The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Itβs a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This week was crazily busy, but in the best way. I had a lot of work to do this week. Two new book blitzes, a review opportunity and a new cover reveal went live on Lola’s Blog Tours. And I got some hours marketing assistant done this week as well. I like being busy.
On Wednesday my mom and I went to lunch together and did a bit of shopping. I got a belated birthday present/ early Christmas present: a kitchen aid (I think that’s the correct translation). I can’t wait to try it out! I haven’t had time to give it a try yet, but I did rummage through the box and read a bit of the information folder that came with and there’s so many different things I can use it for. I am sure it will be easier to make hummus with this than with the hand blender.
I did fall behind on replying to comments again, but I’ll just try and accept that I can’t do much blogging during the week and focus on that in the weekend instead. I did got a Lola’s Advice and Lola’s Kitchen post written and scheduled this week, so at least I got something blog related done. Oh and sign-ups for Winter Coyer are open! I already scheduled m sign-up post for December and am looking forward to the start of this reading challenge as I always have a lot of fun with this challenge!
Picture of the Week
I bought the pumpkin soup kit again and made it this week. And I made pictures and typed out a recipe post for it, so keep an eye out for the recipe early January. It’s such a delicious soup, yum!
What did I read this week?
I hate to admit it, but I didn’t finish a single book this week. I did make good progress on my current reads. I am about two thirds along with The Jakkattu Vector and it’s pretty good. I especially like the well done world building and how there are characters with certain ideas of the world and place in it and get those challenged. It keeps my attention. I am almost finished with Sweet Little Lies, but didn’t manage to finish it yesterday, so I probably finish that today. It’s a great read and I can’t wait to read the rets of the series, although the conflict bothered me a bit. I had a bit of money to spend on for books, so I bought book two in the series. I already have book three thanks to edelweiss, but didn’t have book 2 and prefer to read the series in order.
What did I cook for dinner this week?

Book Haul:
Beauty and the Space Beast I got for review. I really like the cover for this one and am looking forward to reading it. Tech Your Heart I got from the author as I signed-up to post about the book on release day. I probably will try and review the book on that day as well. I have so many books by this author and really want to give one of her books a try. Reaped From Faerie I got for review as well, the first book was really good, so I hope to read this one soon. The Trouble with Mistletoe I bought myself as I am currently reading the first book in the series and am enjoying it and want to read the series in order. I hope to review book 3 early January, so I want to try and fit this one in first.
Freebies I grabbed:
I got the following freebies this week (they were free when I got them):
- Bought The Farm by Jeff Shelby (Cozy Mystery) Amazon|Goodreads
- Diary of a Single Wedding Planner by Violet Howe (Contemporary Romance) Amazon|Goodreads
- Awaken by Rachel M. Humphrey-D’aigle/ Humphrey Quinn (fantasy) Amazon|Goodreads
- Chase Tinker and the House of Magic by Malia Ann Haberman (Fantasy) Amazon|Goodreads
I seem to have a good balance of reading, blogging and TV for the most part and it’s nice to find more time to visit other blogs instead of a mad rush at the weekend! You sound as if you are very busy at the moment! Have a good weekend!

I am still hoping to find that balance, I am still at that point where in the weekend I try and get as much commenting done that I didn’t get done during the week.
My goodness, you are busy! Glad that you managed to take a day out to go shopping with your mother. Mum and I always have a blast when we shop together:). Beauty and the Space Beast sounds like it could be great fun – I’m looking forward to seeing what you make of it. Have a great week-end and take care. Yes it seems with this business I am either really busy or I don’t have any work at all. My mom and I had a great time catching up, we do skype sometimes, but nothing beat seeing each other face to face. I hope I can read Beauty and the Space Beast soon as it sounds fun!
Looks like you had a busy week! And that soup looks delish!

