sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a really busy week, I got three more blog tours and four new cover reveal open for sign-up this week over at Lola’s Blog Tours. I’ve been pretty busy with setting up the new tours, e-mailing media kits for the two cover reveals next week and there was also a cover reveal that took place this week. I did get some marketing assistant work done as well, but it’s been slow going. While it’s been a busy week I am really hapy to be working on so many cover reveals, it’s fun organizing them and meeting new authors. I also like working on the August tours and I think it’s goign to be the month with the most tours so far if this keeps up, which makes me really happy. Every month is doing a little bit better than the last and it’s so rewarding to see progress like that.

The cat from my boyfriend’s parents. Quito, has been staying with us these past two weeks. He’s a lazy cat and mostly we just have to make sure he has enough food and he just lazes around on the couch or sits in the windowsil most of the day. He is a cutie though and it’s been nice having him around. He starts meowing for his wet cat food every morning as soon as we’re out of bed, gah that stuff smells even worse when it’s the first thing you smell in the morning, although we got used to it by now.

On wednesday we went to a zoo. We got some money from my boyfriend’s parents to do fun things this summer and we decided to visit the zoo. I like seeing the different animals, although it’s sad they are in cages we still like to visit once a year or once every two years. Last year we had bad luck and had lost of rain when we visited the zoo, so this time we planned ahead and picked a day when there would probably be no rain. We had a sunny day, but not too warm, so that was perfect. I’ll have a post about our visit scheduled for next week as I didn’t want to cram all my pictures in this post.

Beside that not much happened. I didn’t have as much time for blogging and commenting although I did keep up with replying and commenting back. I have moved some scheduled posts around to make room for my zoo visiting post. I also haven’t had much time for baking, although now I am really craving something sweet, so I am hopign to bake a small apple pie today. Oh and I pre-ordered an adult colouring book, after featuring a colouring book on the blog this week I decided to finally go ahead and buy one with some of the money I had left over from what my grandma gave me a few weeks ago. Now waiting till it arrives. I also pre-ordered another Kelley Armstrong book whcih won’t be released until January.

  1. Yes! The Stars Never Rise looks so good, Lola! I hope you’ll love it !

Quito the lazy cat, eh? He definitely is a cutie, but I think I’d have trouble with the wet cat food smell in the morning, too…

I’m happy for you that you’re having more tours to organize! It’s good that each month gives you a little more work than the last πŸ™‚

Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • I am hoping to read it later this month as it looks so good and I am so happy to have my copy already!

I think Quito is about 10 years old now and he just likes to laze around, although he usually has two burst of energy each day and then we can play with him for a bit and then after that he goes to sleep again. At my boyfriend parents his house he often goes outside during the day, but he can’t do that here as we only have a balcony. I have gotten used to the smell of wet cat food in the morning a bit nwo after two weeks, but ugh that stuff really stinks.

It’s so ncie to see things pikcing up with the tours. I think I have 5 tours scheduled for August now, it’s definitely going to be a busy month! It gives me hope I can actually make a living doing this.

    • I heard mixed things about it, but it’s Keley Armstrong, so I just had to order the second book as well. I still haven’t read the first oen though, so now hoping I will actually enjoy that one!

    • He’s a beautifull cat indeed! if we ever get a cat of our own we want one with long fur as well, it’s so pretty long fur although he does needs to be brushed often. Quito is used to getting wet cat food every morning, I think he needs it for his kidneys or something, not entirely sure. I only know that he get’s one bag every morning, so we should give that to him as well, lol.
That stuff really smells badly though, especially first thing in the morning. Quito is also very stipt with his wet cat food, the first morning he was confused as we get out of bed later than my boyfriend his parents but now he is used to our schedule and as soon as I walk to the kitchen he follows and start rubbing against mey legs as he wants his cat food. It’s adorable and a little annoying at times.

edit: and no he doesn’t pay attention to the rats, he is totally not interested in them and almost acts like they aren’t there. The rats are scared for the cat though, so we should take care not to pet Quito first and then the rats.
Lola recently posted…Sunday Post #130My Profile

    • Nope, weirdly enough Quito isn’t interested at all in the rats. My boyfriend his parents also have had tow rats and one of the rats was interested in quito and actually got close to the cat and quito didn’t mind. He also chased a mice in their garden once and wasn’t able to catch it. We are carefull though with the rats when the cat is around, but so far it goes really well as the cat just isn’t interested in them.

    • I completely agree, I love animals so it’s nice to be able to see so many different ones, but those cages make me sad. I know it’s necessary, but I also want them to be free. last year we went to a different zoo were the animals were really stressed and had too small cages, that was really bad. Here most of the animals are better cared for at least and they don’t look stressed.

  2. I need to get Emipre of Night since i want to see what happens, even though I wasn’t that big of a fan of the first one I felt like the next books was going to have a lot more action and a lot less lord of the rings walking.

The cat is a cutie and I am happy she is not scaring your rats. When we babysit my moms bird the cat couldn’t care less that it’s here and the bird doesn’t seem to mind we have a cat πŸ™‚

Glad you were able to have a productive Lola’s Blog Tours week! I am hoping to be a bit productive this week now that Ryan is home, however the last two days they both have been fighting for my attention but it should settle down soon.

Have a great week, Lola! Enjoy all your new reads!

    • I still haven’t read the first book, but as Kelley Armstrogn is oen of my favourtie authors I just had to order the second one too. It will be nice being able to read them both in a row if I want to.

