The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This was a bit of a weird week. My boyfriend went on vacation with some friends, he got invited for this before his burnout and decided to still go. He’s back now and had fun even though he’s tired. I visited a nearby city and got bitten by a seagull who wanted my last bite of bread. I called that doctor when I got home and had to stop by the next day to get a tetanus shot just in case. So that wasn’t the best start of this week.
I didn’t get as much work done as I had hoped as I was quite tired due to not sleeping as well and I had a bad headache late this week. Luckily I got the most important things done, some assistant work, replying to emails, I sent out the media kits for a tour starting next week and I put a new sign up post live for a YA summer romance blog tour. I also got two new authors this week for whom to do assistant work for, which is awesome timing as one of my current authors recently reduced my hours, so that meant I had space in my schedule to take on these new authors.
I managed to try out some new recipes this week. I made a gnocchi dish with red bell pepper, tomatoes and vegetarian meatballs which turned out great. I even got motivation to do a recipe post for it, which will be live on my blog next week. All the recipes I’ve done so far you can find on this page.
I was talking with Sophia about s’mores and mentioned I never had them. She found a recipe for s’mores that you could make in the oven and that listed alternatives to graham crackers as I can’t find those here. I gave it a try and it turned out great, although the vegan marshmallows I bought didn’t melt as much.
What did I read this week?
Butter, Sugar, Magic was unfortunately not the book for me. I really wanted to like this one, but it just wasn’t working for me. Nothing was gripping me and I didn’t like how long it took the main character to believe in magic.
Legacy of the Lost was a great read. The pacing was done well and the adventure treasure hunting and finding her mom vibe worked really well. I already bought the next book.
Sundays with Oliver is one of the best books I read this year. It has a beautiful romance and I really felt their connection. This book made me think and feel. I loved the characters and how real they all felt.

– Review: Strangled Skein by A.C.F. Bookens

What to expect next week on the blog:

I didn’t make the gnocchi myself, just bought them from the store :). I don’t have the patience or time to make them from scratch.
Those biscuits (cookies) look like a great alternative to graham crackers for the s’mores. I used to love s’mores when I was camping, as a kid. Another alternative to the graham crackers and the chocolate is chocolate-covered biscuits, like Petit Ecolier or Choco Leibniz. …And thinking about it has me craving s’mores again. We need to get a little firepit to do them properly, but in the meantime, I may try the oven method.

These are digestive cookies and I think they worked well, but no clue what graham crackers taste like. Oh chocolate covered cookies is a good idea for s’mores too, then you only need to add the marshmallows. The oven method sure was handy :).
I personally do not like the feel of gnocchi against my teeth so won’t eat them, but yours look delicious! lol
Bitten by a seagull! That’s not something you hear every day and I feel vindicated now because I was always terrified of seagulls and my mother would say “Oh please, they don’t bite”. Yes, Mother, they do. We have proof now. lol
Hope you have a better week this week!

I like gnocchi and I thought baked was a nice way to eat them as the outside gets a bit firmer and the inside stays soft. I do get what you mean about some foods just not feeling right, I can’t stand avocado and mushrooms partly because of the feel of them.
Seagulls definitely bite and my dislike for them has only grown after this experience. I googled it and I don’t think it happens often, but I found a few more stories online about seagulls biting people while stealing food.
The gnocchi dish looked great! Looking forward to your review re: Pumpkin Spice and All Things Nice.

The gnocchi turned out really good :). And my review for Pumpkin Spice and All Things Nice is now live.
I’m glad you got to try s’mores! They are super delicious. And I can’t believe a seagull bit you! Omg that’s so random. I love most animals, but seagulls are just bullies and thieves!

I liked the s’mores and was glad I got to try them this way.
It really was so random. I couldn’t quite believe the seagull actually bit me. Just like you I love most animals, but seagulls definitely are the exception.
Oh wow! I can’t imagine never having had s’mores! They were a staple of my childhood summers by campfires 🙂 I’m glad you got to try them… now I want some lol! And OMG you got bit by a seagull?! I’m so sorry that’s so crazy. Birds scare me because they are vicious about food – as you have proof. I’m glad your boyfriend had a nice trip and yay for the new authors! Sounds like your week worked out, with a few hiccups along the way. Hope this week is great!

S’mores aren’t really a thing here, although recently I’ve been seeing store sell marshmallows and such more often. It was fun to get to try them this way with the oven and cookies that worked as a substitute for graham crackers.
I like birds, but not a fan of seagulls especially not now after one bit me.
I had no idea that you have to get a tetanus shot if bitten by a seagull. I never would have thought that. Hope the sore arm is better though.

You need to get a tetanus shot for a lot of animal bites and apparently for seagulls too. It had been a long time since my last one, so they decided it was better for me to come in and get a new shot just in case. My arm is doing better now luckily.
