sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Itโ€™s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty normal week, which was great for a chance. A few things that had to be done, but mostly it was just a standard week. I finished up this month’s assistant work, I put a new sign-up post live and a tour I organized started this week.

I did some reading and finished two books this week, just in time for their release day and already posted both reviews on my blog on their release days. After that I started a non for review book as I didn’t feel in the right book for my next review book, hopefully after this read I feel like picking it up as I do have a few ARC’s I still need to read with upcoming release days. I bought a new book and requested the next book in a cozy mystery series I am following on Netgalley, so I hope I get approved. We did some gaming as well this week. So all in all it was a pretty good week.

And I perfected a new recipe I came up with, they are chunky cookies with pecan nuts and chocolate, I’ll post the recipe next week, but here’s a picture of the cookies already to give you a taste.

  1. Yay for a normal week and work done as well as time to relax with your games and a new cookie recipe. Sounds delicious.

Even better that your books were all above average reads (mostly) and a nice variety of genres and romance types. I couldn’t believe how many mysteries and cozies were part of my last month compared to romances. It was good. I like your idea of setting aside a review book when you weren’t in the mood and simply picking up the one you were interested in. I’m convinced that doing that is what keeps me from slumps.

Wishing you a lovely new week, Lola!

    • It was great to have a normal week for a change :). And I am glad I managed to perfect my cookie recipe.

It was a good reading month. I didn’t read any cozy last month, but I just finished one this week. To be honest I don’t do that often enough, set aside a book and pick up one I really want to read. But by the time I finished the non review book I was in the mood for the review book and I actually enjoyed it more than the non review one, go figure.

  2. Those cookies look really good.

I’ve requested a couple of books from NetGalley recently and I think the worst part is waiting to see if you’ll get approved. lol

    • I haven’t stopped by your blog in a while either. I haven’t made as much time for blog visiting recently. Power of Five is really good. I hope you’ll enjoy it if you give it a try :).

  3. Yay normal! That’s good you’re not stressing too much over ARCs and are letting yourself have a break to read a non-review book and do some gaming. I’ve been trying to do the same and balance my ARCs with other stuff. I also just read a non-review book.

I’m not sure if I’d like the pecans in the cookies, but other than that they look good! I’d probably like them with almonds though ๐Ÿ™‚

I love that you read all self-pub books in June!

June turned out to be a fantastic reading month for me. Some disappointments, but also one, maybe two 5 star books!

Good luck with your NG request, and have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

    • To be honest I don’t do that often enough and just go with my mood. And the strange thing is that after the non review book I was in the mood for the review book and even enjoyed the review book more.
It sure is hard to find the balance sometimes with ARC/ review books and non review books.

You can probably make them with any other nuts as well. I really like pecans, so i went with those, but I think almonds would work great too.

Yeah it was fun to see I only read self published books in June. That’s awesome you had one and maybe two 5 stars in June.

I still haven’t heard back from the NG request, I am hoping next week I’ll hear from them.

  4. Your June reads certainly all had pretty covers, Lola:). Your cookies look wonderful, though given I can’t cope with chocolate, I’m wondering if there is anything else I could use instead… Fingers crossed with your Netgalley request and I hope you have a great week.

    • I love lining up the covers like that each month, it looks so pretty seeing them all next to each other. You could skip the chocolate altogether probably or maybe add a different type of nut.
