sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a tiring week. Last weekend I got my second vaccine for covid-19 and unfortunately I suffered some side effects this time. I was quite feverish the first night after the shot and felt badly the next day. After that I was doing a bit better, but I was really tired for a few days. It was a struggle to get anything done. And once I started feeling better I got a headache. Even so I still had work to do and tried to do what I could. It wasn’t a smooth week.

My boyfriend had some job interviews this week and a few more lined up for next week. I hope one of these pans out. Fingers crossed he can find a good job soon.

I got a good amount of assistant work done and kept up with my ongoing tours and email work, but I didn’t get much done besides that. I also published a new blog post about how to get more reviews for your book. Luckily that one was mostly written already.

What did I read this week?

Salted Caramel SorceryRogue Ghosts & Other Miscreants

Salted Caramel Sorcery was a great read. I really enjoyed this one. The mystery wasn’t as good as some others, but I liked the plot lines and some progression on the overarching plot lines. Rogue Ghosts & Other Miscreants also was a great read. I really like reading about Kit, he’s such an interesting character. There are some new things he learns about himself and his powers in this one, which was great.

I also finished the non-fiction book Cover Your Book which was a great read. Very informative and I liked the author’s tone and the things she addressed. I definitely recommend it for new authors.

And I just finished An Unforgiving Desert by S.J. Pajonas, it’s not on Goodreads yet as it will be part of an upcoming anthology. The author had great timing sending this one to me as I was in the mood for a great science fiction romance book and I love this author’s books. It was a great one and I can’t wait for future books in this new series.

My current reads
My current reads are mostly good ones. I am still reading The Gangster and sadly I am struggling to finish this one. It’s has such a different vibe from book 1 and it’s just not meshing with me, but I do want to finish it. So now I am switching back and forth on my Kobo between that one and My Secrets to Keep. I am enjoying My Secrets to Keep so far, it’s an academy romance story about a princess and I think she’s going to fall in love with a commoner. I like how she’s down to earth and she has an interesting personality with how she likes to party, but also likes to study. On my ipad

I am still working through the audio for Broken Flyght and I am loving this one. I just read one of my favorite scenes with the sea monster in this one. I loved it the first time and it was even more awesome the second time around. I love seeing Vivian and Jinzo’s romance develop in this one.

This week I blogged about:

Review: The Ghost Camper’s Tall Tales by Elizabeth Pantley
Lola’s Kitchen: Cinnamon Swirl Cake with Pecans Recipe

    • I hope you’ll enjoy the new Annette Marie ones. I am really enjoying this series :).

Yes I’ve read almost all of Jessie Mihalik’s books. There’s still one I haven’t read, but I am still hoping I can get that in audio eventually as I listened to the first two. And I just saw the ARC for her next book on Edelweiss, so finger’s crossed I get approved for that one.

  1. That second shot packs a punch for so many of us and bummer to get the headache afterward. Wishing your boyfriend well on his job hunt. Glad your reading this week was mostly great and especially the new sci-fi romance by one of your favorite authors.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I am glad I am doing better now, but that second shot sure had a bunch of side effects for me. The new scifi romance story was so good 🙂
