sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This week I took a sort of break from job searching. I feel quilt for not doing a lot of job searching, but I just needed a break fro job searching and all the negatvity that accompanies it. I did have one phone interview, which went okay. So instead of job searching I focussed more on blogging and Lola’s Blog Tours. I’ve been planning an awesome June Cover Reveal Sale on Lola’s Blog Tours next month and it’s going to be awesome! My banner maker already made the promo graphics and I am really happy with how they turned out and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Also the sign-up post for the Nogiku series multiple cover reveal went live, we will be revealing the covers for 4 different books during one cover reveal! I am really excited to be organizing this multiple cover reveal πŸ™‚

Beside that I spend a lot of time preparing for a new D&D session (Dungeon and Dragons, it’s a roleplaying game). Last saturday during the dinner for my grandma’s birthday we got the idea to restart a campaign we played some time ago (which we then stoppen because of some trouble with two players and the storyline). Instead of the two players we used last time, my sister boyfriend will be joining as a player. As I am the DM (Dungeon Master) for this campaign I had a lot of preparing to do, as we’re using the same world I already developed last time, that part was easy. But we had to think about how to fit in the new character, how much time had gone by since the last session and what happened int hat time. I also had to make the stats for the cohort of a new character and for some members of an organization, luckily my boyfriend also helped a lot. It was fun to be that active busy with D&D again and saturday we had our first session and it was lots of fun :).

    • Yeah I just needed a break for a week, especially when you’ve been job searching for so long it can get so frustrating and it’s difficult to stay positive. The D&D session was a lot of fun and I am happy to be back into the world I created :).

    • To be honest I still don’t feel like I can jump back into the job searching with a fresh mind, I think I’ll need a few more weeks as a break for that. Or maybe I should just try to do it a little slower instead of pushing myself to send out a lot fo applications.

I’ve been playing D&D for a few years now, it’s not the best system as some rules are really weird, but it’s a lot of fun. And when I am DM I can adjust the rules however I want, that’s fun :). Finding the right group of people to play D&D with can be a bit challenging though, I myself prefer a relatively small group (around 1 DM and 3-4 players) as then it’s easier to keep the focus on the game.

  1. Finding a job can be really stressful – maybe it’s good to take a small break from all of it. πŸ™‚ I hope you find something nice soon, though! Have a great Sunday! πŸ™‚

    • Indeed finding a job can be really stressfull and I’ve heard no so often the last few weeks it got me down a bit. Now I am thinking of reason to prolong the break, but I really hope to be able to find a nice job soon.

  2. Job searching is stressful, so take care of yourself and yes a break can be good. Your new campaign sounds like fun, and when you’ve created a world of your own and a scenario you’re really into that is a good feeling. Creative outlets! πŸ™‚ Have you ever thought about posting notes from your sessions? That might be fun and other gamers might enjoy reading it. πŸ™‚

    • Yeah the break really helped getting my spirits up again :).
The new campaign is really fun. I write notes from our session, but never thought to post them online and frankly I have no idea where I would post them. For this blog it’s a bit too much in depth I think. There’s a lot of world building behind the whole campaign and the session notes wouldn’t make sense if you haven’t read all I wrote about the world building.
Have you ever played an RPG tabletop game?

  3. I don’t blame you on the much needed break from Job searching it sounds like you needed. We’ve all been there. We get it. It can get stressful and no one blames you. Lately i feel like going crazy because i can’t seem to land any intereviews *sighs*
Hopefully everything works itself out soon (which it WILL, BTW)

    • Sad to hear you also have trouble with job searching :(. Landing interview in the first place is my problem too and when I get the interview, there always seems to be someone’s who’s better even when i know for sure I could do the job. And because I did univesity all jobs for working in a shop don’t want me, which is a shame as I would like to work in a shop. I hope it works out in the end, at the moment I am trying to focus a bit more on Lola’s Blog Tours and sending out a few job applications each week to keep going.

  4. Sometimes a break is exactly what’s needed, I know how soul destroying job searching can be. I remember one interview when I was living in Germany. After about 30 mins of questioning they told me ‘oh we don’t really have a vacancy, but we do love London and you lived in London, you sound so interesting.’ You know, I really just wished to say some rude swear words to them grrrr.

    • Yeah the break seemed to have helped a bit. Soul destroying sounds about right, I am so sick of job searching and I just want to find something so I can stop searching.
And wow that story of yours that’s pretty bad saying that after 30 mins of questioning. Job interviews are so stressfull and then to hear there wasn’t a vacancy at all, I can imagine you wanted to say some rude words, but ofcourse even then you can’t do that :(.
