sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Itโ€™s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty standard week, which was nice after last week. I am getting used to my new computer and am pretty sure I installed most of the programs I need by now. My new (newest? second new screen?) screen finally arrived at Saturday, so we’re planning to install that today. Fingers crossed that one works without any hassles. And then I can return the current one next week.

Even with it being a pretty standard week it was a very full week tough, mostly with work. I did a bunch of hours of assistant work. Send out two media kits for the tour that starts next week and the cover reveal that takes place next week. And I had two tours start this week as well. Last Sunday my boyfriend’s parents visited. Some other things popped up and it just felt like a pretty busy week altogether. I also had an annoying issue I had to deal with. And it’s still really warm here.

It was a good reading week, I finished two great reads. And as July has ended it’s time to have a look at my July reading stats.

July Reading Stats

Books that I read:
Captured by DragonsBonbons and BroomsticksPico's CrushTo See the SunGemini Keeps CapricornTorn SoulDeath Over EasyShattered at Sea

July was a pretty good reading month. Let’s look a bit more at my reading stats for this month. I was quite interested to see these stats, especially how only half of the books I read had a MF romance. I am doing great with my reading goal to read more other types of romances. I got two great MM romances read and even tried a FF romance. I even had a pretty good balance between review and non review books, which I didn’t realize until I looked at my stats. And lots of different settings I read about this month as well.

  • Amount of Books Read: 8 (1 more than June)
  • Genres: 3 Cozy Mysteries, 2 Paranormal Romances, 2 science fiction romance and 1 contemporary romance
  • Favorite Book: To See the Sun by Kelly Jensen
  • Ratings: 6 books got a 4 star and 2 books got a 3 star rating
  • Age Category: 7 Adult books and 1 New Adult book
  • Book Length: 7 full length books and 1 novella length
  • Source: 4 books I got for review, 3 books I bought and 1 that I won
  • New to me Authors: 3 new to me authors this month: Kelly Jensen and Laura Greenwood and Arizona Tape
  • Publisher: 5 books were self published books, 2 were published by Kensington and 1 was published by Riptide
  • Type of Romance: 4 books had a FM romance, 2 books had a MM romance, 1 book had a FF romance and 1 book had a RH (Reverse Harem) romance
  • Romance focus: 3 books had romance as the main focus, 1 books had romance as a side plot line and 3 had only a hint of romance
  • Point of View: 4 Female main characters, 2 multiple point of views, 1 male main character and 1 Dual Point of view
  • Country:
  • 3 books took place in the USA, 1 took place in the UK, 1 on the Mediterranean sea (actually a bit in the US, the UK, Spain and Italy), 1 Fantasy World and 2 in Space/ other planets

What did I read this week?

Heart of a Dire WolfMatsuri and Murder

Heart of a Dire Wolf was really good. It’s such a good series. I also finished Matsuri and Murder by SJ Pajonas, that will be part of this box set that releases next week. It was such a fun read and I liked the change of scenery, the new characters and the mystery

Book Haul:

Witchnapped in WestherhamSummer Snoops and Cozy crimesWinter PrincessMatsuri and MurderBlazing LightFly me to the Moon

Witchnapped In Westerham and Summer Snoops and Cozy Crimes have been on my wishlist for a while and I bought them both for only $0.99 each when they released this week. Winter Princess was also 99cents on kobo, so I decide to finally buy it. Blazing Light I got for review and is the last and third book in this series. Fly me to the Moon I had already bought with the previous title and cover, but I love the idea of a cozy mystery in space, wanted to support the author and it was 99 cents so I bought a copy on Amazon this time as well. Matsuri and Murder I got for review and already finished reading that one, it was such a fun read.

Tell me about something that happened to you this week?

  1. RO

I always enjoy looking at reading and book stats, which give me an idea on what others are reading. Kudos that the work continues to come in steadily. I know that’s important. Yay on things working so well with the new computer. I can imagine that’s a load off your mind. Hope your week is fantastic! Hugs…RO

    • I like looking back and seeing what I read in a month and what genres and such I read most.

It’s been a good few months for work, which is great :). The new computer is great and I am really happy with it.

  2. Well look at you! Such a busy bee ๐Ÿ˜‰ Now new computers can be tricky as yes it takes time to install everything on it! Happy Sunday ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. It looks like you have a really good reading month in July, given how hot it was. And dealing with a new computer isn’t a barrel of laughs – I hate changing my tech and having to install all my files and ensure new programs are working. There are always some glitches… I hope the coming week is a good one – and it would be nice if it was just a tad cooler, too!

    • Yes it really was a good reading month. I am really happy with my new computer, but changing tech is always a bit of a hassle. We finally are having some cooler weather here for a bit.

  4. Yes, you were kept busy this week with new tours and cover reveals and kits. Crossing my fingers your screen works today. Fun that you got to visit with your guy’s folks. Your Cajun Pasta sounds good.

Ha! Neat that you hit the perfect balance in your July reading without even trying. Neat that you had a good variety of couple types, genre, settings, and book sources. Hopefully August will have some good ones for you with that nice haul of sale books you got.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • Sadly I am having problems with my new screen too. It was nice that my boyfriend’s parents came for a visit.

Yeah I was surprised myself by how well I managed that reading balance in July especially without trying.

    • I love looking back at my stars each month and see what I read. It sure was a diverse reading month. I am having some small issues with the new screen too. I found a possible solution that I am trying out next. Or maybe I am just getting too picky now.

    • I am settling in well with my new computer. I am really happy to finally have a new one. The cozy was so much fun. And it sure can get busy when you have multiple tours running at the same time.
