sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was another busy week. I worked ahead a bit, so I can take some time off during the next two weeks, so that meant this week was extra busy. I am a bit tired and hope I can relax more next week. I mostly did a lot of hours of assistant work as well as some of the usual Lola’s Blog Tours work. I am working a new tour that should be live early next year.

Not much to tell besides the fact I got a lot of work done. I tried to relax a bit before going to bed. I’ve been playing a game called House Flipper and it’s a lot of fun and relaxing too. I also made some progress on my current reads and audiobook.

I always like seeing my Goodreads Year in Books. I really got through a lot of books this year and hope to get a few more done.

Audiobook Challenge 2019 recap

2019 was my first year of joining this challenge and my first full year of listenign to audiobooks. I listened to my first 2 audiobooks last year and got hooked on them and decided to keep listening. I went for the level Stenographer (can listen while multitasking) 10-15 and hoped for 12 books, but I actually listened to 15 audiobooks this year. I also DNF’d at least 2 audiobooks (I think 2 more actually, but didn’t record those as DNF’d them early on). Only the finished ones I counted for the challenge.

I started out by only listening to one narrator, Nicole Poole, but then slowly broadened my listening horizons and now have a bunch of narrators I like listening to and regularly check out new ones. A bunch of books were re-read and I love experiencing a story in a different way by re-reading it, but I also listened to a bunch of new books. As the year progressed I found what worked for me re listening times and when to listen and found some new times and moments to listen. I got more used to audiobooks in general and am a bit less picky when it comes to narrators, but new ones can still take me some time to get used to.

Jumper’s Hope is my favorite audiobook from this year, but I enjoyed all of them. I really am enjoying listening to audiobooks and it made this one of my best reading years yet as listening added more moment to my life to read books. Not bad for my first full year of listening to audiobooks. And I definitely plan to keep listening to audiobooks.

What did I read this week?

Shifter's Storm

Shifter’s Storm was another great read in this series. I really enjoyed it, the romance was good and it was a fun read. I definitely recommend this series to paranormal romance lovers.

Food Corner

I again choose to pick one recipe for today’s food corner. For this week I picked Onion Pie, this is one of my favorite dishes. It’s so good, the different ingredients and flavors combine so well together. It does take some time to make, but I like taking the time now and then to make it as it’s so good it’s totally worth it. I made some onion pie yesterday and I just wanted to share this recipe with you. I hope you give it a try!

Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus: Identity I got for review and is the next book in this enjoyable urban fantasy series, I already started reading this one. I watched a Ted Talk recently by the author from We Need to Talk and decided to grab a copy of the book. I loved the first two books by Becca Syme in this series, so I bought Dear Writer, You’re Doing it Wrong on release day.

  1. I hope you have a lovely break over the holiday, Lola – it sounds as if you’ve earnt it! You’ve done really well with your audiobook challenge – I’ve also started listening to audiobooks this year and have loved it. As for my favourite – that’s difficult. I think it would have to be Connie Willis’s awesome book ‘To Say Nothing of the Dog’ which was an absolute joy – but very, very closely followed by Stephen Fry’s ‘Mythos’…

    • Thanks! It’s been a nice week so far having some extra time off :). I am really happy to see how well I’ve done with my audiobook challenge. Sounds like you had some great listens as well this year 🙂

    • It’s handy to be able to listen to a book during house tasks and such when you wouldn’t be able to read a book. It’s nice to be able to relax now after all the work.

    • Thanks! I am glad I got to join the Audiobook Challenge this year and am looking forward to participating again next year and hopefully listening to even more books 🙂
