sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was another busy week, the start of the week was a bit of a struggle, but the rest of the week went a bit better. I’ve been doing a lot better the last few days and I hope things stay that way.

Work wise it was a productive week. I got a bit of work finished up that I was working on for one of my author’s and I am happy to have that done. I also got a good amount of assistant hours done overall. Worked on a new sign-up post for a review opp, that’s live now, and started work on a new book blitz sign-up post, which will be live next week. And there was a tour I organized that started this week.

On Monday we had to go to the vet with the cat that’s staying with us for a bit. It’s my boyfriend’s parents cat and he is staying with us for a bit, he’s a pretty nice cat. Monday morning he was behaving strangely and had drunk way more water than normal and then we found a piece of chocolate cookie on the floor. I think we dropped it and it landed underneath something so we didn’t spot it and the cat got it out underneath and we thought he might have eaten part of it. And as chocolate isn’t good for cats so we were afraid something was wrong especially coupled with the strange behavior. So off to the vet we went, luckily they had an open spot. It turned out everything was fine with him, so that was a relief, but it sure gave us a scare and messed up the day a bit.

I baked some Coconut cookies with chocolate chips last weekend and they turned out great. And I saw a new type of bread in the grocery store, it was beet bread, so I bought some to try out and it was pretty good actually. They have a few other new varieties I might want to try too.

I finished a jigsaw puzzle this week, finished 3 books and am almost done with another audiobook too. I had more time to listen this week and this audiobook was shorter so I am getting through it faster.

What did I read this week?

Dynami's WrathCounting on YouDeadhead and Buried

Dybami’s Wrath was really good, I like this series and it’s awesome to see how things develop in each book. Counting on You was a fun contemporary romance book and exactly the type of read I was in the mood for. Deadhead and Buried was an awesome start to this new series and I can’t wait for book 2. With a fun theme and a great mystery and quirky characters this one was a joy to read.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

Review: Last Ship Off Polaris-G by Carol Van Natta
Review: Chaos Station by Jenn Burke and Kelly Jensen
Review: Dynami’s Wrath by Kelly St Clare

Eclairs, Scares and Haunted House RepairsHeadpaceDeadhead and Buried

Eclairs, Scares and Haunted House Repairs I bought when it released as it’s the next book in a series I am enjoying. The Headspace Guide to meditation and Mindfulness sounded pretty interesting and I’ve been trying some meditation lately, so I picked this one up. Deadhead and Buried I got for review and already finished reading it.

What’s the strangest new product you tried recently?

  1. Oh Lola I had a similar fright with my dog as chocolate is deadly for dogs too! We called the vet and it was not a big quiantity so we just had to watch her for one day but I was really stressed!

    • I am sorry to hear you had that scare with your dog too. Glad to hear it turned out alright. It really is a scare when they eat something they can’t have.

  2. That would freak me out too. Sometimes cats can act so strange. I still get worried about outs especially when they start doing different stuff, I am so used to buttons behavior that these two are so different. Glad the cat was ok.

I hope this week is awesome for you Lola! Thanks again for yesterday! I really appreciated it! xx

  3. Thank you so much for all your help on the SFR Station website this month! I’m so glad I asked you to take on the work hours. It has made a big difference in my stress levels. πŸ™‚ Glad to hear the week went well except for the cat scare.

  4. I couldn’t imagine the stress of having to rush an animal I was pet-sitting for family to the vet. Glad it all turned out well.
Looks like you got a bunch done for work projects and for personal projects like reading, baking, and puzzle. The beet bread sounds interesting.
Neat that you discovered a new mystery series by HY Hanna and found some others you could enjoy. I still need to try her books.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • It sure was a scare and a bit stressful to rush the cat to the vet, but we’re happy he was okay.

The beet bread is quite good, I bought another one this week.

This new mystery series by HY Hanna is great so far :). I really like her books.

  5. Glad you had a productive work week and have been doing better! Sounds like you had a productive week overall with reading and stuff too. I’ve never had beet bread, that sounds interesting! I’m curious how that tastes now. Aww, glad the cat is ok, although that sucks it gave you a scare and messed up the day. I hope you have a good week πŸ™‚

    • It was a pretty productive week :). The beet bread was quite good and it does taste a bit like beet too. I am so glad the cat turned out okay, but it sure gave us a scare.

    • The cat probably ate a bit of the cookie and got a sugar rush, that’s the explanation the vet gave.

I think fresh spinach will work as well as frozen, although I never tried it so far. Let me know how it goes if you give it a try πŸ™‚
