sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This week was a lot better then last week. We still spend a lot of time worrying about Snickers, but she seemed to improve every day and towards the end of the week we put her with the other rats in the cage during the day and that seemed to go well. She did still sleep with us at night, probably starting tomorrow shll be full time back in the cage.

We had some nice weather this week and my boyfriend and I went to a garden shop (not sure if this is the right translation) and we bought some plants and flowers for our balcony. We now have 3 plant pots filled with flower seeds and we got a grape plant. We also cleaned the strawberry plant we still had form last year and after removing the dead leaves and such, the plant looked pretty good again.

We also got some cleaning and tidying done in the houde and we made a bridge from bamboe sticks and toilet rolls for our rats that connect our two bureaus. I also send out some applications, it took a lot of time and I still hate job searching, but at least I send out quite some applications this week.
I also got some more reading done, although it’s still going a bit slow. And I still haven’t been as active online as I wanted to and didn’t got a lot of blog commenting done. The time I normally spend commenting is now spend job searching 🙁

Saturday morning I had a job interview for a job as a book seller. Afterwards I went shopping with my mom in Leyden. When we arrived I got called back and heard I didn’t get the job, because the other candidate had more sale experience. The rest of the day was nice, the weather turned warmer then that morning and my mom and I had a great day. I got some new clothes and we lunched in the sun at a nice cafe that sells delicious bagels.

And Happy Easter to everyone who’s celebrating! We don’t do much special this weekend, but tomorrow we’ll be having an Easter brunch with my mom and Clemens.

She hired him to take her virginity…but now she wants even more.

Lori might be a popular romance writer, but she’s never been anything but a flop with sex and love in her personal life. Still a virgin at twenty-six and increasingly frustrated by her inexperience, she decides to take matters into her own hands. She hires a talented, sexy male escort to take care of her inconvenient virginity.

She assumes one time with Ander will be enough, but she never dreams how much pleasure he can make her feel. Once isn’t nearly enough. Twice isn’t enough either. Soon, she becomes one of his regular clients.

Lori knows that nothing would be as foolish as falling in love with her paid escort, but she’s never been wise with her heart. And, despite his professionalism, he doesn’t seem entirely immune either.

It’s time to play with the grown-ups.

Kindergarten teacher Cleo James needs a change. Three years at her widowed dad’s beck and call are enough. A weekend in Vegas at a sci-fi convention with her best friend will do for now, and the hot guy who wants to spend time with her only adds to her excitement. After all—it’s just for the weekend. What can possibly go wrong?

Multimillionaire Sam Mason is sick of gold diggers. He’s looking for someone who’ll fall for him, not his wallet. When he meets a shy, green-skinned slave girl, she pushes all his buttons—the best part is she has no idea who he is and mistakenly believes he’s a Chippendale. Between the sexual attraction and too much alcohol, he wakes up married to his green-skinned beauty, but the bride has vanished. Finding her will be a lot harder than he thinks.

Only this year, the souls will not be quieted.

Open the door.
Step quickly, step through.
Breathe in the darkness,
Until you are its master.

Ingrid Stanley is in more trouble than she knows. Ingrid’s dead friend keeps showing up in her dreams along with mysterious visions that feel all-too real. What’s worse is now the Collective knows that Ingrid is supposed to have superpowers. They’re waiting to pounce the moment Ingrid and her new superpower-wielding friends make a mistake.

When her family is threatened by Professor Jadore, Ingrid decides it’s time to take matters into her own hands. A little student protest can’t go wrong, she thinks. Not when her almost-boyfriend Ethan is fully supporting it. Not when her friends put an innocent student’s life in danger to make it successful.

Not when a powerful alien is waiting for Ingrid to inadvertently summon him into this world.

Everything’s going to be fine. Absolutely no one will get hurt this time.

…right?

Wrong, and wrong again.

