sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a busy and productive week. I finally resolved an issue with our sink not draining properly, which we have been dealing with for weeks and it’s been so nice to have that resolved. We had municipal elections here this week, so I went out to vote for that. I also finally resolved an issue we had with receiving an invoice that included something we shouldn’t have to pay for and finally got word that we’ll be getting a new invoice for only the part we have to pay for. I went out for another bike ride in nature, it’s been so nice to do this more regularly and it’s good for my mental health.

We opened up my boyfriend’s computer and replaced one of his fans and looked at his graphics card so we can hopefully replace that or the fans on it as well. Now that we resolved my computer’s noise issue, we wanted to make sure we did to make both of our computers less noisy and hopefully able to last for a few more years with some changes.

On top of eating lactose free to see if that helped with my gut issues I now am trying eating less gluten and adding more gluten free products to my diet. Going full gluten free didn’t seem feasible, but I was hoping I could try eating less gluten and see what that does. So far I am seeing some promising results already. My gut feels better and my bloating seems to go down a bit, so I am very encouraged by the results. I found some delicious gluten free cookies already.

  1. You really got a lot of things handled and fixed this week! We went gluten free in 2019. Really if you eat unprocessed things it isn’t as hard. But the bread, pizza crust, cookies, cake, etc and also many sauces will have gluten if you don’t watch carefully. Gluten items are often more expensive and even the flour to make things yourself can be more (but my baked goods taste better). It’s a process. If you can eat, rice, potatoes or sweet potatoes instead of bread, that helps. Sometimes I just want a sandwich with bread though.

I really like making dishes with pasta as well as eating bread with my meals, so that will take some adjusting. I also have a bunch of safe foods that are just these filling and tasty bars I like to eat from, but so many contain gluten, I found some nice glutenfree bars, but then they might not have as much fiber or protein. It sure will be an adjustment.
Luckily with the low-FODMAp it’s all about the fructans and not the actual gluten, so I can still eat sourdough bread, that helps a lot as I can still buy storebought bread. We don’t have an oven, so making things myself is harder. And I definitely noticed how a lot of glutenfree products are pricier, which is sad. And there’s less choice too, which can be tough as I am a very picky eater.

  2. I’m behind on reading reviews again and you have several I want to check out! I’m glad maybe the gluten could be the issue and hopefully cutting like you have will help! My bathroom sink is draining slow, and I bought some drain cleaner, but it says to leave for an hour and then flush, but I haven’t remembered to do it until right before I leave the house, so am waiting. Hope you have a good week!

I haven’t been reading reviews as much either, it’s hard to keep up with the blog visiting some weeks. So far cutting out the gluten seems to really help and I went to eating almost no gluten this week as my gut kept responding not well to eating gluten. I hope you get to use your drain cleaner, slow draining sinks are so annoying.

  3. That is always a great feeling getting tasks done like that and I’m glad the dietary changes are helping. Fun that you got out on another bike ride and had a good reading week.

    Have a good week, Lola!
