What happened this week?
This week was again pretty busy. A new blog tour I organized started. The tour has a tour wide giveaway with multiple prizes in case you’re interested in entering :). I did quite a few hours of assistant work, wrapping up this month’s work. It was a bit of a tiring week, but also quite productive.
We had our first warm weather of the year early this week and it’s always hard to concentrate when those first few very warm days hit. I felt warm and it was hard to concentrate, then later in the week we got some cooler weather which was a nice chance and gave us some relief from the heat. But this weekend is very warm again, ugh. I don’t like it when it’s too warm.
I bought a smoothie mix in the grocery store last week which I tried out last Sunday when the warm weather hit. It has frozen fruit and you only need to add yogurt/ milk or fruit juice and blend it together. It’s easy to make and tastes great. The most effort is cleaning the blender again. It’s perfect for the warm weather we’re having, so I bought another package this week.
I actually managed to finish quite some books this week, but that’s mostly because one I almost finished already, two were novella’s and the other my Kobo read that I’ve been reading for a while. I hope to finish my current audio book soon too.
Besides that not much to mention. I went for some walks again, which was less fun in the warm weather, but it is nice to get outside for a little while. I also did some gaming, I played a game called AER where you are a sort of pilgrim in a world that’s scattered island in the sky and you can turn into a bird and fly from island to island. The walking somehow feels awkward, but the flying part is awesome. And I’ve been playing some Stardew Valley again, I love that game. You’re someone who changes their life when they inherit their grandfather’s farm and move away from the city to a small town. You can farm, mine, fight and make friends with the townsfolk. And I baked Kruidnootjes last weekend, they were yummy.
What did I read this week?
Spellbound was really good, two great main characters and an awesome romance. The blend of romance, fantasy and historical elements was well done and made for an addictive read. The plot is interesting too. Pirate Festival was really good too, I love this series and this story about a side character that I really like was great. I just wish it was longer as I wanted to read more, but luckily there will be another story about this character. Death by Dumpling had a fun theme and setting at a noodle shop, a well done mystery, but it failed to fully pull me in and the characters weren’t as interesting as I had hoped. Quill Me Now was a fun short read with a quickly developing romance, but the world building wasn’t well established and left me quite confused at times.
What did I cook for dinner this week?

I reviewed three cozies this week. Strangled Ham and Eggs was a great read and got a 4 star rating. Down In flames is part of a series I enjoy and I enjoy the theme and character, but I had some issues with this book. and Belinda Blake and the Snake in the Grass wasn’t quite for me as I didn’t really care about the characters and some other things, but the exotic pets theme was quite interesting.

I review the first two books in Anyta Sunday’s Love and Family series next week. Both are MM contemporary romance books and I enjoyed both of them, Made for You was my favorite from these two.

Book Haul:
The Concordia Deception sounded very intriguing and was only 99 cents so I bought a copy. Wipe Out I got for review and is part of a series that I am enjoying so far.
We also had hot weather this week Lola! And yay for going for walks. I love walking as I think it’s ideal to forget the stress of every day life. Have another great week 😉

I agree walking is a great way to de-stress. This week was slightly cooler, which was nice.
We must be on the same page when the weather gets hot. I make smoothies now and then, but I also by frozen fruit bars on a stick to help cool off.
Nicely done getting through that stack of books and enjoying them mostly. My finished books can come all at once like that, too, because I always have one going on audio, one or two on my Kindle and sometimes a print copy. My audios take longer because I only listen during walks or chores and the print book is usually just now and then, too.
Looks like you picked up a couple good ones.

Frozen goods and smoothies are great to cool down a bit when the weather’s hot. What are your favorite type of smoothies to make?
This week I only finished one book, it really varies from week to week. Same here re the audios, I take a few weeks to get through those as I don’t listen that much.
This week was slightly cooler, so that was nice.
Glad it was a busy week for you – I would love to read the Carysa Locke as I love the Pirate series – however, it is too short. I mostly find novellas frustrating reads:). I also love the sound of Spellbound, too. I hope the coming week is a good one, Lola.
There will be another book to finish up this story, so it actually is more like one book split in two. I do think Carysa Locke writes short stories really well as I really enjoyed the ones she wrote so far and I would definitely recommend them if you enjoy the main books. Spellbound was great!
Hot weather seems to be hitting everywhere this past week!

Luckily this week had some slightly cooler temperatures.
The smoothie mix sounds good. I like ice cream when we have hot weather. Do you have an Air Conditioner in your place? I always wonder how other places deal with the heat.

Ice cream is great too when the weather is hot. We don’t have an air conditioner at my place, so opening the windows and a fan is the only way to deal with the heat.

I was really glad I found that mix and decided to give it a try as it’s great. The flying part of the game is so fun. I hope you get the chance to Spellbound, it was such a great read! I think you would enjoy it.
Smoothies are a great way to beat the heat, maybe you can freeze the mix too and make pops out of it 🙂

It’s really handy to have a pre-made mix. i just open the bag, add some yogurt and milk and then blend.
Everyone is experiencing warmer temps. Do you have air conditioning Lola? I know a lot of Europeans do not. Spellbound looks cool. Hope this week is a good one!

No we don’t have air conditioning here, you’re correct that a lot of Europeans don’t have air conditioning in their houses. So opening the windows and putting on a fan is the only thing we can do when it gets hot here. And drinking smoothies helps too. Spellbound was really good, I am glad I got the chance to read it 🙂
What you made this week makes me SUPER hungry. I’m like, WHERE’S THE FOOD AT? Also, oh my gosh, the cover for Spellbound is soo beautiful. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
