sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was another busy week. I did a bunch of hours of assistant work, there was a lot that needed to be done this week, so I fit in as many hours as I could this week. On Lola’s Blog Tours I put a new sign-up post live for a non-fiction motivation book aimed at young adults. And a tour I organized started this week.

I had a few meh days this week, I hope I don’t fall back into my funk as some days were challenging this week. But overall it was still a decent week, just busy and a few stressful days. I made time every night to do at least a bit of gaming and reading before going to bed. I also managed to go out for a some walks again. The weather has been all over the place lately, from sunny and warm days, to rain, to windy weather.

And I managed to get all of my June ARC’s read and reviewed by now already, it’s great to be ahead with my ARC’s. There’s still one ARC I know I am receiving soon and a new one I just got this week, but besides that I’ve caught up for upcoming ARC’s for now, which is nice as I had quite a few June ARCs. And I am not even sure when future ones arriving, although with the amount of ARC teams I am on and daily visits to Netgalley it won’t be long before I add more. I am hoping to fit in a few non ARC reads on my ipad as well before new ARC’s arrive and maybe get through a few older ARC’s.

What did I read this week?

Honor's FlightDown in FlamesLove, Lies and Hocus Pocus Allies audiobook

I did manage to finish three books this week. Honor’s Flight was a great sequel and I am really enjoying this fast paced action filled series so far. Down in Flames was an enjoyable sixth book in this series and I liked catching up with familiar characters, but I struggled a bit with the slow start and some other things. I really enjoyed my re-read of Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus Allies as I listened to it in audio this time, I love the audio versions of this series so far. The narrator does an awesome job with the narration. I also was surprised how much I had forgotten of the second half of the book.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Give up the Ghost by Jenn Burke
Review: ‘Twas the Knife Before Christmas by Jacqueline Frost
I reviewed an awesome paranormal romantic suspense LBGT read Give up the Ghost this week. I really am enjoying this series so far and the awesome group of character. And I shared my review of a Christmas themed cozie ‘Twas the Knife Before Christmas, which was a great sequel and a fun read if you’re looking for a Christmas themed series.

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Honor’s Flight by Lindsay Buroker
– Lola’s Kitchen: Vanilla Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
For next week I have my review for Honor’s Flight scheduled. I had so many ARC’s for this month, that I somehow still had an open spot for next week, so I could fit in my review for Honor’s Flight that I finished this week. This continues to be a great action packed sci-fi series. And I have a recipe scheduled for chocolate cookies with vanilla, that taste great!

Fateseal AudiobookOkheania>

I really liked the sample of the Fateseal audiobook, so I spent one of the audio credits I won a while ago on this one. Okheania I spotted on Netgalley and it sounded and looked good, so I got a copy.

Do you re-read books?

  1. Hopefully you’ll stay upbeat and not get down again. Looks like you are keeping busy with work and other good activities to beat the blahs. 🙂
I’m glad the re-reads are showing how much you still love the series and pointing out stuff you forgot. I think that I’ll be re-reading more often now that I have audios to add something new to earlier print reads.

    Have a great week, Lola!

    • I hope so too, it’s hard to stay out of the funk at times. Hopefully staying busy and relaxing will help.

I never thought I would come to enjoy re-read this much, but audios really are a great way to re-read and it feels like a different experience that way.

  2. Glad to her that you’re having better days. I’m not a Summer person so I tend to get down this time of year but I received a few ARC’s for later this month and they have been so good that it kept me in a better mood.

    • I don’t like the too warm weather in summer, especially when it gets really warm I don’t have much energy. Luckily so far it hasn’t been too warm as often yet. Glad to hear you got some new ARCs that were really good and helped with your mood.

  3. Sorry your week was a little Meh! I get like that sometimes. I hope this week is a better one.
I haven’t gotten back into a slump again and I have been reading super short books to keep things rolling. It seems to work for me. I always tend to need a splash of erotica in my week to get me out of a slump which is really weird but if it works I can’t complain lol .

Good Job being ahead of ARCs. I have a few I need to get done but I do have a little time still but these weeks go so fast I might need to figure out it.

I hope this week is an awesome one for you Lola! Happy Reading! xx

    • It’s hard to avoid falling back in the slump, but I am still doing okay-ish with some meg moments mixed in mostly. Reading short books really can help sometimes, I’ve had reading mood like that too. That’s nice how some erotica often gets you out of a slump.

It’s nice to do so well with my ARC reads for a while, specially as I had quite some June ARCs.

    • Thanks! I had quite a few June ARC’s so I am glad I got most of them done so far. Good luck with your ARCs and getting those reviews written.

  4. Walking is so good for keeping my mood up. At my new place its a lot easier and we have a route to walk now. ❤️ I’m green with envy you are all ahead with your June arcs! 😉 That is the best feeling. I hope you find some non-arcs that tickle your fancy too.

    • I also have a few standard routes for walking, that I can shorten or make longer depending on how long I want to walk. Walks are great for keeping your mood up. That’s great you have a route to walk at your new place.

It’s really great to be ahead with all my June ARCs as I had quite a few of them :). I have a lot of non-ARCs I want to read, so hopefully I can get to some of those now.

    • It’s getting warmer here, but for now it’s still nice weather for walking. Too bad you’re having so much rain, but luckily not all day.

  5. I’m behind on my blog reading again this week! June is trying to kill me with all the school year-end happenings. 🙂 The weather here has been erratic too. We had a beautiful few days and now it’s raining and cold. Boo. I do re-read some books, but not very often. I usually only re-read when I’m in a funk or when I’ve DNFed multiple books in a row.

    • I also am a bit behind in blog reading, it happens when things get busy. I hope things slow down for you soon once all the school year-end things are done.

I re-read more often now with audio books.
