sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
I had hoped this week would be less busy then last week, but unfortunately it was almost as busy as last week, but lots of good things happened as well.
There was quite some work for Lola’s Blog Tours, with a new review opportunity and a new blog tour open for sign and I celebrated my first anniversary! I can hardly believe it’s been a year already! My boyfriend bought a cake to celebrate :). And there is a giveaway for 2 books up till 10$ from The Bookdepository, so make sure to stop by!

My boyfriend started going to uni again this week, this is his last year studying Japanese language and culture. It will take some time to adjust to his new schedule again. I tried out two new recipes again this week: One Pot Wonder Thai Style Peanut Pasta and Roasted Pumpkin Risotto.

Pita seems to be recovering well from her infection, although theusday she suddenly sat quietly in a corner of the cage. The vet told us that due to the fact she got two antibiotics she could get diaree and become dehydrated. The vet mentioned that she would go sit quietly in a corner if she would get dehydrated and we then had to stop one of the antibiotics. So we stopped with the second anibiotic and made sure to give her lots of yummy drinks, like cucumber and porridge. That seemed to help and the next day she looked better again. She is still acting a bit off sometimes and yesterday we discovered a bump in her side, I feel so sad. We’ll be going to the vet this week again to see if it really is a tumor and what they can do about it. Our poor girl πŸ™
Edit: the bump in her side has shrunk today, we have no idea what it is, but we’ll keep an eye on her for the next few days to see what happens. Maybe it wasn’t a tumor after all!

My boyfriend and I are still making progress with Star Trek Voyager, we’re now watching the 4th season. The switch between season 3 and 4 was done very nicely and I like the stroyline with the Borg and how they got a new crewmember.
And there finally has been some romance with one of the couples I’ve been routing for. It was slow building (I mean we only had to wait 3 seasons!), but I loved the anticipation. Although it’s kinda obvious the show isn’t about the romance as it takes 3 seasons to even have some romance, not that I mind, there are so much other things to love about this series. I plan on writing a review of the whole Star Trek Voyager series when finish watching it.
And we just watched some confusing time episodes, basically we watched two episodes to find out that it actually didn’t happen and if hat didn’t happen something earlier in the series shouldn’t have happened either, which makes no sense. Ugh this is the reason I hate time travel stories, they don’t make sense!

I’ve also been active with the blog. Michelle from Because Reading is Better Then Real Life has been working on new banners for the review, cover reveal and about me posts. And they look absolutely awesome! I’ve decided to rename the About Me posts to Lola’s Ramblings as I feel that better fits with the content as it’s not all about me, but also about books or other random things. The name change will start next week and the new banners will be incorprated as soon as I have the final versions.
I also had lots of inspiration for discussion posts and have been writing posts like crazy, I have a Lola’s Ramblings posts scheduled for every week for the upcoming next 4 weeks! And I have even more ideas that I still need to write.

So yeah lots of thing happened this week, but while it was a busy week, lots of good things happened as well and some bad things as well. And next week promises to be busy again. And I have to go to the dentist tomorrow :(, just a regular half yearly check-up, but I am still nervous. Sorry this Sunday Post got a bit long!

And an adorable picture of Smarties and Snickers, they can be a tad weird sometimes. One of them is sitting in their food bowl eating and the other one tries to dirnk in an extremely comfy looking position (not).

    • The picture is taken from a distance and their cage is really big, so that’s why the might seem small. They are about the size of my hand with fingers (and that’s without their tails). Male rats can get a lot larger though.
Thanks, it was a great day and celebrating with cake is always good ;).

    • Thanks Trish, I really hope Pita will be okay, I hope I have more positive news next week.
I am glad to hear you like the new title Lola’s Ramblings. I thought about it for a long time, but thought switching names was the best option, the former name just didn’t sound right anymore. And I am really happy with this title!
I hope I’ll get some more work next week for Lola’s Blog Tours! It’s so awesome to reach that first year milestone!

  1. Carol

Good story again πŸ˜€ Like reading it every week ^_^
I hope Pita will be alright πŸ™ Poor girl πŸ™ and good luck on the dentist tomorrow! Hope you’ll be fine πŸ˜€

    • Thanks :). I hope Pita will be alright, weirdly enough today the bumb seemed to haev shrunk, so maybe we jumped to conclusions too early? We’ll keep a close ey on her to see what happens.
And I really hate going to the dentist, I hope I don’t have any cavities this time.