Quito is quite lazy and not at all interested in the rats, which is nice. The rats do get scared when they smell a cat though, so we have to make sure we’re not smelling of the cat when we interact with the rats. Fun to hear your cat is okay with your mom’s bird, it’s nice how sometimes an unlikely combination of animal does work. My sister her cat was very interested in the rats, but Quito isn’t.

It was a productive week indeed, I am hoping this week will be as well. I am waiting on the materials for two mroe tours and a cover reveal, so I probably will get those live this week. I am hoping you’ll have a productive week as well!

    • It was a fun visit and this is a pretty good zoo with big cages, so that helps. Quito has been fun to have aroudn, he’ll go back to my boyfriend’s parents later this week.

    • Quito is a nice cat and it’s been fun having him in the house. I think he’s pretty with his long brown fur. The empty cartons for the apple juice are always a big succes with the rats, they have a whole collection of food in there now.
I love the cover for The Stars Never Rise and it’s by one of my favourite authors, so hopefully it’s good. I started What happens in London yesterday and it’s a cute read indeed, although it is different than I expected.

    • I agree Quito’s a beautifull cat and it’s been fun having him here these two weeks. I also like dogs, but I am also scared of them.

    • Thanks Kimba :). I am really looking forward to reading The Stars Never Rise. And we had a lot of fun at the zoo, I even decided to do a post about it next week so I can talk more about our zoo visit.

  3. Love the kitty, he’s just too cute! I understand what you mean about the Zoo. I hate seeing all those poor animals locked up like that but on the reverse side, if there were no Zoos a lot of those animals would be hunted and killed instead. So, as much as they may suck, they still serve a purpose, specially when it comes to getting people to see the animals and care about them. You got a good book haul, too:D!

    • I agree zoo’s do a lot good as well. And those animals would probably be hunted and killed instead of being able to room free if they weren’t in the zoo. And I still love visiting the zoo. And at least this one is a good zoo, we visited a different zoo last year were the animals looked all pretty stressed, which wasn’t fun to see. Here the animals look healthy and at least sort of happy as far as I can tell.

    • I hope so too! I am really looking forward to reading it!

The cat and rats get along pretty well. The cat stays away from the rats and isn’t interested in them, although the rats are a bit scared of the cat. I definitely will be happy when I don’t have to smell wet cat food first thing in the morning anymore.

    • I hope so too, The Stars Never Rise sounds really good. We had a lot of fun at the zoo and I’ll be posting more about it later this week.

    • The cat and rats get along pretty well. Quito pays no attention to the rats at all, although the rats are a bit scared of Quito. When we smell of Quito the rats freak out a bit, but the cat doesn’t really try and come close to them, so that’s good.

    • It was a busy week indeed and this one probably will be just as busy. I am hoping to read The Stars Never Rise soon as it sounds really good. I haven’t read the first book in that Kelley Armstrong series yet, so I hope I’ll enjoy the series.

  4. I hate seeing the animals locked up too, but I also love going! Liam has such a good time and it’s a great teaching tool for him. He’s pretty much my tour guide when we go now πŸ˜‰
Rachel Vincent’s book looks like it will be really good. I’ll have to watch for your review on it.
Hope you have a great week!
PS your oatmeal cookie recipe is the bomb! They are SO good! Thank you for sharing πŸ˜€

    • That sounds fun having your son be tour guide in the zoo! It’s just so much fun to visit the zoo as I love seeing the different kinds of animals, even though it’s sad that they are locked up.
I am really hoping I can read The Stars Never Rise at the end of this month. I am really exicted for it!

I am so glad you like the oatmeal cookies :D. I really like them, I want to make them again soon as I still have enough pecans to make them at least once more.

    • There are no photo’s of snakes, so you don’t have to avert your eyes. There aren’t that many snakes in this zoo and none where interesting enough to take a picture of. There is a close-up picture of a crocodile though. I hope you’ll enjoy my post about the zoo, it’s different than most of my Lola’s ramblings posts, so I hope people will enjoy it.
Lola recently posted…Review: Cold Burn of Magic by Jennifer EstepMy Profile

        • Okay then you can watch the zoo pictures without fear :). I am afraid for dogs as I feel they act so unpredictable and I don’t like them jumping against me (we never had pets when I was a kid and my mom is afraid of dogs too), although I do like seeing pictures of them. And orca’s freak me out, something about that whole black wale with that white spot near their eye is scary to me. Fears are so weird sometimes.

  5. Even though your week was busy, it sounds like it was productive and you took some time for fun. That’s wonderful! And I say yes to the apple pie! *ha* Have you made it yet?!? I’m glad your zoo trip was nice and that you had great weather for it. I look forward to seeing pictures. I’d like to be able to compare your zoo to our zoo. πŸ™‚ Also, nice book haul. I got The Stars Never Rise at RT and am eager to read it. I hope this week is going well, Lola!

    • Indeed it was a busy, but productive week and it was nice to go out for a day and have fun. I am baking the apple pie now. It’s a small apple pie, the dough for a big one, but in a smaller form with only two apples as I like the dough so much. Will have to do a recipe post about it once.
This thursday I’ll be posting my zoo pictures, we had a great day! And it would be interesting to hear if our zoo’s differ from yours.
I hope we both enjoy The Stars Never Rise, I am so exicted for it!
