sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This was a busy and hectic week both on the blog and beside it. It started Monday with both my sites, Lola’s Reviews and Lola’s Blog Tours, going down. And after trying to figure out the problem I realized someone was trying to hack my sites. It’s incredible frightening, in the wordfence plugin I saw every minute a new computer trying to log in on my site. Thankfully Parajunkee came to help and recommended a few security plugins, which I quickly installed. And a day or so later the attempts finally stopped. This whole ordeal made me realize how badly I had protected my sites at first and I am glad I have all those security plugins now installed.

Beside that I was busy with organizing a cover reveal and book blitz with Lola’s Blog Tours, so that took some time. I also had a day with a mayor headache, I hate those. And I spend some time changing the formatting on some odler posts (which are messed up due to switch to wordpress) and fixed some broken links. The links on the My Reviews page are now right up till the letter C. And even though it was a busy week I managed to get quite some reading done. So I guess it was a good, but busy week.

    • Yeah it was really scary and I just kept hoping they wouldn’t be able to hack into my site. The internet is a scary place sometimes. He Belongs With Me sounds really good, I have some other review books to read first, but I am looking forward to reading it!

    • I am already really busy with review books to read for blog tours, but I just couldn’t resist signing-up to review Everlasting for the tour. It sounds so good!

  1. The one thing about WordPress is the hackers. Blogger I never had that problem and So far I am loving my web server host. They have fixed a few of my problems so far and they are amazing. However I love WordPress much better then blogger πŸ™‚

I am reading Sing Sweet Nightingale now and Really enjoying it. If I didn’t pass out last night I would have finished it :)I hope you like it!

Hope you have a great week

    Happy Reading

    • Indeed I never had that problem with blogger, but then again there actually was no way to see if your site was being attacked in blogger. And I totally agree I love wordpress much better than blogger!

So glad to hear you are enjoying Sing Sweet Nightingale, it will be my next read probably as I have to read it in time for my blog tour stop.

    • Well the good thing about wordpress is that you can actually do something about protecting your site, but still nothing is 100% safe and sometimes it’s scray thinking about that.
If you decide to make the switch and have questions about anything, just ask. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but swithcing is really worth it in the end.

  2. I’m glad you were able to secure your site. I have security plugins installed, but I think most of us bloggers don’t know what exactly to do to secure our sites. It’s a good thing a few bloggers like Parajunkee and Ashley at Nose Graze are around to rescue us when there’s trouble! I managed to lock myself out of my own site due to password issues this week. Fortunately I was able to get back in by the time I returned from work that day.

    • Yeah I was really glad Parajunkee was around to help me and tell me which plugins to install. I was so freaked out when I found out they where trying to hack my site. Lucky there are some great security plugins to help with this.

    • Beside Wordfence I now have the following security plugins installed: Exploit Scanner (although this one finds a lot of false positives), limit login attempts, sucuri security free (I really like this one, easy to use and easy to see if something’s wrong or not), wordpress file monitor plus and WordPress simple firewall. Which plugins do you use for security?

  3. Holy crap Lola, that’s shitty. I’m with Blogger and you can see security reports of where someone has logged in from and IP addresses, but any site is vulnerable. I’ve found lately, a lot of old review sites on blogger are being revived by spammers flogging off various crap and advertising. Obviously they wait until a site is dormant and deleted and pounce on it.

    • Indeed every site is vulnerable. I just got an e-mail today from a well known site I had an account for that their site got hacked and they advised me to change my password. It’s frightening.
