sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This week was a bit better than last one, but still pretty tiring and stressful. The first half of the week was less noisy in terms of construction/ renovation noise, but then the second half of the week was worse again. They also came to replace our balcony doors with new ones, so that was a bit stressful and tiring. Good to have that done and I think now there are still some renovations and painting that will happen on the outside of the building.

While I only finished one book this week I did get back into reading and am reading multiple enjoyable books right now. I also am doing a re-read which helped too.

We got a bit more cleaning out in the house done as well. Got another few bags to throw away and we’re working on another room now after finishing the room we were working on the previous weeks. It’s tough mentally at times to throw things away and deal with all the memories that come up, but it’s also been good to throw so much away and only keep the things we really want to.

What did I read this week?

Coharie Beach Cafe 2

This week I blogged about:

Review: Monster’s Past by Laura Greenwood
Review: Love Across the Tabletop by Kait Disney-Leugers

  1. Lola, I hope the construction ends soon and you will have some relief. I’m so impressed you are cleaning up and sort/ throwing things you don’t need. I have those holdover instincts from my parents who grew up in the recession to save everything because I might need it.

    • I am afraid it will probably last another few weeks or maybe till the end of the year, they didn’t mention how long it would take. The cleaning out is tough, but it’s also good to get it done. I have a lot of anxiety about throwing things away. And having those holdover instincts from your parents who grew up in the recession sounds tough, it’s hard letting go of those thoughts that you might need something in the future.

The construction has got to be such a hassle. Hopefully they’ll be done soon and you’ll have things better at least. I do a little cleaning up and then none for a while. I think when I start putting up my holiday decorations I have to do a massive cleanup of all that stuff that I don’t use anymore. I used to have some big ornaments I hung out on the little tree in my front yard. But they cut that down because they said it was basically dead, so I can just get rid of those now. Hope you have a good week!

    • I sure hope they’ll be done soon, but I fear it will likely be a few more weeks or till the end of the year before the construction is done. We do the cleaning in bursts too usually, some weeks go better than others. I was just thinking of our holiday decorations as well and how we have to sort through that as well. That’s too bad about that tree they had to cut down, but at least you can get rid of the ornaments for it now.

  3. They are really refurbishing your building. I didn’t realize it would be so extensive. I suppose it will look really nice when its all done with new paint, new windows, etc, but yeah, a disturbance while its being done. Glad you got a break for part of the week and got back into your reading.

Hope you have a good week, Lola!

    • It really is very extensive renovation they’re doing. I assume it will look nice when it’s done and it’s good for the energy bill probably as well, but it sure is a hassle havign so much noise and disturbance.

    • It is good to do the cleaning out even though it’s difficult. That makes sense you need your kids to come sort through the stuff you still have of them.
