But like you said, you didn’t really feel like you wanted the job. Maybe another one that’s better will come your way. I do like Red at Night by Katie Mcgarry, I’m going to check that out 🙂 Happy weekend!

Indeed, let’s hope I find a better job :). I think due to some mistake from Kobo I could already download Red at Night, I love the cover!

  2. Michelle

Bummer you didn’t get the job but maybe it just wasn’t meant to be, something better is probably right around the corner waiting for you 🙂

I dread the Dentist, my least favorite place to go, I get the chills just thinking about it lol

Red at Night I love the cover, will have to check it out

Have a great week! Good Luck at the Dentist <3

Let’s hope there is a better job waiting for me, I am so sick of job searching and really hope I find something soon. I just send out a few more applications today.

I am so nervous to go to the dentist, even though it usually doesn’t hurt that much, I still hate to go. The whole atmosphere and the smell of the dentist building, ugh, terrible. I’ll be so happy when I am walking back home tomorrow after my dentist visit.

I hope the rest of my week will be good.

  3. Samantha Stewart

Urgh. I hate the dentist too. Job searching sucks too 🙁
Ooh, I haven’t heard of any of the books you got this week but I’ll definitely be checking them out!
    Great haul! Happy reading 😀

I am really not looking forward to tomorrow, but after then I won’t have to go there for another half year, so that’s good.
And I hate job searching so much and I always mess up the interviews. It’s like they know I don’t actually want that job that much and just need the money.

    • Lola

I already read Face Time, I just had to start it as soon as I received it, SJ Pajonas is one of my favourite authors. And I loved Face Time so much! It’s such an original romance story. I would definitely recommend it!

  4. Amanda @ Book Badger

I’m sorry to hear about the job hun, I can completely understand what you mean. I’m looking for a part or full time position in retail and they’re not easy to come by locally to me, but just keep trying, I’m sure something will come up soon, it has to, right? Red at Night sounds pretty cute and Katie McGarry is well loved, so it should be good 😀

At the moment I am not even picky anymore about what kind of job, I have a fun job already (Lola’s Blog Tours, my own company), but I just need a part time job next to it for some extra money. Eventually I should be able to find something, right? Job searching is such a pain in the ass though, it’s difficult to find good jobs and then you still have to apply and do interview and such. Good luck with your job searching! I hope you find something soon!

I have read the first two book in Katie McGarry her Pushing the Limits series, I hope I have to catch up on the rest of the books soon.

  5. A Voracious Reader

Sorry about the job, but something awesome could just be around the corner. *fingers crossed* I’m going to start looking for something part time that I can do from home, acquistions or content editing are up my alley. I just need a litle income to make up for the change in my husband’s schedule (less OT unfortunately). Have a great week! 🙂

Sorry to hear about your husband’s change in schedule :(, that’s unfortunate. I hope you find a fun job! I also am considering another job from home, but I don’t know what. I considered editing, but I am not sure whether I am the right person for that, I am critical, but I am not that good at grammar. I hope I find something good soon.

  6. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas)

Oh no. Sorry about the job hunt. It’s such a pain when you could really use something just to fill in the gaps. I hope something opens up for you soon. I also drink a load of black tea so going to the dentist feels good to get the teeth all bright and shiny again.

I’m glad you got to read FACE TIME this week! It gave me great joy to see you update on Goodreads and I’m so happy you enjoyed it 🙂

Ugh I hate job hunting, but on the other hand I am still kinda glad I didn’t got this job as I hope to find one closer by. I mean I know this part time job isn’t going to be for fun and then I prefer to at least have as little travel time as possible.
The dentist this friday suggested drinking green or white tea and I was like “but I like black tea better”. I drink a lot of earl grey tea, my favourite flavour, but i also lvoe fruit teas.

Just hurry up and go write the sequel ;). I can’t wait to read it! But then again it doesn’t matter what you write, I’ll read it anyway, I don’t think you can write something I won’t enjoy.

  7. Peggy @ The Pegster Reads

I usually need to get ‘knocked out’ when having anything done by the dentist now after a few bad experiences… bad I know but I can’t help it! I’d rather pay the extra money for sedation. Sorry to hear about the job as well, but sounds like it’s better for you anyway. It’s pretty bad here in the UK with jobs for certain things. My son wants to find a part time job in retail while he still goes to college, but there is just nothing. He applied so often and does not even get interviews, having no experience doesn’t help I suppose.
Have a great week and Happy Reading!
    My Sunday post is here

I have some experience, but for the some jobs I am too old or I have a too high education. Not that they say that, but it’s obvious that are the reasons or there just is a candidate that’s better suited for the job. And I don’t want a full time job. So yeah that really complicates things. It’s not a good time to be looking for a job, maybe in a year or so the job market will be better again.
I had the ‘no experience’ problem after I just graduated, it’s so frustrating! I wanted to work, but no one would hire me because I didn’t have any experience (beside the 3 year working at a bakery department in a supermarket on saturdays).

    • Lola

Yeah I don’t think there is anyone who actually likes to go there. The only person I know who doesn’t mind going to the dentist is my sister.

    • Lola

Indeed all 3 of these books have beautifull covers! I already read face Time (loved it!) and I hope to read Foretold soon.

  8. Jeann @ Happy Indulgence

Yay, I didn’t know Katie McGarry had another novel coming up, thanks for letting me know. How bizarre, I actually went to the dentist last week too! I was so nervous, I hate visiting the dentist and the drill and have to go back a few weeks time for a filling. Good luck with the job hunt, it’s a tough market out there but you’ll find something sooner or later. Keep up the hunt!

Red at Night actually should be a pre-order, but I think Kobo made a mistake as I could already download it. You can pre-order it for free from amazon :).

I am always so nervous when I have to go to the dentist, but on the other hand I do feel really relieved now I know I won’t have to go there for another half year, yay!

Yeah it’s a tough job market and I’ve been searching for so long already. Let’s hope I find something soon. I send out some applications to jobs that sounded promising this week.

    • Lola

I hope you enjoy Face Time 😀

How I got Red at Night is a bit of a weird story, I actually went to amazon to pre-order it. But apparently you can’t pre-order a free book without having as credit card. So I thought let’s see if Kobo has it and then it was for free and I could actually already download it. I do have to read Crash Into You first though.

The dentist visit didn’t go well, I was so nervous! But at leasts it over now.
