The Kestrel Ward's ChoiceThe Kestrel Ward’s Choice (Purple Oak Oasis)
by Laura Greenwood and Ariana Jade

My Rating: 4 stars

Genre: Cozy Fantasy Romance
Age Category: Adult
Type of romance: m/f

Blurb:
An impossible choice comes from seeking an alliance.

Tea witch Zoe Brewster has been sent on a diplomatic mission to a bird ward haven, but she’s not prepared for what she finds there, especially when she meets the handsome kestrel ward who is serving as her guide.

Aaron has lived most of his life at the Nest, but now he has a choice to make, one that could change everything for him.

As the two of them grow closer, they realise they might have something personal to gain from Zoe’s diplomatic mission.

The Kestrel Ward’s Choice is a cozy fantasy romance with a meet-cute m/f romance, a kestrel ward without a tether, a tea witch ambassador, unusual magic, a pinch of steam, and a happy ever after.

My Review

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

I am really liking this series so far, the whole series got revamped and it’s pretty different from the previous version. This one follows Zoe and Aaron and their romance and story has changed quite a lot since the previous version, so it was almost like reading a new book as their whole story and romance is different even though there are some things that have stayed the same.

Zoe goes to the Nest for trade negotiations and while those don’t go as well as she hoped, meeting and getting to know Aaron is a real highlight of the trip. Aaron meanwhile feels stuck at the Nets, his parents don’t listen to him and his ideas and he doesn’t like how elitist the place is. I liked seeing the two of them interact, they are really sweet together. I liked seeing Aaron learn about Purple Oak Oasis and how life is different there. The marshmallow scene and their walking date were both such fun scenes. And the epilogue was just awesome and I liked seeing them find their happy ending.

The only thing I struggled with in this book was the setting. The Nest just did not feel like a cozy and comfortable place and I did not like how most of the story took place there. That is part of the story and how Aaron isn’t happy there, but it did make for less fun reading.

I liked reading about Aaron’s kestrels and seeing his bond with them as well as his close friendship with the aviary master Simon and how he want sot help him. Aaron is such a caring person despite where he grew up, which was nice to see. There also was more about the tea magic with Zoe being a tea witch.

To summarize: I enjoyed this latest book in this series. I liked reading about Zoe and Aaron and how they meet and grow closer. They are so sweet together and I liked their romance. I also liked reading about Aaron’s kestrels and the bond he has with them and what a caring person he is despite were he grew up. The epilogue was great and I really liked seeing them both be happy. The only thing I struggled with was the setting, this book takes place at a village called The Nest and it just was not a cozy or comfortable place to read about and how most people were not doing well. I look forward to the next book!
