sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was pretty busy. I am not sure why it still surprises me how Lola’s Blog Tours work can be really quiet for weeks and then suddenly get very busy again. I worked on the media kits for three different events and got sign-up posts for those live this week, two for blitzes and a new review opportunity. And more coming next week probably. I also did a bunch of hours of assistant work.

On non work related topic. My burn wound is healing nicely. It stayed itchy for a few more days and then the burned skin sort of peeled off and now there’s new skin underneath that’s still a bit red and sensitive. The burn cream we bought seems to work well.

I managed to finish 3 books this week. One of which was my first audiobook, I loved it! I am already halfway through book 2 and am really enjoying listening. I started a free trial at Storytel for listening to audiobooks and so far I am really happy with it, the app is easy to use and I like how it’s only one set price and you can listen to as many audiobooks as you want per month. Although sadly there are a bunch of books they don’t have, but still more than enough books that I want are on there so for now it will work great. I am just a bit peeved there’s this series I want to listen to and they have all the books except for book 1, I hope they might add it soon as else I have to find another site to get that one.

What did I read this week?

Airships, Crypts and Chocolate ChipsOverload Flux audioWitchslapped in Westerham

Airships, Crypts and Chocolate Chips was another great read in this series. Overload Flux was my first audiobook and I think I loved it even more than my first read in e-format. Witchslapped in westerham was fun, but it’s my least favorite book in the series so far due to some issues I had with it.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Cajun pasta
  • Veggies in satay sauce
  • Tortilla Wrap with sweet potatoes mash, spinach and veggie nuggest

This week I blogged about:

Review: Chasing Forever by Kelly Jensen
Review: Darak by Carla Bristol

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Witch Undercover in Westerham by Dionne Lister
– Review: The Horse Mistress Book 3 by R.A. Steffan

Book Haul:

Kaidan Snow brideThe Fire ProphecyThe Cottage on Rose Lane

Kaidan released this week and I bought a copy. The Fire Prophecy released early on Kobo, so I grabbed a copy as I’ve been anticipating this book. Sophia’s review of the Cottage on Rose Lane sounded so good it convinced me to give it a try, so I bought a copy.

How was your week?

  1. I had to laugh when you mentioned your work hours and tasks fluctuating so much. I said just last week that our work was sometimes feast or famine, too. Glad you’re getting the work.

I like that your audio subscription is working out nicely. Not having book one in a series with the rest seems really odd. Must be a publishing or copyright issue over it for them. I just listened to Jumper’s Hope and now I’m sad to have to wait for the next book release in the series. Well, I still have her story in Pets in Space.

I’m so glad you’re going to try the Hope Ramsay. I know the secrets were an issue at first, but I hope you end up liking it.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I am glad with the work. And it really shouldn’t surprise me anymore, but it still does how one week can be so quiet and then the next pretty busy.

I think it’s probably some sort of issue that they didn’t have book 1 available for subscription services or maybe something copyright related, who knows. Guess I just have to buy that one somewhere else and then continue the series on my subscription.

Luckily book 5 releases next month, so you don’t have to wait too long for that. Oh and her Pets in Space story is great too.

I hope I’ll enjoy the Hope Ramsay book, your review made me really curious about it.

  2. I am trying to keep the work light for now until after the holidays and then get back to working my butt off. I tend to have less time to design the two weeks before xmas but small stuff is ok. I do have a few things to do for my blog that i need to finish before Jan 1st and I will be cutting it close.

The cover of Witchslapped in westerham is so cute sorry it wasn’t as good but that cover is adorable! 🙂

Sometimes I think the worst part of a burn after the burn is the new red skin. Glad it is getting better.

Have a wonderful week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • That sounds nice to have some less work till the holidays. That makes sense you have less time for design work in those weeks. I hope you can finish those things for your blog.

The whole series has great cover, I really like them.

I never knew burns could take so long to recover, but it’s going well at least.

  3. Glad to hear the blog tours have been busy since that means they’re going well! Also glad to hear your burn is healing 🙂 Oh man, that is frustrating tht they don’t have book 1 of the audio -_- Well, maybe you can get that one somewhere else and then be able to enjoy the rest of the series? Have a great week!

    • It’s nice to have some tours lined up for January already :). And I am happy my burn is healing well.

I don’t know why they don’t have book 1 in that series, but I probably should be able to buy it somewhere else and then listen to the rest of the series through the subscription.

  4. That’s great you had some tours book for your tour company. Sorry about the hand, but at least it seams to be getting better. Erin Johnson has nice covers for that series you are reading. Every time I see the books I want to try them out… LOL just haven’t yet. Glad they books are still good. Have a great week and happy reading!

    • I am glad I got some new tours booked so I have some lined up for January now. I am glad my burn is healing well, although it sure seems to take a long time to heal.

I really like the Erin Johnson’s books and the covers are great too.

  5. Yay!! I am so so so happy you love audiobooks. That makes me smile! I checked out Storytel but I found out that they don’t have a site for the US! Which is pretty awesome and bold of them. I heard on Joanna Penn’s podcast that Storytel is trying to take over all the markets where Audible is not. I love that. Get in there, Storytel, and disrupt things! If an author is not exclusive to Amazon and Audible with their audiobooks, I hear they can get into Storytel with Findaway Voices.

Anyway, I’m also glad to hear that business is booming and your burn is healing. Both good things!

    • I am so happy I gave audiobooks a try. And I am glad I stumbled upon Storytel as at least they seemed aimed at dutch customers, which really makes a difference in terms of payment options and such.
That’s interesting you heard that they’re taking over markets were audible is not and it makes sense if they focus on those markets. I already noticed some Amazon exclusive audiobooks sadly. But I am also happy to see how many audiobook are on Storytel. I am just hoping they add that first book in that series I want to listen too soon.

I am glad the burn seems to be healing well and it’s nice to have a busy week for business after some slower ones.

  6. @ S. J. Pajonas – In fact Storytel is currently live in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, India, the UAE, Turkey, Italy, Mexico and Bulgaria.

Brazil and Singapore will launch in early 2019 and at least four other markets will be opened up next year.
