sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was a lot better health wise, but it was very busy. Last weekend I bought some medicine for the annoying cough I had, which worked like a charm. After a few days of taking that I was doing a lot better. So I am almost fully back to normal now. Being sick for almost 3 weeks is no fun, so I am glad to be doing better finally. As I haven’t been able to do as much work in the previous weeks I had some catching up to do as well as some new work that came in to keep me busy. I am happy for the extra tour work that came my way this week.

I put three new sign-up posts live this week, a blog tour, a book blitz and a review opportunity. And I am working on two more sign-up posts that go live next week hopefully. I also did some catching up on some smaller Lola’s Blog Tours tasks like sending out review copies and welcoming new tour hosts. I am still not fully caught up on everything, but most of the important things are done. I also did a good amount of assistant hours this week.

And on Tuesday I visited my mom, my sister was there too and we had a nice lunch with a homemade smoothie my mom made, as well as some pancakes and crackers. We talked a lot and caught up on recent happenings.

Winter Coyer 2019-2020

Coyer Winter 2019
I am joining the Coyer Winter reading challenge again. I like the theme for this one, although I rarely manage to fit in buddy reads due to my moodreading ways and arc obligations, I do like them. I am curious to see which books other people recommend, maybe I can get one of those read. If you want to sign-up as well, you can so here

And we have to recommend a book, so I pick First Flyght. This series is one of my favorite reads of this year and I can’t recommend it enough! It’s available on all vendors and direct through the author’s site and book 2 and 3 are available as well. And it’s only 99 cents at the moment so it also count for the standard COYER 🙂

What did I read this week?

Wolf's BaneMillennial MischiefThe Queen's Advantage

Wolf’s Bane was a great read, I liked reading about the twins and am looking forward to book 2. Millennial Mischief was a DNF, I couldn’t stand the writing style and DNF’d after the first few chapters. The Queen’s Advantage was a great sequel. I really liked seeing the romance develop, learning more about the characters and the political intrigue. The audiobook version of this one was great.

Food Corner

I love curries. And the great thing is how easily you can customize them with different ingredients and make them vegetarian if you like or add meat if you prefer. These four are some of my favorite curries and while the pictures might look similar these all taste very differently. And don’t forget to check out my naan recipe if you want something to serve next to your curry.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Graveyard Shift by Jenn Burke
Review: JOMO by Jessica Misener
Review: High Flyght by S.J. Pajonas

Review: Graveyard Shift by Jenn BurkeReview: JOMO by Jessica MisenerReview: High Flyght by S.J. Pajonas

Graveyard Shift and JOMO were both 4 star reads. If you like paranormal romantic suspense reads I can definitely recommend Jenn Burke’s series. JOMO is a fun non-fiction read about activities you can do at home, it has plenty of ideas. High Flyght got one of those rare 5 star ratings, I really enjoyed this third book in the series and I can’t recommend the series enough.

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Scavenger Princess by Carysa Locke
– Review: Double, Double, Toil and truffle by H.Y. Hanna
– Lola’s Kitchen: Rice Pudding Recipe

For next week I have a scifi romance review planned and a cozy mystery review. And to top it off a recipe for rice pudding 🙂

  1. Yay that you feel better, Lola. Three weeks is a long time to be sick. Glad you were able to get caught up and fit in a fun visit.
Bummer about the DNF, but good that the other books were great.
Woohoo! I’m signing up for COYER, too. Still need to think on what I want to recommend.
Curry sounds pretty good right now since the weather has gotten colder and snow is here.

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • I don’t think I’ve ever been sick for so long, I am happy I am feeling better now.

It was too bad about the DNF, but luckily the other ones were good.

Looking forward to see which book you recommend for COYER.

I also like curry now that the weather is colder, although I eat it in summer too.

    • I am glad I am finally feeling better. That’s too bad you don’t like curry. I do like some curries more than others, I am not a fan of the spicy ones.

    • It really was annoying to be sick for that long, usually I recover faster, but this sickness really stuck around for long. Sorry to hear about your health issues.

  2. So glad you’re feeling better this week- you weren’t feeling well for such a long haul! And sounds like you had a super productive week as a result, yay!

and yay for COYER again! I love this theme, though I know what you mean about buddy reading being a bit tricky. I love reading books and chatting about them with people though, so I’m hoping to get in a few.

I’m going to look more closely at your curry recipes, I really love curry!

    • I am really happy to be feeling better finally.

It sure sounds like a fun theme. I like buddy reading, but it’s hard to plan them sometimes. I do hope I can try and get at least one buddy read done during this COYER.

I am glad to hear you also like curry :). I love curries.

    • I love your books, so I am happy to recommend them whenever I can :). It’s such a great series. I hope some people might pick it up to read for COYER. Everyone has to recommend one book and you get extra points for the giveaway if you read a book someone else recommended.
