For today’s top ten list post we could pick our own topic, so I picked favorite books with neurodivergent main characters. I got diagnosed as autistic earlier this year, it has changed a lot in my life and one of the things I’ve done is trying to read more books with neurodivergent characters.

I limited my picks to books that I read so far in 2023 (there’s one book I read in 2022) and fiction books only. I also selected only books where in the book itself it is made clear the main character is neurodivergent or the author has explicitly stated this. In the case of most of these books neurodivergent means the main character is autistic, an ADHD’er or both of those. I am linking up with Books of My Heart.

I wanted to give away one of the books on my list to one winner. I had to limit it to those available on Smashwords as that’s the easiest way for me to gift an ebook. For a chance to win, enter the rafflecopter below:

Have you read any books with neurodivergent characters this year?

    • Most of these books were the first books I read by these authors and I didn’t know them before this. Let me know if you remember any of the titles of books you read with neurodivergent main character as I would like to look them up :).

    • I thought it made for a great topic as I’ve been trying to read more books with neurodivergent main characters and wanted to share them. It’s been very helpful knowing I am autistic, I hope it’s been helpful for your daughter as well.

    • I felt this would be a perfect topic for this top ten list where we could choose our own topic. I definitely recommend The Honey Bear Series, I am eagerly awaiting book 3.
