sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Overall this was a pretty good week. I did work and even made time to write some blog posts, I also got some reading and gaming done. It was still warm, but a tiny bit less warm than last week.

There was one new cover reveal that went live this week on Lola’s Blog Tours and some media kits that went out and a cover reveal that took place. And I got some blogging done this week! I wrote a Lola’s Advice post a Lola’s Kitchen post and three Lola’s Ramblings post and am now back on my being ahead schedule. So I am happy with my progress. I still fell behind on replying to comments, but I think I got more done this week than in previous week. I hope to catch up today on the rest.

My sister and her boyfriend visited on Monday. It was fun, we ate the oreo creamcheese balls I made and drank tea. And she bought me the most adorable penguin for my birthday. And post it’s shaped like animals (they are adorable) and a cute penguin stamp. See pictures below.

Picture of the Week

Birthday-presents
Here are some of the presents I got for my birthday this year. The chocolate bar, cookies mix and pencils I got from my mom. The penguin, animal post-its and stamp I got form my sister. The penguin is now adorning my desk.

And I tried out a new recipe this week for Oreo Creamcheese Balls with Chocolate, they were really good. I already have the recipe post scheduled, although I didn’t make process pictures, just the end result.

What did I read this week?

SeptemberThe Prince and the Cyborg

September was a bit meh with some good parts and also some things I didn’t enjoy like some drama causing plot twists. The Prince and the Cyborg started off as just okay, but it got better and better as it progressed and I ended up enjoying it. I almost am finished with my current read Faerie Realm, which is really good. And I made a start on A Mortal Song, which is off to a great start.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

Review: Romancing the Stars

The ChaseMandrake CompanyIt's Your Party, Die If You Want ToBloodless

The Chase and Mandrake Company are both sci-fi romance books/ box sets that I bought to 0.99$. Mandrake Company was on my wishlist for a bit and I decided to buy it as I am in a sci-fi romance mood again. And The Chase was the first 3 episodes discounted and it sounded interesting, so I got it. I got It’s Your Party, Die If You Want To for review from netgalley, I read the first book already and I am curious to see where the series goes next and I like the Halloween theme of the cover. Bloodless I got for review from the author, I really enjoyed the first book and am looking forward to reading this one. The first book The Immortality Cure is discounted to 0.99$ for a limited time.

  1. It does sound like you had a productive week. I, on the other hand, feel like I’ve hardly gotten any reading or blogging done :-/ I’m not even gonna be ahead on posts soon if I keep this up! (Ok, I guess I have enough book reviews to last a while at least lol.)

That is an adorable little penguin! And I’m glad you had a fun day with your sister and her boyfriend πŸ™‚

It sounds like your books last week were good but not great? That’s still not bad at least. And it sounds like you’re enjoying your currents ones even more πŸ™‚ Have a great week!

    • I really tried to focus on blogging this week as I hate falling behind. I always want to be two months ahead at the end of each month with my discussion posts as else I stress over it.

And at least you have a lot of reviews scheduled ahead, I am only two or three weeks ahead with reviews usually.

Yes they were both good, but not great or at least not fully great. It still was a pretty decent reading week. I just finished Faerie Realm and it was really good and I have it 4 stars and A Mortal Song is really good so far, so it sure seems these both will be even better ones than last week.

  2. Congrats on getting ahead, were having a long weekend here so I’m using that to get myself ahead. Your penguin is so cute, and that cookie mix looks good. There’s a girl I work with who makes those Oreo Cream Cheese balls for the Christmas Party every year and they’re pretty good. Hope you have a great week!

    • You can try ;).

I am curious about this Vickie Fee book with the Halloween theme and the first book was a nice one, so I hope this one is too.

    • The penguin is now on my desk, so I can stare at it all day. It’s so cute! The recipe is scheduled for the 16th this month, it’s quite easy to make and they taste really good. I still have some cream cheese yet, so I might make them again soon.

  3. Glad you got a lot done this week, I need to get moving on my stuff. I am not behind but if I want to be ahead I need to get moving.

