sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This week was really busy and I worked a lot of hours. I had 5 new tours open for sign-up on Lola’s Blog Tours and I started a trial month as Marketing Assistant for an author. Both of those combined made this a very busy week. I like being busy, but sometimes I am bit too much of a workaholic to know when to stop. One of the problems with working at home and having your own company I guess. I also spend an evening with stomach cramps and another one with a terrible headache.
On friday evening I took a break from work and it was nice to have a free evening, I watched some anime with my boyfriend. We’re currently watching Witch Hunter Robin, I really like the dark and quiet feel of the anime. Saturday was less busy as well, so that really helped me regain my energy and feel ready for the next week!

On Tuesday was Pita’s surgery. I was so tired from standing up early I almost didn’t feel nervous. I was really glad when I got the call she was awake and I could pick her up from the vet again. The surgery went well, but she does have a nasty wound as the tumor had grown a lot. It did bleed a bit, which scared me a lot, but after a quick e-mail to the vet we found out that was actually quite normal. We spend a lot of time with her the rest of the week. She’s such a quiet rat and it’s difficult to figure out if she’s hurting or not. She’s not eating as well as she should, so we’re giving her lots of yummy things, which she does eat.

Concerning cooking and baking, this was a pretty uneventfull week. I didn’t bake anything and for dinner I mostly used recipes I already tried once, the only new thing I tried was making shawarma. It was a bit bland, but the aoli (spanish oil based garlic sauce) compensated for that. I made a vega version for myself and with meat for my boyfriend, it wasn’t really a challenge beside getting the spices right.
And my boyfriend stopped by a shop on his way back from school on friday and came home with lots of spices in big packages! I am so excited to try them all out! They are mostly indian spices as I am still in my indian cooking phase.

And sci-fi month November has started! Yesterday was my first post for this monthly feature, you can vote which sci-fi book you want me to read this month. I am really excited as this is my first time participating in an event like this! All sci-fi month posts will include the sci-fi month banner and have the tag November sci-fi month. I’ll have two sci-fi book reviews and a Lola’s Ramblings posts scheduled for next week!

blog ahead
And this November I am also participating in Blog Ahead. So far I am not really doing well, haven’t written a single post yet. I have lowered my goal to ending with 5 more scheduled posts then I am started, but I still have to compensate for all those posts scheduled for this month.

Random Picture(s) of the Week

THIS IS SEASON TWO OF DEBT COLLECTOR*
Recommended: start with Season One.

*pre-order of the full season available

What’s your life worth on the open market?
A debt collector can tell you precisely.

Wraith has agreed to Gehenna’s first demand, but Moloch’s Cult of Death has a larger, more mysterious mission… and Wraith has to decide how far she’s willing to go to stop it.

Menace is approximately 14,000 words or 56 pages, and is the third of nine episodes in the second season of The Debt Collector serial. This dark and gritty future-noir is about a world where your life-worth is tabulated on the open market and going into debt risks a lot more than your credit rating.

It is recommended that you start with the first season, but each season is a complete story for that debt collector and can serve as an entry point to the series. There are five planned seasons in the Debt Collector series, the first four each from the perspective of a different debt collector with the fifth season bringing all four together.

    • So far I am enjoying the trial month :). It’s a bit different from my normal work for Lola’s Blog Tours and I like the variety. And I agree I think my body was telling me to slow down, but it’s so difficult to listen sometimes.

  1. Man sounds like you’ve had a busy week for sure! I definitely see what you mean about working from home and being your own boss. I’d probably slip into being a workaholic too. You always remind me that I still have my Susan Kaye Quinn book that I STILL haven’t read! SHEESH! Hope you have a great week Lola!

    • It was a busy week indeed, but it was also a good week. I sometimes have difficulties deciding when I worked enough. Also because I start my day late I have to work till in the evening to get everything done. And to be honest I don’t mind being a workaholic so I don’t really take steps to make it less.

I probably will keep reminding you of that Susan Kaye Quinn book for a few mroe weeks as she’s releasing an episode each week. btw which book do you have? I really enjoyed all her books so far.

    • Pita is doing fine, she’s just being a bit quiet and lazy. And needs lots of attention ;).
I am not sure if I have enough time for Blog Ahead this month, but I wanted to try it anyway.

    • I really like the Debt Collector series and Susan her writing style. The first episode is free if you’re interested in checking it out.

    • Yeah it’s been a stressfull week, but it’s annoying when you still have so much to do and your body hurts.

And indeed as long as they eat the yummies they are okay 🙂

    • It’s a fun challenge were the whole month is focussed on the sci-fi genre, it’s my first time participating, but so far it’s fun!

  2. I think I would have the same problem with working at home. I know when I left my job it took awhile to get the whole housewife thing figured out. One of the things I had to do was put a time cap when working was officially done otherwise I’d just keep going and end up cranky and tired. Hopefully Pita is feeling better and this will be the last health scare with her for awhile. The Indian spices sound so interesting! I love Indian food but haven’t played around with it much at home. Also, I think a good aioli fixes any bland dish! I’m all about the sauces! Have fun with SciFi November, good luck with the Blogging Ahead Challenge and have a great week!

    • I can imagine how putting a time cap on the work time would help! Maybe I should try that once. I really hope Pita will stay healthy for a while now! It’s been so sad to see her get sick twice so soon.
I try a lot of indian recipes and most turned out pretty well, so I am happy to have a large new batch of spices to use. And they wer emuch cheaper then at our normal supermarket.
      Thanks for stopping by Katherine!

  3. Glad to hear Pita is doing well, and hope that continues. I think Sci Fi Month will be a blast, with all the posts scheduled out it’s fun to see what’s coming up. Looking forward to your posts as well. Good luck with your work this week.

  4. I do hope Pita is feeling better! It’s so hard when the furry ones aren’t feeling well.

I am not doing good with blog ahead either only because this week I realized how behind I really was and have a few posts to get done for this month before I can start for the future. Kind of bummed I didn’t plan better.

You need to take a break once in a while and breath don’t want you to wear yourself out. 🙂

    Have a great week Lola!

    • She seems to be doing better and getting lost of attention 🙂

I still have quite some posts for this month to write as well. I did write My To-Be Read List post for december today, so at least I got that done. I am a bit stuck on which posts to schedule ahead as I don’t participate in many memes and the memes I do I usually schedule a week in advance. And I don’t read as much so I don’t really have any reviews to write either. Maybe I’ll just write some more Lola’s Ramblings posts when I have the inspiration.

But I don’t have time to take a break ;). The weekend was les sbusy, so i feel a bit more rested and ready for this week now!

    • Thanks, Pita is doing well. Her wound has almost healed and in a few days she can get back to the cage with the other two girls.
So far it’s fun work beign an author’s assistant, it’s different work than Lola’s Blog Tours work and I like it. I am mostly researching promotion sites so far, but will also help with other things.

    • Yeah it was a rough week for her indeed, luckily she’s doing well, her wound like nice and in a few days she can get back to the cage. We’re always beign carefull with keeping them apart as the first time one of your rats had a surgery the other rats tore the stitches and it was a nasty sight. I really hope she’ll keep doing well and we can stay away from the vet for a while.