This week was another busy one. The soup was really good!
I’ve had a hard time keeping up with blogging too. I was able to get caught up yesterday (I think). Now, here’s hoping I can stay caught up. I haven’t been reading very much either. If it weren’t for audiobooks, I wouldn’t be getting much of anything done. I hope you’re able to get caught up. I hope you’re able to get more reading in too. π Have a great week.

I just keep falling behind again with blogging, then I catch up again and repeat. I did get a bit more read this week, but still not very much.
Yay for work picking up and that you were able to also get some posts written and make the yummy pumpkin soup. The Kitchen Aid sounds like it will make things much easier so glad you and your mom were able to shop and pick it out.
I went several days without finishing a book, but I’ve got two that are almost done so I guess it will even out in the end.
I look forward to your thoughts on several in your book haul. I wonder if that sci-fi is a mash up with Beauty and the Beast with such a title. I’ll have to go check.
Enjoy your week!

It’s been nice to have a few busy weeks work related. And I am really glad I got those two posts written last week as I have no clue when I have time to write more. I normally am pretty ahead with posts, but not as much now.
It’s just weird to say I finished no book this week as it just turned out that way I started them at the start of the week and didn’t finish them yet by the end. I did read a bit more this week, but still not as much due to being busy.
I hope to read that sci-fi Beauty and the Beast book next. I quite enjoyed the first book, but I have high hopes that this one will be even better. The first book was free last week, I thought I tagged you on fb, but not sure if you saw that.
Sounds like you had a great week. I love shopping with my mom. I had a slow reading week this week, considering I had to “DNF” a book π and I hate doing that. Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen

Sorry you had to DNF a book :(. I also hate doing that, but sometimes it’s better than forcing yourself to continue reading a book you don’t enjoy. You have a great week too!
You have been awesome busy π I have been busy too, I had some banners to make π
I never had a Kitchen Aid, I always wanted one but never got one. I tend to do everything the old fashioned way. lol
Love Pumpkin Soup, so glad it came out yummy!
I am also looking forward to COYER, I am going to spend some time finding new books and organizing my Kindle and Goodreads shelves to make sure I know what books qualify for COYER. I am so bad a reading last week, I miss it.
I hope you have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

Thanks for the awesome tour banners :). I am always excited to see how they will turn out. I am not even sure how to sue the kitchen aid or for what, but I am excited to give it a try. I only wanted a simple one to make hummus, but somehow ended up with one with lots of functions and now I am excited to use it.
I started making a collection for free books on amazon, but it was taking too much time, so I’ll have to continue later. I always have so much fun with Coyer, so I can’t wait for it to start :).
Seems like we both had a bad reading week :(. This week was a bit better for me in terms of reading.
I love the freebies. You got some really interesting looking books this week. That soup looks really tasty.

Glad you like the freebies! The soup was very tasty.
Glad you had a good week! I don’t know if I’ve ever had pumpkin soup, but it looks kinda good?! I didn’t read a lot this week either, although towards the end I made some progress. I need to read more Kelley Armstrong, and looking forward to your post on reviewing.
Beauty and the Space Beast- I like that the guy’s blue. π And Reaped from faerie is hopefully good.
Greg recently posted…Sunday Post #169
I only tried pumpkin soup for the first time last year I think. I really like this way of preparing pumpkin soup. I’ll do a recipe post for it early January.
I like the cover for Beauty and the Space Beast and how alien blue that guy looks. I enjoyed the first book in that series, so I hope Reaped From Faerie is good too!
I’m glad you had a good busy week! That definitely does sound good π Sorry you didn’t get too much reading done though. I guess we can’t be the same *every* week lol. At least you got some nice looking new books.
I’m glad the soup turned out good, and sure the new kitchen aid will be really helpful! By the way, I just got back from grocery shopping, and I found these stroop waffle cookie things with caramel filling between them and I feel like I remember you sharing something like that and it says they’re Dutch, and I bought them because they sound good and was all excited to tell you lol. I haven’t tried them yet though.
Have a great week!

