For 2025 I set some gentle reading goals for myself and I liked this, so I am setting some goals again for 2026. A lot of them the same as previous year, but I changed some and swapped some out for new ones.

If you want to see how I did with my 2025 Reading Goals, you can read my recap post here.

Reading Goals for 2026

  • Read 12 Non-fiction Books. Same goal as last year, I only barely made this one last year. So only setting this one a bit higher, I really like to continue to read some nonfiction books and about 1 per month seems doable. I hope to get more read, but we’ll see how that goes.
  • Read 20 Cozy Fantasy Books. I love the cozy fantasy genre and totally smashed my goal in 2025, so I am setting the bar higher and aiming for 20 cozy fantasy books this year.
  • Read 4 Books that are Re-reads. I don’t re-read a lot, but I like to remind myself to make some time for re-reads, same goals as last year with 4 books.
  • Read 20 Books by new-to-me authors. I like trying out new-to-me authors so I kept this goal from last year and the same amount.
  • Read 4 books with non-binary characters. Another one I kept from last year, I want to continue reading some books non-binary characters.
  • Read 6 Books with Autistic Characters. I also kept this one from last year, as an autistic person myself I like reading books with autistic characters and want to continue my goal to get some of those read.
  • Read 10 Books that are review copies I got in 2025. I did not do so well with my 2025 goal of requesting fewer review copies and in fact have a whole pile I didn’t get to in 2025. I hope to make a good dent into that pile, so set the goal on 10, hopefully I can get even more done.
  • Read 4 Books that I got for free. I liked this goal and trying to get some free books read, so I am keeping this one around.
  • Track how many new series I start. I want to get more insight in how many new series I start, so this one is just one to track how many new series I start.
  • Start 4 new cozy mystery series. I have so many cozy mystery series I picked up book 1 for and want to try and get some of those started.
  • Finish 6 Series. I want to actually finish some series I started, this might be a bit optimistic goal as I have no clue how many series I usually finish in a year and I read a lot of ongoing series too. So we’ll see how it goes.

Specific Book or Series Goals

  • Continue the St Marin’s Series by ACF Bookens. I read the first 6 books before 2026 and while I didn’t get any read in 2025, I hope to get back to this series and read some this year as I really enjoy this author’s books and this is the only series I am not caught up with.
  • Continue the Cranberry Cove Series by Peg Cochran. I listened to book 1 last 2025 and want to continue the series. There are currently 10 books out in this series, so plenty of more books to listen to.
  • Continue the Cat in the Stacks Series by Miranda James. I read the first 9 books before 2026 and want to continue it, the series has 17 books out now, so plenty more to listen to.
  • Listen to Banshees & Boba by Nia Quinn. This was one of my 2025 goals, but the audiobook version didn’t release yet, so I am hoping to get to it in 2026 as I think it will be released soon.
  • Read at least 1 book RJ Blain. Another goal I didn’t get to in 2025, so I am adding this one again.
  • Read at least 2 books by Celia Lake. I heard of this author’s books recently and bought a few of her books on sale. These sound like my type of books they are cozy with interesting sounding characters and a bit of magic. I hope I can try 2 of them and see if I like this author’s books.

What are some of your reading goals for 2026?

  1. Looking forward to your reviews, Lola!

For me, I’m going to continue to track what I’ve been reading. I put a goal of 12 books on Goodreads, but I’m not going to stress out about whether or not I fulfill it this year. I do want to continue one series I fell in love with last year…it’s got 30 books in it, so I don’t know how long it will take me to read them all. Mainly, I’ll be trying to read down my massive TBR list. (Why do these things always grow and multiple like tribbles?? ;)) I’ve got many other things on my plate, right now.
