sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

It was a bit of a meh week, not for any specific reason, but this week just seemed to drag and go too fast at the same time. It had some bad days, where I just felt grumpy the whole day for no reason at all. I also spend way too much time worrying, hopefully that will finally go away next week. Although it might take a few more weeks to completely disapear. And I have a dentist appointment next week for our half yearly check-up, ugh, not looking forward to that.

I also focussed a bit on some Lola’s Blog Tours site related things this weeky. I finally managed to change the colour of the links on my testimonials page thanks to Ashley her html/ CSS help post on Nosegraze. I’ve been trying to fix this for a while and couldn’t figure it out, but Ashley knew how to solve it and gave me a clear answer on how to fix it! And then I decided it would be nice to make a form for testimonials, so authors and bloggers can submit a testimonial. I usually ask author once their tour has ended if they want to write a testimonial, but some authors only did review opportunities which are still going on and this offers the opportunity for everyone to write a testimonial.

My sister got confirmation this week that she and her boyfriend got a house and she will be moving out somewhere mid/ end april. So change is coming soon. To be honest it will be nice having the house to ourselves, although in terms of money it’s going to be tough for a while. I have the feeling April is going to be a crazy month. Not sure when exactly she will be moving out, hoping to get mroe clarification about how things will be going next week.

Then saturday I had a headache for the whole day and after dinner it got so bad I couldn’t stand the light anymore. I’ve had bad headaches before, but never so bad as this one, I usually can still function. Now I had to go lie down for a whole hour with all the light out before it got back to a bearable level. Needless to say I didn’t got much work done yesterday.

I got some reading done this week as well. I finished my beta read, which I really had to force myself to finish. Then I finished a fun novella and after that decided to ignore all the books I should read and start a romance novel as I was realy in the mood for a romance book. And I am reading a fun dragon shapeshifter book on my ipad now, after I finished my first historical romance book. So those who voted for In for Penny during the My To-Be Read list meme, I actually have read the book as well and you can expect my review next week!

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Sunday:
  • Extra: Half chocolate half peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips
  • Monday: Fried Quinoa
  • Tuesday: Risottto with broccoli, paprika, pesto and spinach
  • Wednesday: fried quinoa leftovers
  • Thursday: Red Curry with Pineapple – recipe post coming in July
  • Friday: Sajoer Beans
  • Extra: Crumb Cake
  • Saturday: Carrot Souffle with vega saucage and baked champignons

Random Picture(s) of the Week

Smarties nose from hammock
This is one of the so called Pita Hammocks, I usualy hang them in the cage in a different way, but tried somethign new. About an hour after the rats got into the cage I foudn Smarties lying in the hammock. It seems she enjoys it like this!

Smarties in Hammock
She woke as I was taking a picture of her and showed her face.

half chocolate/ half peanut butter cookies
The Half chocolate half peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips I made this week. They were pretty good, although the chocolate dough needs a bit of tweaking as there was a bit too much cacao powder in it for our taste.

LovestruckLovestruck (True Calling #1.5)
by Siobhan Davis

Format: e-copy
Source: for review
You can find Lovestruck on Goodreads

Blurb:
Everything changed the moment he found her…

Cal Remus is in love.

But the object of his affection barely acknowledges his existence. Worse: She acts like he’s the dirt sticking to the bottom of her shoe. Weaker men might give up. But not Cal. Hell no, he loves a good challenge and Ariana Skyee has made this the most intriguing challenge of all.

Having read his father’s confidential military files, Cal should be concerned about the seemingly fragile new world order on Planet Novo and the events back on Earth. But he’s distracted.

Securing Arianas love is his number one priority.

He’s going to win her heart, or die trying.

***
Special note from the author:

This short story is narrated solely from Cal Remus’ point of view, and it depicts the events leading up to the introduction of ‘The Calling.’ That is; the events that pre-date True Calling, Book 1 in the series. This can be read as a stand-alone story. However, if you are planning on reading the True Calling series, I recommend that you read the titles in the following sequence:

True Calling – Book 1
Lovestruck – Short Story
Beyond Reach – Book 2
Light of a Thousand Stars – Novella
Destiny Rising – Book 3.

    • I really enjoyed In for a Penny, it was my first historical romance book I read and I am definitely planning on reading more. Although it took me a while to get used to the historical words and style of the book, but I think that’s just because I am new to the genre.

    • I am happy they liked the new position of the hammock. I agree I would love to have a hammock to read it, it would be so comfy! Actually we do have a hammock, but no place to put it as we only have a small balcony :(.

