The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
I decided to take some days off this week. My boyfriend and I took a trip to a city on the other side of the Netherlands. Unfortunately not everything went as smoothly, but despite that we found a great place to have lunch, then we had a beautiful walk in a forest with plenty of fall colors and found a nice restaurant for dinner.
After that we also went out for lunch here in town to have another relaxing day. It was nice to take a few days off and relax, but it also made me realize how busy I’ve had it work wise lately and I have been thinking of ways to adjust things and spread tours out a bit more so I don’t have many of these super busy weeks hopefully going forward, but hopefully can keep a steady stream of work. We’ll see whether it works as that’s always has been one of the struggles with this job, either I am really busy or I don’t have enough work. I hope I can even things out a bit more.
Then after the few days off there was plenty of work to do again and some work I had to catch up on after the days off. I had a bunch of tours running this week and worked on a new review opportunity for a Middle Grade contemporary book that I put live. I also did a bit of assistant work, but not as much as I had hoped. And some new tours got booked too, for which I am grateful as I didn’t have many upcoming tours.
What did I read this week?
Just a Little Fake Romance. was unfortunately a DNF, I really enjoy this author’s books, but this one didn’t work for me and my mood.
I was in the mood for a light and fun read, so I picked up Secret Santa for Grumpy Elves which was great. Romantic, sweet, fun and light.
I wanted to read more in the same series, so I picked up Blind Dates for Lonely Gorgons right after that. I really enjoyed that one as well and I liked reading about gorgons.
This week I blogged about:
– Review: The Alien’s Veterinarian by Arizona Tape and Skye MacKinnon
– Review: Massacre and Margins by A.C.F. Bookens
What to expect next week on the blog:
– Review: Sapphire Mage by Dorothy Dreyer
– Review: Trial by Fire by Ariana Nash
Tours open for sign-up on Lola’s Blog Tours:
– Review Opportunity: Midnight Craving by Shari Nichols
– Review Opportunity: Abby’s Pony Love by Susan Count
– Review Opportunity: Lily Makes a Way by Susan Count – New!
Sorry to hear that Just a Little Fake Romance was a DNF for you. It looks cute but not every book works for you, especially if it’s not fitting your mood. Hope you have a great week! ♥️

It was a shame as it sounded super cute, but it just wasn’t working for me in my current mood.
Sorry your trip wasn’t all smooth, but it sounds like you had a few wonderful moments. 🙂

Thanks! There sure were some great moments even though the trip didn’t go all smoothly.
Being busy is good but too much can be stressful.

I agree, it’s good to be busy, but it can also be stressful.
It’s really important to have some time off to spend with family or friends or just by yourself. I’m glad to hear you got out!

It was nice to have some time off, I am planning to take an extra day or two off more often.
Ah… it’s always the conundrum for self employed workers – you’re either rushed off your feet, or worrying because you don’t have enough work, which is also stressful… I know that once my dad retired after a lifetime of running his own company – he suddenly looked 10 years younger! I hope you can smooth out your work/life balance, Lola:).
That’s definitely the biggest struggle of running my own company, either I am stressed because I am too busy or because I don’t have enough work. I still am happy I can run my own company, but it can definitely be stressful. I hope my attempt at smoothing out my work/ life balance will work out.