It was nice to have such a busy week :). Although it did cut into my reading time a bit. I did manage to finish Sweet Little Lies on sunday morning though, so I just barely missed reading it this week, lol.
The soup was great and I am looking forward to share the recipe. I am excited to try out the kitchen aid, maybe next weekend, didn’t have time this weekend.
Oh that’s exciting your found stroop wafels there! Let me know how you like them when you give them a try! I really like stroop wafels :).
Glad your week has been busy. It sure makes the days go by much faster. I’m probably one of the few people who do not like pumpkin pies, soup, cakes, etc. (lol) and cringe everytime I start seeing all these pumpkins in patches or people’s yards. I see you picked up one of my faves – Jill Shalvis, and that sauerkraut casserole sounds interesting. HUGE Hugs…

Yes being busy sure makes the days go by fast! We all have different tastes, I like pumpkin, but there’s also lots of things I don’t like. The sauerkraut casserole is perfect for this time of the year, it’s sauerkraut with pineapple then sausage on top (or vegetarian ones) and mashed potatoes above that.
Jill Shalvis is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors, just finished Sweet Little Lies and hope to start The Trouble with Mistletoe soon.
Oooo, pumpkin soup, interesting! I’ve never had anything like that. My mother makes this kind of pureed/almost-liquefied pumpkin sauce dish? Not soup since it’s still solid. Anyway, not my thing, but it’s cool to look at. π I have seen that Shalvis book everywhere! I have Sweet Little Lies but have not read it. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
Have a fabulous week. π

My boyfriend his mom sometimes made something similar to what you described, I think it was cooked pumpkin and then it got pureed. Not quite soup, it was thicker, but pretty good as sidedish. I quite liked it.
I really enjoyed Sweet Little Lies and hope to start book 2 soon.
It does sound like you had an excellent week! And despite not finishing any of your current reads, you did make progress on them, so that’s great too.
I’m wondering what you’ll make first in your KitchenAid! How exciting that you got this great kitchen tool! I love mine. π
S. J. Pajonas recently posted…Sunday Update β November 20, 2016
I did make good progress with my current reads and managed to finish one of them by now and the other I probably will finish this week.
I actually wanted a simple kitchen aid to make hummus with as the hand blender didn’t work for that. But once I stood in the store and saw all the options they had, I knew I would be using it for other things too. I think you can even make smoothies and dough in this as well. There are lots of different parts, it’s a bit overwhelming as I never have had a kitchen aid before, so not fully sure where to use it for.
oh yay for getting a kitchen aid!! Those are so fun to use, I can’t wait to have one of those. And you can do so many different things with it.

Sounds like a pretty great week, Lola! Yay for the kitchen aide! I have one and love it π I hear ya on commenting. I’m spending today comment bombing a lot of yall because I just haven’t been able to make it around this past week. Hope you’re having a great start to this week!

I’ve never had a kitchen aid before, so not fully sure where to use it for. Where do you use yours for?
Nowadays I do most of the commenting in the weekend and then a bit during the week, so i don’t fall too far behind.
I use mine mainly for when I make cakes or frosting. I’ve used it to do mashed potatoes once when I couldn’t find my masher. lol I know you can use it for kneading bread if you have the right attachment and for making pasta or ice cream even again depending on attachments.
anna @ herding cats & burning soup recently posted…Escape the Family! Buy the Book– New Releases & Book Deals!
I have a attachment for kneading and normal knife like one and also two blades for chopping vegetables I think and two other blades for nuts and garlic I think the instruction book said. And even a flat plate like attachment for making whipped cream or beat egg whites. So many options. I don’t think mine can make pasta or ice cream though, but it can do smoothies.
I’ll have to give it a try once for dough or frosting!
Oh oh. We might be talking about two different things. Mine is a mixer from KitchenAid. Is yours more a processor? So chop/dice/slice/mince? Those are real handy too. I use one of those for when I make things like a graham cracker crust and need to finely crumble things. Or for slicing veggies. It’s good for grating cheese as well with the right blade π
