sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty good week. I was busy with enough work, I did assistant work, put a new sign-up post for a tour live and sent out a media kit for a blog tour that starts at the end of this month. Also some non work related stuff that popped up and had to be done. My mom stopped by for a visit this week, which was nice. I tried out a new cookies recipe, lemon and banana cookies. Which were pretty good, but sadly they got a bit soft the next day already as they contained banana.

Sadly it continues to be very warm here and we might get even warmer weather next week., It sure is difficult to keep focused and productive when it’s so warm and our apartment is very difficult to cool down. It’s also a struggle to keep my plants alive as they don’t like all the sun either. I already had to move some out of the windowsill so they don’t get direct sunlight. And apparently we’re getting even warmer weather next week.

We finished watching the first season of The Orville this week, it was a lot of fun, but sadly season 2 isn’t live yet. So now we started watching Star Trek Discovery which is pretty good so far, it has a very cinematic feel somehow. But what have they done to the Klingons? They are totally different and it’s really hard to adjust that with how we’ve sene the Klingons so far And it’s announced there will be a new season of Star wars the Clone Wars, which I am really excited about as we really enjoyed that series.

What did I read this week?

Gemini Keeps CapricornTorn Soul

After I finished To See the Sun last week I knew exactly what I wanted to read next, so I ignored my review books and picked up Gemini Keeps Capricorn. And I was right, it was exactly the book i was in the book for. I really enjoyed it and I love how this author writes her slow burn romances. Wesley and Lloyd made for such a great couple and I liked their banter and dynamic together. And now I am all up to date with this series before book four releases later this year. Torn Soul was a fun read, but two new to me authors and one of the first FF romances i read. I enjoyed it, but had a small issue with something related to the romance and the world building felt very minimal, which made it hard to get a feel of the world.

Red Winter

Tell me about a new recipe you recently tried?

  1. Kudos on all the work you had. Nothing like cash to pay the bills, right?(lol) I like a soft cookie and lemon flavors, so this sounds like a great recipe. The heat here has still been unbearable, so even though I love tasty treats, I try to minimize the oven use. Sounds like your headache problems have cleared up, and that just makes my day! Hugs…RO

    • I usually prefer cookies that stay a bit harder, but the flavor of these were really good. I also try to minimize oven use with this heat.

  2. Glad you have had a busy, productive week, but it does make it difficult to work when it’s so hot. I hope the coming week is good one for you, Lola:)

  3. It’s been hot here, but this past week we got a little break for a few days – down into the high 80s instead of the high 90s (Fahrenheit.) But I keep hearing how hot Europe has been this summer. It doesn’t sound like fun, especially since so many people don’t have air conditioning. I hope things cool off for you soon.

I had the same problem with the Discovery Klingons at the beginning, but after a while I got used to them. I still don’t know why the show changed them so much, but the show as a whole is excellent.

    • It normally doesn’t get this hot here and now we had weeks of really warm weather and it’s difficult to deal with, especially as most houses don’t have air conditioning here.

I am slowly getting used to them now, but I just don’t get why they felt the need to change them. And I have a hard time recognizing individual klingons. It’s a great show so far.

  4. Glad you had a good week 🙂 Banana and lemon cookies sound good! I didn’t realize cookies with banana would get soft the next day though, that’s odd. Sorry about the warm weather. I know how miserable it can be when you’re hot, and I know you don’t have AC :-/ That’s great you made the right choice in choosing a non-review copy that suited your mood 🙂 I may have to do that when I finish my current book or maybe the next one.

I’m so glad you mentioned that Red Winter box set because I love Annette Marie’s other books and have been wanting to read this series, and that is a good price!

    • I didn’t realize either that they would get soft easily, but the taste of the cookies was good. It’s tough to bear the warm weather without an AC, but we did get our fan out of storage, that helps a bit.

I now read two review copies in a row again after that that non-review copy. But sometimes you just have to go with your mood.

I have several of her books on my wishlist and notices she rarely discounts them, so 2.99 for the whole trilogy is a great price. I know how much you enjoy her books and I was wondering if you had read this series.

    • I didn’t know Japan was have a major heat wave too. It really feel like a hot summer. I could go for some more rain, we did have some rain this morning, which was nice.

  5. I hope the heat is less. It’s supposed to be rainy and a bit cooler here this week in NC but humid. We will see. You got a lot accomplished this week anyway – good for you!

  6. Oh how I hate hot weather. I will take winter anytime. So sorry you are suffering without air. It’s been miserable here, but we do have air so I can’t complain. I like most things banana and things lemon but not sure if I would like them together. Sounds interesting, although soft! Hope it cools off for you soon!

    • I don’t like it when it’s too cold either, but that still is easier to deal with than the heat. It was a weird flavor combination, but it did work.
