sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was a bit of a struggle, I am dealing with low mood and low energy levels due to the days getting shorter and darker. I just don’t feel like doing anything and everything seems to take so much effort to get done. I did have a day where I felt a bit better and got some work done.

This week I worked on getting the hang of my new daylight lamp with hopes that will help. At first it felt way too bright, but it got better a few days in. I also grabbed another lamp to put next to it to banish the shadows caused by the daylight lamp as it made the room feel darker. I now have a set-up that works, now just working on getting the daylight lamp closer and looking at it more.

There was also some construction noise again as well as some people suddenly being in front of our windows or making sudden noises as they are working on the outside of the building. I am really done with it all and hope they finish soon. We smelled paint a few times as well, which wasn’t nice, but it might be a sign they’re getting closer to finishing. It’s very stressful to be dealing with all this renovation for so long.

Later in the week I got some work done. I also did some research about the Dutch book market for an author considering translating her book in Dutch, which was interesting and not something I’ve done before. Besides that I made some changes to the 5 books I formatted for one of my authors and did some social media posts scheduling for her as well. I also got a new request for formatting a box set in the new year, which is exciting.

What did I read this week?

Gone For YouGhosts of the Catacombs

Gone For You was a bit of a struggle with me not liking the main trope and the female main character, there was a lot of her pushing the male main character away, which got frustrating. I was more invested in the side romance. The male main character was super sweet and likable though.

Ghosts of the Catacombs was a great read. It has that typical urban fantasy vibe, but also feels fresh. It has ghosts, is set in Paris, a cute hedgehog pet and likable characters. I already got the next books.

This week I blogged about:

Review: The Whispered Word by Ellery Adams
Review: All For Knot Book Two by Ember Blaze
Review: The Coharie Beach Café 2 by Casey Dawes

  1. Glad that you found a good setup for the daylight lamp. I hope it brings you some relief soon.

Sometimes the side romances are the better story.

    • I think they’re supposed to remove the scaffolding before the holidays, so fingers crossed that indeed happens and most of it gets done by then.

  2. It’s so strange how people are affected in different ways by the different seasons. I get like that during the Summer time when there’s too much sun and sunny days. I love these cloudy, dark, gloomy overcast days.

    • I am sorry to hear you get like that during summer time. I am not a fan of the really warm and sunny days either. I feel best during spring and early autumn.

    • I sure hope the lamp helps. And I heard from a neighbor that they should be finished with the scaffolding part of the renovation before the holidays, so hopefully they’ll be done with that by then.

  3. Renovation is very tiring. I once bought a house is a new development. The continual construction was such a drain. I hope your building renovation is done soon.

    • That sounds stressful to have that continual construction. I hope the renovation here will be done soon, but it will be another few weeks probably.