    • I hope next week will be better. The headaches seem so random sometimes, I’ve had moments where I only have one every two weeks, but now I seem to have one every week again. And this time was one of the worst ones, ugh I never felt that bad during a headache and I couldn’t stand not being able to work.

  1. Omg this cookies look so good! And I’m ready for that red curry recipe – I love curry but don’t really know how to make it. I decided I’m going to by the stuff to do the pesto spinach pasta this week. I’m ready to get adventurous!

I’m sorry you had a kinda blah week followed by what sounds an awful lot like a migraine. I’ve been getting them since I was 13, due to a crack in my skull. I’ve learned that sometimes I need a just a wee-bit of caffeine if I can feel it coming on in time. And I don’t drink caffeine as a rule (no soda, no tea, no coffee) but I keep diet soda on hand for when I need to hold off a migraine. If I don’t catch it though – its lights off, no sound, and a cool towel draped over my face. I hope that was your one and only though! Have a great week (good luck at the dentist)!

    • I used to make curry with storebrought curry paste, but nowadays I try to make them from scratch if possible and I am really hapy with how this curry recipe turned out. I hope you like the pesto spinach pasta 🙂

Yeah I think I have migraine, but never officialy got diagnosed. It usually isn’t this bad though, I never had light sensitivity this bad. I’ve had a few migraine with aura attacks in the past, luckily I haven’t had those in a while. But I have regular headaches/ migraine with pain going to one side of my head mostly and that’s one of the symptoms of migraine. I drink a lot of earl grey tea each day and often get headaches when I don’t drink any, maybe I should try drinking soem extra cups of tea when I feel one coming. I usually feel them coming, but can’t figure out how to stop them.

    • They were really good, although it needs a bit tweaking before I can make a recipe post about it as the chocolate half was a bit too strong now due to too much cacao powder.

I am assuming it was a migraine, but I never officialy got diagnosed. I have them every two weeks or so, but never this bad, I almost believed someone had changed my computer screen settings as it was so bright. Usually it’s just one evening and one morning of headache that sticks to one side of my head.

  2. So, I’ve always wanted to comment on your blog because you’re always so good at commenting on mine, but I didn’t realize you had this blog. I only knew about your blog tours one. I hope you haven’t thought that I was evil, lol.

I love the pictures with your pita hammocks with your rat in them. Your rat is so cute!!! And, your cookies look delicious!

    • I have both this one and my blog tours one, although that one is only for blog tours I organize, everything else I post here. I was so happy I got a picture of her nose like that, she’s so adorable. Will post the recipe ocne I’ve tweaked it a bit. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. The pictures of Smarties in the hammock are super cute. I had a bunny named Smartie once. 🙂 The cookies look delish! I’m sure it’ll be nice to have some more space for yourselves in your house again, but I definitely understand the financial disadvantages. Also, kudos to you for being so organized you already know what you’ll post when. 😀 I hope you enjoy your new reading material and that next week will be PHENOMENAL and headache-free for you! 🙂

    • What a coincidence you had a pet called Smarties as well. It will be nice to have it be just the two of us in the house, although the financial aspect is going to be hard for a while. I already have all my posts scheduled for next week, so that makes it easy to know when to post, I love feeling organized. A week without headache would be nice!

  4. Sounds like you have a migrane. Those are no fun at all, I heard green apples help if you eat them. Seriously lol

That baby looks so cute in the hammock 🙂 Those cookies looks delicious! I need to go back and look to see what recipe posts I missed on my break!

I hope this week is better for you! *HUGS*

    • Oh I’ll have to try eating a green apple next time, I don’t really like them, but if it works it will be worth it. I never got diagnosed, but yeah I think I have migraine.

She’s adorable in that hammock, after I took that picture I haven’t seen her in the hammock, lol. You missed the Shepherd’s pie recipe only I think.

Thanks I hope this week will be better!

    • Yeah she really seemed to like the hammock positioned in this way. I have already read the new book I got this week, it was a short story, so it only took me about an hour to read it.

    • I know how at first I hardly had any hammocks, but we quickly foudn out that hammocks is a great way to fill up their cage and they love them. And ofcourse they have Sputnik and Igloo, which are among their favourite places to sleep as well.

I probably have migraine, but never got diagnosed. I usually have to wait out my headaches, they usually start around dinner and go away around lunch the next day. I have tried a lot of thigns, but nothing seems to make them disapear earlier than that.

    • The cage we have is originally a ferret cage, although I think it would be too small for more than one ferret. We also have one ferret hammock, which works just fine for rats as well. Ferrets sounds like great pets, although I think we’ll stay with rats for now.
I am glad I decided to pick up a book for fun, I already finished the book I was reading and am now reading another romance book and am loving this one!