The penguin is so cute and I love the animal post-its. I can sort of see them in the picture and they look so cute.
The oreo balls looks yummy. Will have to check out the recipe since that would be fun to make for the holidays.

I hope you have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • I wasn’t behind , but wanted to make sure I stayed ahead and it feels good to have gotten some posts written this week :).

The penguin now stands on my desk were I work and blog. It’s not the best picture to show the post-its, but you can see them. They are adorable πŸ™‚

The oreo balls are quite easy to make and really good. I have the recipe scheduled for the 16th. They sure would work well for the holidays.

  4. Glad you had a lovely, yummy birthday:)). It sounds like it was a productive week all round… Hope the rest of your birthday month goes well and have a great week.

    • I was really happy with all the gifts I got and got to see my family πŸ™‚

I am really happy with those two sci-fi romance purchases as they were both authors I heard of before and am curious to give their books a try.

  5. It’s nice to get ahead, so congrats on the Ramblings posts. I like doing discussions but have been starved for ideas lately, so when you get ahead on posts like that it’s always nice. πŸ™‚ The penguin is cute and those cheeseballs with chocolate look yummy.

Hope you had a great birthday! And I like your Games posts.

    • I have enough ideas, but not enough time tow rite them all. Or I don’t have the inspiration to write a particular idea, so it helps to have a lot of ideas. And it really is great to get ahead with them.

I am glad to hear you like my games posts, I have fun writing them as well πŸ™‚

  6. I am not familiar with any of the books you mention so I look forward to reading your thoughts on them. Happy Birthday late! Looks like you had a good one-hope so! Hope you enjoy your books and have a great week πŸ™‚

  7. That’s one thing I hate to do, fall behind on anything, (even blogging) so I’m with you, there. I never feel like I can catch up, when I do (eg. Nanowrimo 2015. Ugh!) Anyway, I hope you had a good birthday. πŸ™‚ The penguin is adorable! I knit, rather than crotchet (though I have a friend who’s waiting to teach me), and I try to make my own stuffed animal one day–to add to my already-too-big collection. πŸ™‚ Have a good week, Lola!

    • I want to stay ahead as a much as possible, I hate falling behind on anything. So it’s nice I got a lot of posts done last week, especially as this week was filled with other things again.

I love the penguin, it’s so adorable. I would love to learn to knit or crotchet once as it sounds fun and you can make so many awesome things with it.

      • I have found it fun, Lola. But it took a long time to get over the frustrating beginning. I have a friend or two that knit and if it wasn’t for them, I’d never have gotten to where I feel confident enough to post my projects on Instagram and Ravelry for the world to see.(Read: Giggle at!) πŸ˜‰ I almost gave up! Between them and youtube, I’ve been able to make a couple shawls and scarves. I’ll get there! But yes, if you want to try, I say do. I started way, way later than my friends and I am getting better all the time.

  8. Yay for a good week. Ahhhh, your penguin is adorable and those look like fun presents.

Yum on the Oreo Cheesecake Balls.

Sorry your reads for meh, but glad the second one got better.

Nice haul! I love seeing you picking up more sci-fi. I can get recommendations from your reviews. πŸ™‚

    • Yes the presents were all fun and I am really happy with the penguin. I’ll be sharing the recipe for the oreo cream cheese balls next week, they were great.

I am really enjoying the sci-fi reads lately! I’ve found some good ones so far πŸ™‚

  9. Happy belated birthday, Lola! It looks like you made quite a haul with gifts. The penguin IS ADORABLE!! I’m happy you had a pretty good and definitely productive week. I hope this week continues that way. And I’ll have too look to see if I can find my recipe for a chocolate chip cheeseball…it’s made with cream cheese and maybe powdered sugar? I can’t remember. But it has mini chocolate chips in it and it’s really good. Your oreo cream cheese balls made me think of them. πŸ˜€ Enjoy your week! <3

Oh a chocolate chip cheeseball sounds good too! The oreo cream cheese balls were really good and I can see this working with different ingredients as well.