    • It’s hard to see her off, we’ve been extra nice to her this week and let her run on our bed every evening before we go to sleep as she seems happy then. She’s so smart that now she anticipates it and on half past 12 every evening she get’s active and waits for us to take her out of her cage, such a smart girl!
The bump shrunk in size today, so we hope it continues to do that. When Snickers had a tumor it grew every day, so we’re hoping that Pita doesn’t have a tumor.

    • Thanks Grace, it feels so good to have reached that one year milestone!
We hope Pita get’s better soon, at leats her infection has gone away, so that’s good news.
And I am happy I didn’t got any new books this week, I already have so many of them that I still have to read.

    • Thanks! Japanese is a difficult language to learn indeed, but there’s also a lot of focus on the culture and such, so there’s more to the study then learning the language. Which also means that when you graduate there’s still a limit on how well you actually know the language.

    • The pumpkin risotto was really good. I normally don’t cook that much with pumpkin, but all the recipes I find on Pinterest lately seem to be with pumpkin so I thought it was worth a try! And I am glad I did, I’ll certainly will be making this more often.

  2. Happy anniversary! Looking forward to your Ramblings posts… should be fun. I think a review of the Voyager series will be fun to read too- glad you guys are enjoying that show. That’s one I never really saw a lot of…

The Thai style dish looks kinda good too… πŸ™‚

    • I really like the rename and have been busy writing the posts I have one scheduled every week untilt he end of October now. I am starting on the November posts soon, while I still have inspiration.
I really like Voyager although some episodes rub me wrong. I am looking forward to writing a series wide review for it, I can’t imagine how long it will get though, lol.

The peanut butter paste sauce turned out really good and you cook the pasta in the same pan as the sauce, it’s really neat!

  3. That cake looks amazing! Happy anniversary! I’m enjoying your commentary on the Voyager series. It’s been so long since I watched any of it it has me wanting to start over. Time travel frequently drives me nuts with the exception of the Doctor Who episode Blink which was great. Hope Pita continues to feel better. I don’t know much about the immune system of rats but could it be a lymph node swelling up in reaction to the infection and antibiotics? Whatever it is I hope it’s nothing that’s a problem. Have a great week!

    • Thanks Katherine! I am glad you’re enjoying my Voyager commentary, it’s difficult to cauge whether anyone finds it interesting at all, so i am happy with the feedback :). It’s such a fun series and our evening just isn’t complete without one or two episodes Voyager.

I am still not sold on the idea of Doctor Who as I just can’t stand time travel, but who kows maybe I would enjoy that series as well.

I never heard of a lymph node swelling for rats, but then again I haven’t read anything there is about rats yet. It does sound of logical as it only started after the antibiotics. We’ll see if it’s still there tomorrow and if it is just go to the vet with her to make sure.

      • I fixed it, I made a type in the link! That’s what happens when I don’t copy and paste because I know how the link is made up. It should work now.
It’s not an actual tour, but a review opportunity. You can sign-up to receive a rveiew opportunity and have to review the book within 8 weeks in the case of this book.

    • Yeah it was an eventfull week for sure. The cake was really yummy and gone within two days (it was only half a cake).
And thanks! I am really hapy to have reached my first anniversary!

    • Sorry, I just had to share a picture of that delicious cake ;). I am sorry if I could I would send you a piece.
I am glad to hear my cute rats make sure I am forgiven, they are so damned cute and they know it. They make me so happy!

    • Actually the one year was for my blog tour organizing company Lola’s Blog Tours ;). This blog will be 2 years in december! I am glad you like the colour scheme! Hopefully I’ll see you around more often, thanks for stopping by!

  4. Congratulations on the first year of your blog tours! It must be such a huge, overwhelming feeling to have come this far. That’s a milestone and I’m happy for you. Someday I want to be able to open my own blog tour site too, but we’ll have to wait when I’m actually capable of managing that haha. I’m so sorry about your pet! I hope he feels better soon. When my Boston Terrier was sick, I was kinda all over the place because all I ever wanted was for him to feel better and comfortable. Sending hugs his way! And Good luck to your boyfriend! The Japanese language, huh? I’m impressed! That language is a tough one to crack haha I tried to self-teach myself for years and, well, let’s just say it just wasn’t for me XD

    • Thanks, reaching that first year milestone feels so special!
Pita seems to be doing better and the lump keeps shrinking, we contacted the vet eysterday and we’re now thinking it’s probably an infection. We’ll keep an eye on her for a few more days and else go with her to the vet before the weekend, but we’re hoping it will just go away. It’s always difficult when one of them is sick and having sick pets is even more difficult then sick humans as you can’t talk to them about or make them fele better.
Japanese is a difficult language indeed, I am always impressed when he translates something!
