sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty good week. It was nice to have a pretty standard week for a chance in contrast to the previous few weeks with screen troubles. My new screen is still working great and I love my new keyboard. I had a book blitz and blog tour that I organized run this week, sent out a media kit for the blitz next week and put a new sign-up post live. And my standard hours of assistant work ofcourse.

It was my birthday this week as well, I didn’t do anything special. I wanted to buy a cheesecake, but the eat by date was so short I decided to skip it. We also visited my boyfriend’s parent as his mom recently had her birthday too. I also finished two books and got a bit of gaming done.

The upcoming two months are going to be crazy in terms of review copies, it seems all the ARC teams I am part of suddenly have a release and I joined two torus for October too. It’s a good thing these are all books I am really looking forward too, but it’s going to be difficult reading everything before the release date. And I just know there’s probably an ARC team I am part of that hasn’t communicated the next release yet, that will also fall in the next two months.

I’ve also been working a bit on cleaning up my social media. On Facebook I am unfollowing and unliking people and pages that I don’t want to see anymore. I hide posts that I don’t like and try to like the ones I do, so hopefully Facebook will start showing me more of the things I want to see. I am also unfollowing some people on twitter, some of them I don’t even know who they are and I rather see more form the people I am interested in.

What did I read this week?

Compelled by the VampirePressure Head

Both were great reads. Compelled by the Vampire was a fun read with a girl who hates vampires who gets turned into one. It had some romance and a plot line that I think will get developed in the next books more. Pressure Head was great too with the way it combined mystery, romance and a hint of paranormal.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Jumper’s Hope by Carol van Natta
Review: Blazing Light by Chloe Adler

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Shattered at Sea by Cheryl Hollon
– Review: Take me to the Moon by Diane Vallere

Book Haul:

Obsessed with the VampirePisces Hooks TaurusRealms and RebelsNewsletter NinjaSurrealGrave PromiseThree Mages and a Margarita

Lost of new books this week! Obsessed with the Vampire and Surreal Estate I got for review. Pisces Hooks Taurus and Three Mages and a Margarita are for review for tours I signed-up for. I am so happy I got accepted for both those tours. Realms and Rebels, Newsletter Ninja and Grave Promise I bought. I’ve been in a bit of a non-fiction mood lately and the author of my current non-fiction book recommended this one so I bought it. Realms and Rebels and Grave Promise have been on my wishlist for a bit now and were both 99 cents.

Which new release of next month are you most looking forward to?

  1. Yay new screen! And happy birthday!!! Ooh a vampire book! Wow, you got a lot of new books this time. It does seem like Sep/Oct is when a lot of books come out??? At least, for me too, usually with series, and usually self-pub. It’s a weird pattern I’ve noticed lol.

    • Thanks! The vampire book was a good one and I hope to read book 2 soon :). I already got a lot of October ARCs. All the September ones probably are going to be last minute ones. I think September is a pretty good sales/ publishing month in general from what I heard. Probably because the summer vacation is over again and people spend time behind their computer again buying books? Who knows.

  2. It is nice to have an easy week now and then when everything works and tasks get done. Ah, too bad on the cheesecake, but if it was just going to spoil before you ate it up then not worth it. Fun that you got a birthday visit in and did some gaming.
    Glad you enjoyed both books.
Wow, you did get a stack to keep you busy. I know you’re right about how there are a few times a year when there are more book releases than usual. September is my big one each year because all the holiday books come out then, too (not that I read them that early). πŸ™‚

Have a good week and hopefully the screen will continue to work well.

    • Yeah it was too bad about the cheesecake, but it would be a shame to let it spoil.

September and October seems very full with new released. But it’s fun with so many new releases I am excited for.

    • It’s a fun series so far :). Thanks! I hope I can get some cheesecake maybe this week and my sister has promised to make a cake when she comes to visit.

    • I really like cheesecake, but I hate baking it, so I am a bit sad I couldn’t get the storebought one. But I had a great blueberry muffin this week.

  3. I went on a facebook break a week or so ago because I was tired of seeing things I didn’t want to see and generally tired of it. I hope having a scrub makes it more workable for you! When I go back to it, I’ll be doing exactly the same thing.

    • I like Facebook and use it to keep up with a lot of authors and other bookish stuff, but I also followed a lot of pages and was part of groups I wasn’t interested in seeing anymore. So far the scrub (I am not done yet) has helped a lot already and I am seeing more of what I want to see and less of what I don’t want to see :).

  4. Happy birthday!! Glad you had a good week. Good luck with thew ARC’s. And I know what you mean about social media- I did some clean up recently on Facebook (which I hardly ever use, but I still get all these notifications and you know all that stuff) so that felt good to prune a little, ha ha.

Compelled by the Vampire looks fun, that cover kinda jumped out at me! And Three Mages and a Margarita too- with a title like that! πŸ™‚

    Have a nice weekend!

    • It really has been great to prune my Facebook a bit, I am seeing much more things I want to see now and less things that I don’t want to see, but it’s a long process and I am not fully done yet with the pruning.

The covers for that vampire series are great and the books are good too so far. I liked the title of Three Mages and a Margarita and it sounds like a good one πŸ™‚

  5. Happy birthday! Too bad about the cheesecake though. Cake that your sister will make you sounds good too though. Hope you enjoy your new books.

    • Thanks! I had a fun birthday. I really enjoyed Pressure Head. I bought the box set of the series, so I have the rest of the books already too.
