sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a bit of a busy week with it’s ups and downs. I just got another migraine and got to try out my new medicines for that. The new medicines seem to be working reasonably well against the pain, but unfortunately I am still very low on energy, tired and have trouble concentrating. So I still can’t get much work done while I suffer from one, which is a bit of a bummer.

Earlier this week my boyfriend and I did a trip to a nearby city, we browsed around a bit, had lunch and bought some chocolate and typical dutch Stroopwafel cookies before going back home. It was a fun day.

We’re still struggling to get some of our faucets fixed here, but I think we got pointed to the right direction and I know who to call to get it fixed now. So let’s hope that pans out. And we got word that the kitchen cabinet that needed replacing arrived, so we made a an appointment for that for next week.

Work wise I got as much done as I could. but it wasn’t as much as I had hoped. It’s been great to be so busy with tour work and I got another blog tour live on my site as well as a YA fantasy review opportunity. I am working on a few others and hope to have a few more live next week. I finished up this month’s assistant work and I managed to space a few things out and got them done earlier so the end of the month was a bit less busy.

What did I read this week?

Massacre and MarginsThe Alien's Veterinarian

Massacre and Margins was a bit of a miss for me. The vibe was a bit too tense and dangerous compared to the first book. I liked traveling to Iceland in this book and reading more about the characters.
As I was in the mood fun and light read I picked up The Alien’s Veterinarian which was a great one. It was fun and I enjoyed reading about the animals. The couple was great and I liked reading about the differences between the aliens and humans.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Beyond Blue Frontiers by Cecilia Randell
– Review: Tangled Truths by Lindsay Buroker

  1. LOL! The Alien’s Veterinarian! Love that title! Of course I loved Ice Planet Barbarian so I am getting more into those types of books as well. My library clerk had a migraine this week and she came into work anyway to help me out. Even though I told her to stay home if she needed to. But she’s got family illnesses that I know she worries about having to take days later in the year, and she’d rather take them for her family than for herself, so I get it. Hope you have a good week!

    • The title is great and the book was too. I am sorry to hear your library clerk also had a migraine and came to work anyway, that must’ve been tough for her.

  2. So sorry to hear of your battle with migraines:((. It probably won’t help – but since I went through the menopause, I just never get them anymore, which is such a relief as I struggled with them from my teens until I hit my 50s. Let’s hope the new medication does the trick. I hope you have a better week, Lola, as I recall how draining they were.

    • I am hoping the menopause will solve my migraines as well, but that’s still a while to go till then. The medication seems to help with the pain, but they’re still very draining. I am sorry to hear you struggled with migraines so long as well and I am happy to hear you no longer deal with them anymore since the menopause.

    • The Alien’s Veterinarian was a lot of fun, I hope to get to the next book soon. I am happy the medicine helped, I had hoped it would help with the tiredness and such as well, but sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case yet.

  3. I’m sorry to hear about your migraine. It’s interesting that the meds worked on the pain but not on anything else. I guess that’s better than nothing? But ugh, it would be nice if it did more for you! Sounds like you had a nice trip out with your boyfriend. I love stroopwafels! They are super sweet but delicious.

    • It’s definitely better than nothing, as not being in constant pain helps a lot, although I am still sad it didn’t do more as now it’s still going to a rough few days while I have the migraine because of the other symptoms.

The trip was a fun one. I didn’t realize you had tried stroopwafels, that’s great! I agree they’re really good! We got some mini versions too, which are nice if you want something smaller.
