The search for answers may lie in dreams of the past.Anja has never been able to answer the question of what she is, but now she’s at Blackthorn Academy, she’s determined to find out—even if it means facing the dreams that plague her nights.
The moment Cethin meets Anja, he knows she’s more than just a classmate, he just hopes that she can see beyond his twisted lineage and won’t run screaming when she discovers she’s his mate.
Between the nightmares, the new class load, and the charming dark warlock plaguing her thoughts, there’s no doubt that Anja has her hands full, but can it help find her the answers she’s looking for?
Monster’s Past is book five in the Blackthorn Academy for Supernaturals shared world, featuring a heroine with no clue about her past, a cinnamon roll dark warlock determined to help her, and more.
My Review
I really like Laura Greenwood’s books and as I enjoy her Obscure Academy series I wanted to try this academy book as well that she wrote in a shared world. When I was in the mood for a comfort read during a tiring week I picked this one up.
I enjoyed Monster’s Past. Anja and Cethin had an instant spark and I liked seeing them spend time together and fall in love. I also liked seeing Anja figure out what type of supernatural she is with Cethin’s help. I did manage to guess it correctly what she was and I liked seeing her figure it out and get a feel for her magic.
The romance was sweet with a bit of steam as well. I liked seeing them grow closer and spend time together. They have some great banter.
I liked the academy theme and reading about some of their classes. I would’ve liked to learn more about their magics and how it all worked as I liked reading about their magic.
To summarize: This was an enjoyable paranormal academy romance. I liked Anja and Cethin together. I liked them as a couple and how Cethin helps her figure out what type of supernatural she is. The academy setting was nice. I would’ve liked to see a bit more about their magic powers, but I liked the parts we saw.
Neat that you figured out her personal history. I love the cover for this one.
It was fun to be able to guess correctly what type of supernatural she was and then see her figure things out.