Between fighting a race of magic-wielding winged monsters, scaling Krakens, blinding Cyclops, running from Sirens, and being abducted by pirates it’s all Arc Arcanum can do to keep his head on straight; literally. After losing the only home he’s ever known, and with nowhere else to turn, Arc enlists with the Human Liberation Front to help fight against a ruthless species known as the Winged Ones and stop them from unleashing a world-wide human holocaust. He quickly finds that he may have bitten off more than he can chew when he’s tasked (completely by accident) with escorting humanity’s last hope, a red-eyed android named Celeste, across the sea to one of the few remaining human safe havens. To make matters worse he’s accompanied by two fellow cadets: the feisty vixen Rose and the polyamorous playboy Prince, both of whom seem entirely set on making sure nothing goes as planned. It’s a magical journey that proves blood isn’t the only bond that makes a family.

  1. (My first reply didn’t seem to post…so if this is a double reply, I apologize! Let me try this again, lol.)

Wow! Lots going on for the blog! Looking forward to what you have lined up for next week. I have Escorted on my kindle and keep meaning to read it. Your post reminded me of this and I think I will move it up my TBR list!

Good luck with the job searching. It can be tough, I know this from my own experience right now. And frustrating. But it will pay off. *fingers crossed* (I’m trying to find a full time teaching job at a college, because this part time stuff is great, but I want -and need- benefits. It’s been so freaking hard.) We just gotta stay positive, right? (I know, this is easier said than done, lol But if I keep saying it, it must work…right?!)

Have a great week (I’ll send lots of positive job hunt vibes your way!) and Happy Easter!

    • That’s weird that your first reply didn’t post :(. It also isn’t in my comment spam folder, so not sure what went wrong.

I just bought Escorted this week and it’s sounds really good, I hope I have time to read it soon :).

I’ve been job searching for around 1.5 years now. I do have a part time job since last september, my own business Lola’s Blog Tours. But I need another part time job. I just hate job searching and it doesn’t get easier being rejected every time :(. I also keep thinking that eventually I must find something, right?

You have a great Easter as well and have a great week!

  2. I’m happy to see that Snickers gets better ! I used to have strawberries planted in front of our windows, but between the children and the adults, the strawberries did not have time to grow :S I’ve got Escorted and should be reading it soon (I hope ?…). I’m not sure I would like reading Kelley Armstrong. I tried her once at my library and gave up, then I tried watching Bitten and hated it (except the guys walking around butt-naked !). Well, have a great week and happy Easter !

    • Thanks Iza :), I am really glad Snickers is doing better. Last year we didn’t eat any strawberries from our plant, they didn’t look good, but they do make the balcony smell nice.
Kelley Armstrong is one of my favourite authors, I love her writing style, but I guess it’s not for everyone. I’ve read all her full lenght books now except for Sea of Shadows, but I’ve read some negative reviews for it and now I am a bit hesitant to start it :(.
I hope to read Escorted soon as well, it sounds like a fun book.

    • Growing your own vegetables is so much fun! I hope to be able to grow some more vegetables once we actually have a garden, but on our balcony we won’t get much further than tomatoes and strawberries. Our strawberries last year where mostly food for the birds as they didn’t seem edible, hopefully we can eat a few this year.

    • Yeah our balcony is looking great now :). Let’s hope those flowers sprout soon and I have some time and nice weather to sit outside soon.

  3. So glad to hear that Snickers is feeling better, she is clearly on the way up, and it’s good you had the surgery done, it was obviously the right decision.
Here in the UK, they call the garden shops mostly garden centres. Though I;m not the most passionate gardener, I could spend some serious money in there.
What a shame about the job 🙁 gosh that would be a dream come true for me as well. I’ve had my name registered here at Waterstones for a Sunday job, but never heard anything.
Have a great week and Happy Reading.

    • Yeah looking back now I indeed think it was the right descision to have the surgery.
Yeah graden shops or graden centres would be the direct translation from dutch, glad to hear that actually is the right term :).
Working in a book store would be so awesome. We only have one Waterstones here in the Netherlands and that one is pretty far away here, but I still e-mailed them once to ask for applications. Let’s hope I find a good job eventually.
