sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another full week. I had felt a bit off this week at times and had some struggles with sleeping enough and feeling tired and I had some trouble focusing some days. But I did get most of the important work done this week. I had a bunch of work to do, a tour I organized is still running, a new sign-up post went live and I had to send out media kits for the tour starting next week. I also did my usual hours of assistant work.

Then besides work it also was busy with non work related things. My sister stayed for dinner and a visit one day, which was fun and she brought cheesecake, which was delicious. Then the next day my mom visited for a bit and we talked and had tea, she’s setting up her own Etsy shop that we talked about for a bit. Then on Friday we had to go to the dentist, turns out I had a cavities, which the dentist fixed immediately. So at least I don’t have to go back for another visit, but with my luck the anesthesia always lasts for hours even for a small thing like this. And I was already hungry as soon as we left the dentist. Luckily I could drink a filling milky drink once we got home using a straw and then I still had to do grocery shopping as well, so I didn’t get much done that day.

On hobby related news, I finished Incognito and am currently working through two Carol Van Natta books, which are great. We also played our new game for a bit again this week. And I read a webcomic. I wasn’t sure if they were something for me, but then I found a webcomic about a girl who falls in love with a mermaid and I went through the whole comic that’s available so far in a short while. I just started a webcomic about a centaur, that another blogger recommended.

Sadly I haven’t had much time for blogging. I replied to some comments, but I haven’t visited or commented on other blogs this week, I hope next week will go a bit better. And as it takes me a bit longer to finish my reads nowadays I only have one scheduled review at the moment and one more I have written, but still need to schedule. I can’t remember the last time I only had one scheduled post.

What did I read this week?

Incognito

I had fun reading Incognito. I would recommend this book if you like New Adult romances with a bit of steam, drama and a hint of suspense.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  1. Hm. It sounded like one of those slightly stressful weeks where nothing major went wrong, but nothing went completely right, either. Although seeing family is always a bonus! Glad you don’t have to return to the dentist, I am putting off going as I know I need some work done and it will be both expensive and stressful! Have a good week, Lola.

    • That is a good way to sum it up. It was nice to see both my sister and my mom this week. And I am glad the dentist could slot me in for the cavity repair immediately, so I didn’t have to return another time and didn’t have time to stress about it more. I hate going to the dentist and it’s often pricey too, so I can see why you’re putting off going.

    • Same here, I really hate going and am glad at least I don’t have to return another time to get the thing fixed. That sounds nice your daughter and grandson visited a few times this week.

  2. Every week is different. I don’t know if it was the heat or stuff happening but I had sleep issues last week. I like your book haul. I am a fan of books with magic! Enjoy them! Anne – Books of My Heart

    • Every week is different indeed. I hope you sleep better next week. I also like books with magic and am looking forward to reading these two books.

    • I don’t think I ever read one until I stumbled upon this one by accident and then I remember the centaur one as another blogger had recommended it.

  3. I’m putting off going to the dentist. It was much better when I worked and had free insurance that paid for most of it. Now that I’m retired it’s so expensive. I didn’t know webcomics even existed. And yummy Shepards Pie! Hope next week is a better one!

    • The dentist is so expensive indeed. My insurance does cover part of it, so that’s good. I think this is the first webcomic I’ve read, it was fun.

    • This week was better in terms of sleep luckily. The cheesecake was really good. And it was fun to see my sister and mom.

  4. Sounds like you were pretty busy, but at least there were some good things, like seeing your sister and mom!

Yay, you’re reading webcomics! XD Is the centaur one Hotblood? I love completed webcomics since you get to read the whole story at once, but I’ve been following along with one that I am totally obsessed with for a while (Bang! Bang! BOOM!), and I’ve discovered that it’s fun doing it that way since you get to leave comments and enjoy everything as it goes along with the creators and the other readers. I don’t think I could keep track of more than one or two ongoing ones though.

That’s awesome you got two ARCs you weren’t sure you’d get! I just joined another author’s review team, so I’m excited about that this week 🙂 Hope you enjoy the books and have a great week!
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…Book Review: Mongrels by Stephen Graham JonesMy Profile

    • It was a busy week, but also some good things indeed.

Yes the centaur one I started is Hotblood :), I am not too far yet, but it’s a fun one so far. The mermaid webcomic turned out to be ongoing, so I have to remember to check back in a while. I don’t think I could keep track of too many ongoing ones either.

I wasn’t sure if I would get Mistake of Magic, but I did review book 1, so I was hoping I would. I just started reading it. The HY Hanna author usually doesn’t announce when ARCs are going out, so it’s always a surprise when they land in my inbox. Joining a new author’s review team is always exciting :).

  5. RO

Sometimes our bodies tell us to slow down and relax, so I hope you get to do that soon. Kudos on spending time with your family, which is always great and getting some reading in. Sending some hugs your way! Hugs…RO

  6. I love the cover for that Alex Lidell book!
I’m in the opposite position from you with scheduled posts. Usually I have 1 or 2 max but I’m on a roll at the moment and have over 1o.
It’s a good thing too as I’ve also been struggling to keep up with the blog as life gets stupid busy.
    Have a great week!

    • The whole series has great covers so far!

That’s awesome you got so many scheduled posts. It can be great to be so ahead.
