sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty normal week mostly. It did feel like a tense week with the American elections playing out this week. We had some sunny days this week, which was nice after the few weeks with mostly overcast weather we had.

I did work and my usual things. I did have an annoying second visit to the grocery store as one item I needed wasn’t there so I had to return another time. I went back on a time I usually don’t go there and it was way to crowded even with the rising corona numbers and while trying to keep the appropriate space from a guy who was suddenly moving towards me almost bumped into another women who got annoyed at me. I grabbed the products I needed and got out of there as soon as I could. I am sticking to my usual time going forward as it usually isn’t as crowded then.

Besides that it was a good week for work. I made some great progress on a work task for one of my authors, it was a big project to record things for the assistant who is taking over for me when I stop working for that author and I am happy to have that done. I talked with two of my other authors about additional works, so that was nice news as well as I could use the extra work. And then a new tour got booked this week as well. I worked on the media kits for two upcoming tours and put the sign up posts for a royal romance book live already, the other will follow next week. I also had a tour running this week, so did the usual work for that.

I tried a variation on my cookies with pecan nuts and chocolate chips recipe and added peanuts instead. It was a nice twist and they turned out well. I also tried out a recipe for vegan pancakes, I was craving pancakes and didn’t have enough eggs, so i figured I would try a vegan recipe. They turned out great and satisfied my pancake craving.

What did I read this week?

The RunawayLord of New YorkTime Management for Writers

Not the best reading week with two meh reads, but I did finish a good non-fiction book. The Runaway was a good start to this new series, but the book wasn’t really for me or my mood. The start felt a bit slow and I didn’t feel the romance at first. The last 20% or so was very engaging and I am hoping the next book is better. Lord of New York wasn’t as good as the previous two books in the series. I didn’t like how different the main character was and the way she pushed everyone away felt forced. we didn’t see much of the couple and the main female character was only led by her new urges and it just didn’t make for a good read. Time Management for Writers was a good read. I liked how it addressed different topics related to writing, making the most of your writing time and more.

This week I blogged about:

  1. We try to go to the store as early as possible or just pick up when we order on line. I still don’t trust the people that don’t wear masks or have them on but under their nose. I also make sure to wash my hands after I get home and after I put everything away. I am slightly parnoid but I am ok with that.

I hope you have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! xx

    • I usually go to the grocery store on a time when it’s no as crowded, now I know to stick with that and don’t go on other days/ times. The whole pick up delivery system here doesn’t work as well and is a bit overwhelmed with the amount of people that use it at the moment, so i just try to limit my store visits to once a week. I also wash my hands after I get home and after I put everything away just like you. I rather am a little bit too careful than not careful enough.

  2. I alwasy try to do my gorcery shopping at “low”hours as it can be stressful with COVID! Now using peanuts is an interesting idea! Have a good week Lola.

  3. I’ve had to go shopping for one or two needed items during a time when lots of people are shopping and it does get stressful. I’m spoiled because my usual shopping times are when the seniors go shopping and they’re more polite and fewer people are in the store. 🙂
Glad you picked up some more work and are keeping busy. I love peanuts so I like your idea for the substitution.
Bummer about the meh reading this week. Hopefully, your next pile of reading works out better.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • My usual y shopping times are a lot better than this time when I went out for two items I missed. I’ll just stick to my usual times in the future.

The peanuts worked well in the cookies and I am happy with the extra work.

  4. I try to do grocery pickup as much as possible, though I also have to go in about 1x a week. It’s not bad, I go to target that they are really good about regulations and crowding. I hate that feeling of trying to dodge people these days.

Congrats on the successful work week – sounds like you got a lot accomplished. That’s always a nice feeling!

I hope you have a great week!

    • Here the grocery pickup/ delivery doesn’t work as efficiently yet sadly, especially with lots of additional people making use of it currently. I just try to limit my grocery store shopping to once a week and go on a less busy time slot. That feeling of trying to dodge everyone is difficult, especially when others aren’t as careful.

  5. I’m glad you had a pretty normal week with work going well. I don’t go to the store; I have delivery. Well I do Walmart pickup or Home Depot pickup but they bring it to the car. I don’t always get exactly what I want though. The weather here is going to turn cold and rainy mid week so I’m glad I have the yard projects mostly completed. I hope you have some better reads next week!

    • Here grocery delivery don’t work as well yet, too many people using it at the moment, so you can only get delivery slots for a week later at the earliest. And you often have to spend above a certain amount, which don’t work for smaller amounts. So for now just going to the store works better. Sounds like you have some services you can use for delivery that work well, although that sounds annoying how you don’t always get exactly what you want.

  6. Yes!! This nicer weather has definitely been a good thing. It also made me feel like Winter is here.. and slowly on I can start bringing some Christmas cheer into the house. Only slowly on.. otherwise my husband will go crazy I think. LOL!

The supermarkets are definitely crazy at times. It’s so frustrating, as a nurse, but also just as a human being to witniss so many people who just don’t seem to care. Wearing no masks, keeping no distance. I just don’t get it!!

I’m glad to read you got some more work done.

    Stay safe and happy reading.

    • It really was nice to have some sunshine this week.

I can imagine that as a nurse you see even more of this virus. I just wish everyone would be a bit more careful. I am happy to see more people wearing masks, but still not nearly everyone.

  7. Iza

When I go out for grocery shopping, I’m usually very surprised at the number of people in the streets, on the roads or in the shops : is there really a lockdown going on ?! That’s funny, I’ve been thinking of making pancakes too, I need to go… grocery shopping ! Have a great week, Lola 🙂

    • I guess everyone still has to go out for groceries, but it does surprise me sometimes how many people are still out and about. I hope you got to make some pancakes!

    • Sorry to hear cases are still rising there as well :(. It really can be a struggle doing grocery shopping in these times. I just finished my re-read of Crash Land and I loved it. It was fun spotting some of the foreshadowing as well this time. I had a busy week, so it was nice to have a good read to enjoy during my breaks :).

  8. Hi there Lola! I need to have a look at your cookie recipe. I need a new recipe and I love baking! If only I can have more time to do it…

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for telling me that you are also reading Falling into Magic. I haven’t started yet, time is a serious factor with schools closing in 3 weeks here in SA. Please keep me up to speed with your reading and if you are done and reviewed it, please share your link with me? I will gladly add your link to my review as well.

    Have a wonderful week!
