The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This week it was fully back to work again. The last two weeks were a bit more quiet as I had worked ahead, but this week it was back to normal again. I did hours of assistant work and three tours I organized started this week, so I did some work for those. I still tried to make time in the evenings to relax a bit, which worked mostly. It was a productive week, but also a bit tiring at times and I had a headache that landed later in the week. I also had a few nights of not so good sleep, so I hope after a few good nights of sleep I feel back to normal again.
I baked Banana Bread this week (picture below). I’ll be sharing the recipe on my blog eventually. I was really craving some banana bread, so I was glad I could make some. And I tried a new recipe this week for vegetarian wellington (picture also below). I made it in a square shaped oven proof dish, so it doesn’t really look like a wellington, but it tasted great and I am glad my first new recipe of 2020 was a success. I also am doing well with scheduling recipe posts as soon as I take pictures, I now have recipes posts for the next 12 months scheduled, lol. I might do some months with two recipes posts, but for now I am sticking with 1 recipe post per month and enjoy being ahead with at least one type of post for a change. I also finished reading two books and played a bit of of the House Flipper game, which I am still enjoying and it’s relaxing and fun.
What did I read this week?
I finished two solid 4 star reads this week. Catalyst was a great science fiction romance read with a talking cat, a trash planet and great plot. The Last Mystic was such an intense read, it took me some time to get back in the series as I read the previous book a long time ago, but once I did I was hooked.
Food Corner
For this weeks food corner I just picked 4 random dinner dishes that I like. All are vegetarian and contain plenty of veggies. And they aren’t too complicated either. Sajoer beans is one of my favorite dishes to eat green beans, it’s a delicious sauce. The veggies in chili sauce is a pretty basic chili type of sauce with veggies, you can also add chicken or any other meta or vegetarian meat, there are so many directions to go with this. Noodle Soup is one of those dishes I make regularly as it’s just so good and it’s almost as simple as throwing everything in a pot and boiling it. The Creamy spinach pasta sauce is one of my favorite pasta dishes and a great way to eat spinach and pasta.

Book Haul:
I bought three scifi books this week. Chen is the next book in a series I am enjoying, so I bought a copy when it released. I started reading book 6 in the Fallen Empire series and decided to buy the last two books in that series Perilous Hunt and End Game, so I have all the books at least as I plan to finish this series this year.
Glad you got back into your work routine without too much trouble after the holiday break. Neat that you had your first recipe of the year go well and that you got all your recipe posts set for the year.
The noodles soup sounds good as a winter recipe to try.
Nice sci-fi books in your haul and that will be great to see you finishing up Lindsay Burocker’s series this year. I’m hoping to start that one, but I have a few others I want to catch up first.
Have a great week, Lola!

It was a bit of a change to get back into my full work routine, but it went well enough. And I am glad my first recipe of the year went well.
It’s such a nice feeling to be ahead with the recipe posts, I remember a time when I didn’t get around to doing them and I missed them. And since I got back to writing them I planned to keep up with them, so it’s great to be ahead with them now.
The noodle soup sure is a great winter recipe. I am now reading book 6 in that Lindsay Buroker series and hope to read the rest of the series later this year. I hope you’ll enjoy the series when you get around to it, if you haven’t grabbed it yet the box set with the first 3 Fallen Empire books is free at the moment.
I hope you have a great week too!
It is always a bit of an adjustment to get back to routines after time off. I really need to get excited about cooking again. I am the only one in my house that doesn’t have to eat gluten-free. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and have for years but I think I am just kind of sick of it at the moment. Maybe I need to mix up a few recipes. I love that you feature some of the things you make on your blog. Great idea!

Yes it sure took a bit of adjustment again to get back the normal routine.
Maybe you just need a break of cooking. I usually just make some simple recipes that I know by heart when that feeling strikes. Or maybe try something completely different indeed.
Thanks! I like sharing what I make and do some recipe posts as well 🙂
Sorry to hear about the headache! Yes – this week was all about getting back into my usual daily routine, too. I love the look of The Last Mystic, Lola – I’ll keep an eye out for your review. Have a great week:)
I guess everyone had that adjustment this week of getting back to the usual daily routine.
My review of The Last Mystic is already live on my blog :). I posted it last week. I think you might enjoy that series, book 1 (The Legacy Human) might still be free at the moment.
I really need to get more adventurous in my cooking!
Wishing you a great reading week, enjoy those new sci-fi books

I really like trying out new recipes most week, but I also have weeks were I only want to make dishes I already know.
Mmmm banana bread! I made some at New Year and it was awesome… Hadn’t had it in ages and I topped it with a cream cheese frosting that made it irresistible to all inhabitants of my house! It didn’t make it to the next day! 🙂
I hope you have a good week! House Flipper is so much fun.

I really like banana bread. I haven’t tried it with cream cheese frosting, but that sounds good too. Our banana bread didn’t last long either.
I didn’t realize you gamed as well. I really like the House Flipper game, it’s so fun.
Do you take a preventative medicine for migraine’s? I used to take Imitrex back when I was getting them. I love banana bread. I’ve never made Wellington but it always sounds good.

No my headaches are tension headaches according to the doctor, all I can do is not tense basically and painkillers when I do get a headache. magnesium also seems to work with helping my muscles relax so that’s what I use mostly. I get aura migraines a few times a year, I can get medicines for those if they get worse, but so far they haven’t.
Banana bread is so good. I am happy with how this veggie wellington turned out, it was good.
I love banana bread! Yumm! Also the food you have pictures of looks very yummy. 🙂 Hope you have a great week!
Happy reading,
Stormi

Thanks! I like taking pictures and talking about the food I make 🙂
Hmmm, I’m not sure if I have any series I’m interested in finishing this year. I don’t have many that I’ve started that need finishing! We shall see once I start reading more. Glad to hear you had a good back-to-work week!

That’s also a nice situation if you already finished most of the series you started that you want to finish.
I love banana bread! My mom baked some for Christmas, but it’s gone now. I hope you have a great week!
