sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another rough week. Luckily we haven’t seen any signs of the mouse for two weeks now, but we’re still dealing with the aftermath. Now that the worst of the initial panic is over I actually just felt worse and way more anxious this week. I keep being afraid the mouse will return and we have to start cleaning from scratch again. And it’s just been so stressful and tiring dealing with this. We also haven’t checked the attic yet and still have to clean that and make sure the mouse isn’t there and can’t get in there anymore.

We have made some very good progress with cleaning, not everything is done yet, but we finally tackled the small storage room where the mouse spend a lot of time and cleaned that fully as well as a bunch of the stuff that was in there. We also threw a lot away and some other things we just put in bags as we ran out of time and energy to clean it. Still a lot to do, but we had to take a break from cleaning as I got my period migraine.

My mom has been really struggling since her first chemo of this round and has been feeling very sick, which was hard to hear. She responded really well to the previous chemo’s and didn’t have many side effects, but this time she felt really sick for days. I called her one morning and we also talked about whether I could come and visit, but the timing with the chemo’s and other things didn’t work out yet, maybe later.

Then I got my period migraine at the end of the week, which is always a struggle. I also managed to fit in some author assistant work somehow. I’ve been struggling getting enough entertainment in my days and I am having trouble getting into the books I am reading as my mental state feel still so off. I actually picked up a re-read as that was easier to get into.

What did I read this week?

Homicide and Halo-HaloA Fall to RememberAlpaca and Apparitions

Homicide and Halo-Halo was great and Alpaca and Apparitions too, but A Fall to Remember was a DNF.

This week I blogged about:

– Review: Familiars and Foul Play by Beth Dolgner
– Review: Microscopes and Magic by Andi R. Christopher
– Review: The Peryton Fawn by Ariana Jade

  1. You have my profound sympathy regarding the mouse. We had a little visitor who got into our kitchen when I was living in Somerset waaay back. It escaped, after leaving a huge mess and a lot of food we had to throw out. Everyone shook their heads and told me there were bound to be more. But there never was. So I had goosebumps every time I walked into the kitchen for weeks afterwards… So stressful! I hope the coming week is a kinder one, Lola.

That’s such a shame about the food you had to throw out, we had to throw out some food too. And it will probably take a while to settle and now startle once I hear a noise.

  2. I can totally understand the stress with that mouse thing. I know I’ve got to do something about the ones in my attic. Sorry your mom is struggling this time. But hopefully it will be worth it in the end for her. I need to read more of Manansala’s books, but I was a little disappointed in the first one that the dachshund wasn’t in it as much as I’d hoped. I hope this is a better week for you!

Sorry to hear you have mice in your attic, I hope you can find a way to get rid of them. I really hope my mom’s treatment will be worth it in the end. The dog played a slightly larger role in book 2, but still not much.

  3. I’m sorry your week was so rough. I am not a fan of mice at all and felt like everything had to be clean and sanitized. I kept so many things in plastic tubs even though they weren’t in the house anymore. My daughter’s periods were so bad – heavy, cramps, migraines. She takes a medication so she no longer gets periods. I hope this week is much better.

It’s such a pain with how much needs to be cleaned. I definitely understand that sentiment of putting things in plastic tubs and we bought a bunch of big plastic tubs for storage even tough the mouse is gone, it just seems handier and safer. I might have to see if they have something like that here, no more periods would be great.

  4. I’m so sorry to see your mom is really struggling with this latest round of chemo and that you are feeling even more stress at home with the mouse gone and all the clean up then the migraine.

Wishing you a much better week, Lola!

It was sad to hear how much my mom was struggling with this chemo. All the mouse clean up is so much time and effort.

I hadn’t expected the chemo to make her feel so bad this time as she hardly had any side effects last time. I really hope the mouse won’t return and that we can get everything cleaned soon.
