sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was filled with worrying, stress and emotions. Thuesday we went to a vet with Snickers, our rat. We went to a different vet then we went so far, to see if the differences. It felt off from the moment we stepped inside there, so we got our consult (that vet didn’t tell us anything we didn’t know yet) and then told him we would think about the surgery. It just felt really shady there, the prices where cheap, but that was the only good thing. There didn’t seem to be any other customers and he kept saying that there was a risk our rat wouldn’t survive the surgery, ofcourse there is always a risk, but he kept focussing on this. I kept thinking that maybe he never did surgery on a rat before. We weren’t sure whether to have the surgery or not and what to do, so we thought and talked about that a lot. And then decided to first get some more information from another vet.

Then the next day I e-mailed our previous vet and send them pictures of Snickers. She confirmed it was indeed a tumor and that it probably would be easily removeable. I felt much better after hearing a much more professional opinion. We decided to have the surgery for Snickers and I made an appointment for the surgery next theusday. I just hope everything goes alright next week with the surgery. I can’t stand the thought of losing her.

So I worry about her a lot and haven’t been sleeping well. One day I was really tired and after going to bed early I felt a bit better again. And when I told my mom about Snickers having a tumor one of the first things she asked how expensive a new rat is. Okay so mom is not an animal person, not by any stretch of the imagination, but still that questions was just insensetive. I don’t want a new rat I want our Snickers! Okay so I didn’t answer her question and acted like I didn’t read it.

My sister was doing her birthday part this saturday, she asked me to make peanut butter cups. So I made three times the normal recipe, one portion for ourselves and two portions for her birthday party.

Here is a picture of the whole bowl for my sister’s birthday party:

To catch the Fallen, you have to become the very evil you were bred to slay.

Show loyalty. Be willing to go deep into the gritty underbelly of the world, where the vilest acts of human carnage thrive and seep into your mind like a black poison, consuming every part of you that was once good. Ignore your dark cravings and keep to the most important rule of all: never save the mortals.

This is the life of a Sentinel.

Some call us the toughest angels in the heavens. Unbreakable. But even the strong can break in the face of temptation.

Human females have always been the forbidden fruit for our kind—an enticement I’ve resisted for centuries, until she came along.

Karinna lusts for vengeance.

She wants inside the darkness, where the Fallen own the corrupted streets of Detroit—the perfect bait to take down the biggest crime ring the city has ever known.

I want her. To have her, though, I’ll have to break the rules.

For one taste of the forbidden, I’ll have to commit the most heinous sin of all …

Turbulence is in their forecast

Summer Raines knows when it’s going to rain. She can feel it. That’s why the local weather girl’s so good at her job. Too bad she couldn’t have foreseen the tumultuous arrival of Travis Lockwood, everybody’s favorite star NFL quarterback. Make that former star NFL quarterback. Sidelined back to Texas after an injury, the golden boy is trying to steal her precious on-air time. Summer is reduced to reporting from…football games. It’s enough to make her quit and become a storm-chaser like her parents. She’s stuck with a career that’s going nowhere and a man who delights in her refusal to be charmed. Falling in love isn’t nearly as easy as predicting the weather.

  1. I hope your Snickers will get through. I once had a little yellow parakeet who got those things, and the vet did operate on the tiny bird a few times, and it went fine every time, against all odds. Most birds can’t handle stress like that and die because of it. But my Tweety got well each time.

  2. Aw lots of little rattie prayers. I’m sorry your mom said that to you. My grams has said similar about our dogs and cats when they’ve gotten expensive and it really does hurt because really could she just replace on of her kids like that? Grrs. Glad you’re feeling better on the vet choice. Sounds like a good call. Gotta trust that gut instinct!

    • Thanks Anna! I hope everything will go right.
And my mom still hopes we get kids one day, but for us our pets are our babies. And she just doesn’t understand how important they are for us. I still get a bit angry when i think about her comment.
And yeah I am really glad we decided to go with the other vet, it’s more expensive, but at least I feel a lot of better about this one and actually am pretty hopefull now that Snickers will survive it!

