sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was crazily busy. So many things happening and going on and I hardly had any time to read.

We found out one of our rats probably has a tumor. I am so worried about her :(. I know rats don’t live long and a lot of rats get tumors when they get older, but our rats are only one year old. We’re going to a vet with her this week, so let’s hope they can do something about it and tell us more.

And beside that some stuff about one of my former employer surfaced and I spend a day with a terrible headache.

Friday was my mom’s wedding. The wedding was lovely and a lot of people attended the wedding. My mom looked great and I am so happy for her and her new husband Clemens. I loved wearing my new dress and my boyfriend looked great in his suit. After the wedding people could congratulate my mom and Clemens and after that we had dinner with a smaller group of people, mostly family and good friends of my mom and Clemens. The dinner was a ten course dinner, it was really fancy and it was interesting to taste so many different things, but it did take a bit long. At the end of the evening I was so tired!

So all in all it was a busy week, but there where also some good moments. I didn’t got a lot of reading done though.

When Lola inherited her Grandmother’s house she thought she was made for life. But everything comes at a cost as Lola soon discovers.

With a house and business to call your own many people would think they had it made. Unfortunately for Lola this is where her problems begin. The house is needy and falling apart and eats cash like there’s no tomorrow. And the business is failing to live up to its promises in every sense of the word. Throw in an ex boyfriend who is back on the scene with dubious motives, a brother with pound signs in his eyes and a mother who would make the Iron Lady look like a pussy cat.

Lola despairs of ever finding her way with the odds against her until the appearance of a sexy stranger. Will Lola ever manage to straighten out her life and make a home for herself and keep the wolves from the door?

Erik never had to be anything other than a freak…until now.

Two hundred fifty-three days is a long time to fake being normal when night after night you perform miraculous feats on stage in a freak show. Thousands have paid to witness the miracle, suspecting nothing more than a hoax. But it is very real and it is slowly destroying him. Erik is weakened to the point where he’ll stop performing and start going to school for the first time ever—in his senior year. His only goal is to rebuild his strength so he can return to the stage and perform doing what he loves most in this world. What he didn’t plan for was the appearances of beautiful Addison and mysterious Naya. Now, unfamiliar feelings and bizarre new friendships threaten to unbalance Erik’s future as a miracle-performing freak.

A NOVELLA OF ABOUT 80 PAGES

Spencer Shrike is a plotter. Known for his ingenious, albeit illegal, plans that keeps the Team running efficiently and out of jail, he carries this same love of order into his personal life. He’s kept his long-time main squeeze on the sidelines for years as he builds the Shrike Bikes empire.

Veronica Vaughn is an explosion ready to happen. Ronnie lives in the here and now. She lives for today. She knows what she wants, and she wants it now. And right now Ron the Bomb Vaughn wants Spencer shrike to leave her the hell alone. She’s done playing his game. She’s done waiting around. She’s moving forward with her own plots, plans, and dreams and she’s moving forward tonight. Ron the Bomb is finally—finally—gonna get some satisfaction.

Too bad Spencer Shrike is standing in her way.

GunsGuns: The Spencer book (Rook and Ronin Spinoff)

You can find Guns on Goodreads

THIS IS NOT A STANDALONE BOOK. YOU MUST READ ALL THE OTHER BOOKS IN THIS SERIES FIRST.

ALL. OF. THEM.**

Spencer Shrike is a man with a plan. Get in. Get out. Move on. He loves Ron the Bomb, and her safety is the only thing on his mind these days. But life is a tricky bastard, and conning criminals for the better part of ten years brings its own set of problems. Sure, Rook lied her way out of a sticky situation, covering for crimes Ronin, Ford, and Spencer committed, and getting them all off scot-free in the process.

But not everyone is buying Rook’s story, and Spencer is desperate to figure out who’s in town setting them up for a fall.

Veronica the Bombshell Vaughn has put up with Spencer Shrike’s shit for years and where has it gotten her? A big fat nowhere. No ring, no house, no kids, and no promises. In fact, Spencer is worse than ever—completely distant and moody. She’s done sitting at home, pining over a man she can’t have.

But she’s not opposed to fighting for him.

Ron the Bomb fights hard and she fights dirty, so she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get Spencer’s attention.

But now there’s another man in town with his eye on her. He’s got secrets too, but unlike Spencer, Bobby Mansi is more than willing to let Veronica in on them.

The entire Rook and Ronin series comes full circle. Every con, every lie, and every skeleton in the closet is back for one final shot at vengeance and the only way to set it right… is to get out the guns.

**I’m fucking serious. ALL. THE. BOOKS. Every character, every plot point, every word was written for a reason. And that reason is THIS LAST BOOK.

    • I am about 43% into Guns at the moment and I have to admit I am not liking it as much as the previous books in the series. So let’s hope I enjoy the second half more. I already read Bomb.
I love the title Lola’s House as well, I just had to grab it, I don’t think I even read the blurb. And it was free…

The ten-course diner was better than I expected, all the things actually tastes good. And it was such a fun experience, although it certainly did take long.

  1. Congrats to your mom! 10 course dinner sounds delicious and it can be very exhausting such a long day. So glad you had fun!

I am so sorry to hear about your rat 🙁 it’s so hard when a pet is not feeling well, even the little furry ones <3 <3

You got a great haul this week and I love the title of Lola's House that's great!

    Have a great week!!!

    • Yeah it was a bit exhausting, the whole day was so full of excitement and there where so many people, but it was fun as well.

I’ve been giving Sickers some more attention this week, I worry so much about her :(. I am a bit anxious about the vet visit, having your fears or suspsicions confirmed sometimes is even worse. I still hope it’s not a tumor, although it certainly looks like one.

Yeah I mostly grabbed Lola’s House for the title. And it actually sounds like a good book as well!

    • I won After the Curtains Falls on a blog, it sounded interesting. I already read Bomb and am currently reading Guns. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I didn’t know you had a rat! that’s majorly awesome (i’ve always wanted one) but i am upset to hear that it might have a tumour. I hope your rat is okay, especially since it’s so young! I also wish your mother the best of luck in her new marriage!

    • I hope so too! I read somewhere that some tumors can be removed, so let’s hope that’s the case.
And I agree the cover for After The Curtain Falls is really pretty 🙂

    • I am glad to hear you enjoy my About Me feature :). I am planning to make it a sort of regular feature, I already have some great ideas for some future posts.

  3. Hope your rat is ok and keep us updated. I suppose it depends where the tumour is, not sure if it’s the same as with humans where it depends whether it’s metastasised.
Glad you enjoyed the wedding and Congratulations to your mum and Clemens, I haven’t been to a wedding for a while, no, thinking about it, actually it was last year my co-worker had a civil partnership. Have a great week and Happy Reading.
