sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty good week. I did a lot of work, read, gamed, baked a cheesecake and tried a new recipe. Two new sign-ups posts went live on Lola’s Blog Tours this week, a cover reveal and a non-fiction book blitz. And I started working on two sign-up posts for next week already. I finished the assistant work for last month and started a bit on this month’s work. I get so happy every time I see how well my company is doing so far this year :). I really hope this keeps up for the rest of the year too.

I did have a few meh days, not sure why. I also had a headache twice. But I also had good days. I got half an hour to an hour gaming done each day and I finished a 5 star read. My current read is also really good. We also have a few changes going on here and I think they will all be good ones, but it can take some time adjusting.

On Wednesday my sister came to visit. It was fun to talk with her. We talked a bit about book as usual and some other topics as well.

I’ve been in a sci-fi mood for the past few weeks and I feel like I am slowly switching moods, I think the next mood will be cozy mystery as I suddenly find myself thinking of reading a cozy as my next read. Oh and I baked a cheesecake this week as I was suddenly craving cheesecake, so I decide to just make some time to bake it.

Picture of the Week

Sorry no picture this week.

June Reading Stats

It’s time for my May reading Stats. June was a great month for reading. I finally came out of my sort of reading slump and I’ve been really enjoying my reading this month. I read a book by new to me author Kelly S Clare and then ended up reading three of her books this month, one of which got a 5 star. I also gave a 5 star to Crash Land on Kurai by SJ Pajonas, which was one of my most anticipated releases this year.

Books I read in June
Doughnuts and DeceptionFantasy of FrostPaper CranesFantasy of Flight
MissingHis Accidental HeirThe RetreatCrash Land on Kurai

Some stats

  • Amount of books read: 8 (1 less than in May)
  • Favorite book: Fantasy of Flight by Kelly St Clare and Crash Land on Kurai by SJ Pajonas

A few more stats. This month I read 6 self published books and 2 from publishers (1 from HarperCollins and 1 from Random House). I read 7 different genres this month, the only genre I read 2 books in was Fantasy. Besides that I read a Cozy Mystery, a Fairytale Retelling, a Thriller, a Contemporary Romance, a Dystopian and a Science Fiction book. All 8 books were full length. I read 2 books that got a 5 star rating, I read 5 books that got a 4 star and 1 book that got a 3 stars. 4 of the books I read were books I received for review, 3 were books that I bought and 1 was a book I got for free during a free days promo.

    • I am really happy how my company has been doing this year! Although at the same time I am a bit afraid things will turn around and suddenly take a turn for the worse. I just hope things keep going well.

It was a great month with two 5 star reads 🙂

    • Nice you had a four day weekend, I hope you had fun :). I know what you mean I always seem to be behind on visiting these days.

  1. I do love seeing your business doing so well. You put a lot of planning and effort in so this is neat. Fun that you saw your sister. I’m eager for the end of this week when I get to fly out and see my family.
Wow! Another 5 star. Love seeing those.

You got a sprinkling of several genres in with your reading and several unique settings, too. Looks like your plan to read some anticipated ones mixed with the commitment ones is really paying off nicely with the slump.

Have a great month of business and reading and real life for July!

    • It’s nice to see all the effort and planning I put into my business paying off :). I hope you have fun visiting your family!

It was great to have another 5 star read!

Yes my plan to mix the commitment books with ones I am eager for is worked well so far, I plan to keep it up this month.

  2. Glad things are going well- that’s awesome. I hope the rest of the year is great for you too! Crash Land on Kurai looks really interesting, will have to check it out. I’ve been in an SF mood lately after reading mostly thrillers for a while.

I need to fit some gaming time in, I always enjoyed it but nowadays I never make time for. I have a few games I’ve been wanting to try, and I also feel like Star Wars: The Old Republic is calling my name again. 🙂

    • I’ve been so happy with how business is going this year :). It’s very motivating.

Crash Land on Kurai is so good! I hope you give it a try!

It can be so hard to make time for gaming. I am trying to do half an hour or a bit more late on the evening each day. I am trying to fit it into my schedule each day so it become part of my routine.

  3. RO

Wow! Looks like you sure got a lot done, Lola! Much more than I did. (lol) Sorry you suffered with a headache though, and hope you’re feeling much better. You sound like me – I’ve been wanting to eat a lot more rice this week, which is a no no, but it sure tastes good. Hugs…RO

  4. You had a busy week but it’s nice you were able to spend time with your sister and for gaming. You did really good for June and I see some books I want to check out. Doughnuts and Deception sounds really good so I just bought the first book of the series. I need to read more cozy mysteries because right now I’m getting burned out with contemporary romances. I hope you have a great week and with no headaches!

  5. This is a very respectable line-up for June, especially given that you had something of a reading slump. I’m intrigued by Crash Land on Kurai – I’ll need to check that one out! I hope that headache lifts – in the meantime, have a great week, Lola:)

    • Ah I meant that I had a slump in May, I actually got out it in June, which is why I had such a good reading month.

Crash land in Kurai is so good! If you have time to review it within two months you could sign-up for the blitz if you’re interested :).

    • This has been a great year for my business so far and I just hope it continues this way. The headaches are a pain, I think I carried too heavy bags while grocery shopping which caused one of them.

It’s such a great feeling when you’re excited for a book and it’s even better than expected :). I hope Crash Land will do well and lots of people give it a try! It’s such an amazing read!