  3. Ugh, those peanut butter cups look so good! I bet they tasted just as good. 🙂 Great haul this week – I hope you enjoy all of them! Happy reading and have a lovely Sunday. 🙂

  4. Fingers, Toes and Eyes crossed that snickers is ok and everything works out for you <3
It's so hard to watch a furry friend not feeling well. (((BIG hug))))

I can't wait for that recipe, those look delicious!!!

Great Haul this week! I realized I didn't send you the interview questions for the blog tour. I will do that today!
I just thought it as I was typing lol

Have a great sunday and try and get some rest!

    • Thanks for the hug! I really hope her surgery goes well.
Everything just seems to go wrong this week and I hope next week will be better, because I can’t stand another week like this.

I probably will post the recipe over two weeks on saturday. I just have to find time first to make them again and make pictures while making them.

I was going to send out reminder e-mails for the posts for that tour today, so I won’t send you one as you already got the reminder now 😉

I hope you have a great sunday!

    • Yeah I hope so too, I am so worried about her :(. We have to brign her to the vet theusday morning and if everything goes alright we can come and get her again in the afternoon.
Yeah that comment from my mom really stung, I know she doesn’t care about my rats, but I hoped she would at least understood that I do.

    • Thanks Greg, I’ll plan on doing a recipe post later this month when I make them again. I really hope the surgery goes well, I am so nervous already!

  5. Poor little Snickers, I’ll be thinking of you on Thursday. You know, when one of my cats died on the road, my mum said ‘I can understand you are upset but at the end, it’s only an animal’ – and that really did hurt. I thought that actually that cat meant more to me than some of my neighbours… don’t get me wrong, of course I don’t want anything bad happening to my neighbours, but they don’t make a big difference to my life.

    • Aww thanks Peggy :). It’s so weird that some people can’t understand how important animals can be. I care so much about my rats, the though of losing one of them hurts so much.

    • Thanks Anna! I am just so worried something will go wrong, I’ll be glad when it’s tomorrow evening and that’s behind us.

  6. First-yum! I love peanut butter cups so much.

Small animal vets are the absolute WORST. I have had the worst experiences with them with my three guinea pigs but we should talk after the surgery because I don’t want to make you worry anymore! Are they sure it’s a malignant tumor? I know small animals are notorious for tumors, two of my pigs have bumps around the chin and belly area but they are benign, which I hear is more common. I definitely understand your stress, all pets are family, no matter how small 🙂 Hope everything goes well!

    • I love peanut butter cups, but they hardly sell them here in the Netherlands, so that’s why I usually make them myself.

Most vets do know a lot about cats and dogs, but it’s so difficult to find a good vet for small animals. I think the vet mentioned it’s a benign tumor, but I thought it would be still important to remove those?
I just brought Snickers to the vet this morning, so let’s hope everything goes well! I am so nervous!

  7. You know, the vet probably acted this way because one of his previous customers reacted badly to the death of his pet ? Anyway, I hope Snickers will be all right since the tumor is easily removable, that’s good news ! When I saw the pictures of your peanut butter cakes, I thought you were going to give us the recipe, you awful temptress !!!! They look pretty good. Have a better week *hugs*

    • Yeah it’s possible he had a bad experience with a past customer, but his behavior was still a bit weird.
Snickers surgery went well, although she’s still a bit off.

You’ll get the recipe for the panut butter cups in a few weeks :). I just didn’t had time to take pictures this time.

    • They tasted really good as well ;).

And I am so happy her surgery went well! It’s indeed a huge relief. And now let’s hope her recovery goes good as well, she seems a bit off at the moment. Her movements are a bit sluggish, but that’s probably due to the narcosis and painkillers. And the other rats seemed really interested in her when she got back in the cage, so she’s sitting with me now, so she can get some rest.

  8. Snickers is back home again :). Her surgery went well. She got painkillers for 3 more days and we hope her recovery will go well. She seems a bit off now after the surgery, probably because of the painkillers and the narcosis.
