sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty good week, but a bit tiring because of less sleep some days. It was a pretty standard week in terms of work, I worked on my assistant work and had a new tour starting this week. I also had some new tours being booked that I e-mailed the authors about. And my 5 year anniversary giveaways and discount are still going on.

I had a few off nights of sleep early in the week that made me a bit tired and even took a nap one day. I got some reading done and finally finished the non-fiction book I was reading for a while. I played a game that I had for a while now, but couldn’t play on my old computer. So it’s fun to be able to play that one now. I also got a new puzzle game that I played for a bit, which is a great.

We stopped watching Dark Matter, even tough it definitely got better, it just failed to fully capture out attention. We’re watching Killjoys season 1 now, which is pretty good so far. The pacing and story is great and the characters are interesting. I also like how we get a good feel for the world already pretty early in the season.

My 5 year anniversary giveaway is still going on. If you want to, you can enter the giveaway here. Good luck!

What did I read this week?

Trial of ThreeLet's Get Digital

Trial of Three was a great read, the story progresses a bit slower in this one, but that’s mostly because there’s lots of focus on the characters and their relationships. Which was great. Let’s get Digital is a great book for anyone new to indie publishing and it gives a good overview of the publishing process.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Immortal Plunder by Kelly St Clare
Review: Relief Valve by JL Merrow

The Devil to Pay

Do you read non-fiction books and if yes which genre(s)?

  1. No, I rarely read non fiction any more. I used to read the occasional biography or true crime novel but not now. Sorry you are having trouble sleeping. I do know the feeling. Spiced cabbage points? What spices? I do love cabbage. Hope you have a better sleeping week!

    • I don’t read non-fiction a lot, but I do enjoy it once in a while. I slept a lot better this week luckily.

That recipe has pointed cabbage with bouillon cubes and garlic.

  2. I wish I could read non-fiction books!!! I just can’t make myself do it. If I would, I would read history books b/c I’m so fascinated by it. But because I’m home/online schooling my son, I end up reading so much through the day. And then I get drawn into the news (o.O) with my hubs so I HAVE to escape in fiction! I do like to read trade articles online, though. It seems more timely getting information that way, as long as you get it from reliable sources.

I LOVE the llama! I’ve been gone so long I missed the change! Hope you have a great week!

    • That makes sense that it’s hard to read non-fiction for fun if you already have to read so much non-fiction to home school your son. I also like to read non-fiction articles online sometimes.

Glad to hear you like the llama :). I switched my theme earlier this year and am really happy with it.

  3. Looks like a productive week with some fun activities even if you sleep was off. I had a hard time sleeping the night we had a storm go through, but the last few nights have been lovely sleeping weather.
Neat that you got the story from the Pets in Space 3 and that you were able to finish off a few books this week including a non-fiction. I always feel such a triumph when I finish a non-fiction book. I’ve read about a half-dozen this year and hope to up that for next year between historical research, the occasional biography or travel, and writing guides.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I finally had some good sleep again this week and am feeling a lot better.

It was fun to already get one of the stories form pets in Space 3. I plan to buy the rest of the set on release day as I am excited for the other stories.

This non-fiction book was quite the easy read actually, but I lost interest in the last part of the book as it wans’t as relevant/ interesting to me and then didn’t read it for a bit and finally made myself finish it this week so I could actually review it.
I think this is only the second non-fiction book I read this year, but I have 3 other non-fiction books I hope to get to seen. I didn’t realize you read so many non-fiction, you don’t review those on your blog right?

  4. I don’t read non fiction usually as I want to escape and dream in books. Aside some books by Stephen Hawkins I stick to fiction all the time. Now about taking naps …I would do it every day if it was allowed at work LOL Have a great Sunday!

    • It sure was a good read and for those new to indie publishing it gives a good overview of the most important steps of the publishing steps and the pro’s of going indie. It can be tough when starting out as a indie, but it can also be very rewarding I think.

  5. I haven’t seen the end of Dark Matter, I was watching but when they canceled it I lost all motivation to finish. Like it ended on a cliffhanger from what I understand, so that’s a problem! Killjoys I haven’t watched yet…

Yay for new games. I always hate it when I get a game I can’t play yet, due to computer specs or whatever!

Trial of Three looks like fun!

    • That’s too bad they cancelled it and it ended on a cliffhanger. It didn’t fully catch us, so we decided to switch shows for now. Killjoys is pretty good so far.

It was such a shame when I first started up the game and discover I could’t play it. The game still lags a tiny bit sometimes on my current computer and you can’t adjust the settings at all, which is weird. But I am glad I can play the game now.

Trial of Three was great 🙂

    • I am glad you and Charity recommend it as else I probably wouldn’t have thought to watch it. We just finished season 1. I think John is my favorite character so far, there are some great characters in the series. And the plotting is done really well with the foreshadowing. With how season 1 ended I think I can imagine why the second season gets a bit weird, I just hope it’s not too gory/creepy as that’s the only thing that bothers me sometimes. I can’t stand all the gore and medical stuff.

  6. Sorry that you are having trouble sleeping. But I can totally understand that. At least you got the game to pass your time 🙂
I have watched only the first episode of Dark Matter. Though I enjoyed it, I stopped watching it because I wasn’t feeling like watching something that dark at the moment 😛

Have a lovely week and happy reading!

    • This week was a lot better in terms of sleep luckily.

Dark Matter wasn’t as dark as I expected actually, it’s mostly a bit slow moving and it just didn’t fully catch my attention sadly.
