sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a busy week, but in the good sense. I had five cover reveals this week, one every weekday. So I spent a lot of time each day on that, I love cover reveals and it’s great to see the cover popping up everywhere on the cover reveal day. Next to that two new cover reveal sign-up posts went live. And I’ve been working on the sign-up post for a blog tour too, even though that won’t go live till next month.

On friday my mom picked me up and we went to visit my sister, who had recently moved to a new house. I hadn’t seen her house yet so it was fun to see her new house, it looked quite cozy and was a great house for her and her boyfriend. Then we walked to the city centre, which was only a short walk from her house and had a great lunch in a small and cozy bagel shop. My mom had a bagel with egg salad and my sister and I both went for the Cinnamon Sinner, a cinnamon and raising bagels with molten butter and cinnamon sugar. It was delicious! Then we bought three muffins there as well and walked back to my sisters house were we ate the muffins and drank some tea. It was a fun day and I enjoyed catching up with my mom and sister.

I heard from another blogger that replies to her comments on my blog went to her spam folder. If you comment on my blog I always try to reply, if you don’t receive an e-mail, please check your spam folder as it might land in there.

getting cozy with a mystery
I finished 4 books for this challenge so far! And reading my fifth book now: By Book or by Crook by Eva Gates.

Random Picture(s) of the Week

Apple-puff-pastry-rose
I made these last sunday. They are rose shaped puff pastry with apple and cinnamon and some lemon. They tasted really good, but where a pain to shape well as the apple pieces easily broke when rolling up the dough. So after three or four that sort of looked like roses I gave up and just put some apple on the rest of the puff pastry and folded it together.

Swirls-and-Curls-four-colours
I made time to do some colouring this week and this is the page I finished this week. It’s from the Swirls and Curls colouring book by jenna Lyn Field. I am enjoying this colouring book so far. I first started with the red center and the green leaves and then eventually decided to go with a different main colour for each type of leaf so red, green, blue and yellow. I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

    • The bagel was so good! My sister and I considered a few of the othe rbagels they had, but ended up going both for the cinnamon bagel. I am so glad I did as it was delicious, perfect! I also really like cinnamon.

I have to admit I was a bit surprised that page turned out so well with all the different colours and different shades, but it worked out great!

  1. Yay, busy week with business items. Always good.

Fun that you were able to spend time with your mom and sister. I enjoy bagel shop bagels, but it has been a while.

Your rose-shaped apple cinnamon roll looks delicious. I think I’d have trouble getting it to look like a rose, too, but at least it was delicious.

Nice work on the coloring. You have amazing patience and skill to do the detail work and do the color patterns. And that’s a great start for the Cozy mystery challenge.

The Indian Cauliflower dinner sounds delicious.

    Have a good week.

    • Yes it was a good week :). And it was nice to catch up with my mom and sister and visit her new house. I love bagels even though I don’t eat them that often.

It was so difficult to actually have them look like roses, but they tasted really good.

Colouring is very relaxing and I was happy with how this page turned out. I am hoping to finish one or maybe two more books for the cozy mystery challenge, not as many as I hoped to read, but still good.

The Indian Cauliflower dish is delicious, one of my favourite dishes. We often eat it with tortilla wraps.

    • This colouring books is by the same author as the Trees of Life one, I really like her coouring books so far. Thanks for helpig reveal the Trees of Life cover :). And indeed it would be fun to use different colours for the different seasons. I like trees as wel and hope I can get a copy of the Trees of Life book eventually, it looks like it will be a great colourign book!

  2. That pastry has totally made me hungry. I need to go get an apple. or something to assuage my craving, LOL!

It sounds like you had a really busy week, but it seems like a good busy. I hope it was, cause I think that’s the best kind to be!!

I’m looking forward to your lasagna recipe as I am in desperate need for one–mine always burns on the side and it gets dry. I’ve no idea what I do wrong! Have a great week!!

    • The pastry was realy good, I am baking brownies now to satisfy my cravings for something sweet.

The cover reveals are a lot fo work, but also a lot of fun. The good kind of busy is the best kind indeed.

Lasagna is tricky! It took me quite some tries before it finally turned out good.

    • Thanks for the comment bom! I am so sorry to hear about Margarite, I know how hard it is to lose one of your pets and family members. I can totally understand you taking a break from blogging for a bit, but I am also glad to hear your back :).

    • I really enjoy colouring, I really should make time for it more often. The Cinnamon Sinner bagel was perfect, I can’t wait to go back there and eat that bagel again.

    • It seems my mentions of food often have that effect on people. I love talking about food and sharing what I cooked and baked this week.
Thanks! I was really happy with how the colouring turned out. I should make more time to colour as I really enjoy it.

  3. Sounds like a good week. You’re doing good with the Cozy Mystery challenge too, I’m still working on my first one (it’s been a slow reading month) but I have a few days yet to make it. LOL. Love the look of that roll, yum.

    • I had hoped to read mroe mysteries, but read some romances in between as well. I think I’ll finish with 5 or 6 books max. I hope you’ll manage to finish your cozy mystery int his month! And even one read is already great!

  4. I love your coloring page you did. I have been trying to make an effort every day to do coloring even if its just ten minutes. I listen to many audiobooks….so its perfect. Love the mix of colors you used!! I am still learning a ton about the various methods of coloring…but I love the variety of colors you used. The hardest thing for me when coloring…is deciding what colors to use. Hope you have a great upcoming week

    • Thanks! I did this one in two evenings and then both I spent an hour or so colouring. I liek your diea of spending ten minutes each day colouring. I don’t make enough time for colouring and when I do I spent one or two days doign a lot of colourign and then weeks with no colouring at all.
Yes picking the colours to use is the hardest part of colouring. I am always afraid I ruin a picture and keep debating which colours to use and sometimes I just start and pick colours in a whim.
I was going for green and redish colours only at first and then thought that would get too boring and then took the risk to do four different colours for each type of leaf one. I wasn’t sure if it would look right, but I am happy with the end result.

    • I did 2 or 3 like roses and just put the other ones together how it worked easiest. They taste really good, but it was just a pain to make them look pretty. I am planning to try and bake cheesecake this week, wish me luck ;).

  5. I’ve seen those apple roses on Pinterest! I’m glad they were tasty despite the pain of rolling them up. I’ve heard they’re good so I definitely want to try them. And you know I love that colored page! The bold colors were perfect for that design. It sounds like you had a busy week and it was nice to end it with family. <3

    • Yes that’s where I found them as well, I thought they were great to try on valentine’s day. The rolling part is the hardest, but I decided to skip one step of the recipe, so maybe if you cook the apples first the rolling goes easier. And the taste was good even the ones that didn’t look as well.
I am glad the colour combinations worked so well, it’s always a bit of a risk when colouring and wondering if it will look well in the end.

    • That just sound weird cinnamon toothpaste. But I do like cinnamon in most things and the cinnamon sinner bagel was delicious.
